My initial thoughts when i clicked on that^^ link was that was beatle I suppose.. that's the thing with forums.. it only takes a handfull of prolific posters to shift the entire look of the herd. I'm not sure i'd even describe that^ look as 'general hipster' i'd describe it as 'sufu 2010'.. it was a very particular aesthetic.. i never saw anyone in the wild dressing the sufu way back then.. we had plenty of hipsters who wore skinny-ass jeans but it was a world away from the 2010 sufu uniform. The aesthetic here has obviously changed over the years.. it's down to the contributors rather than fashion influence.. all it takes is a few of the regulars to start wearing something different and within 12mths we will all be wearing the same shit.. in the world of the normies, we're individuals but in the microcasm of sufu.. wees just sheep In 2012 when we were all on shore leave the Mister Freedom thread got bumped by the minute.. it hasn't been bumped in over a year.. all it would take is a couple of enthusiastic posters and the CPO shirts will be back up to a thousand quid!

I'm down to 2x pairs at the mo.. a pair of Waffle 2 and a pair of Elite's.. the 1978 vintage repros from 7 or 8yrs ago with the slightly washed out suede and the purposely yellowing midsole and tongue .. I think i'll bust them out of storage for my summer shoe.

Denim Blunders, Reflections and General Nonsense.

I watched that Wim Wenders film 'Perfect Days' earlier.. i really enjoyed it, it's an ode to unpretentious Japanese minimalism.. a story of Hirayama, who cleans toilets and finds pleasure in the simple beauties of life.. listening to old cassette tapes, riding his bike, books and photographing trees. It's lovely.. i like those slice of life films where nothing actually happens. In stark contrast.. i'm currently at Unit with the boy I've ordered fried chicken & canadian bacon.. served on a freshly baked waffle with maple syrup.. ..outside, is some Bladerunner-esque, lit brutalism -

You sure? (thanks aho) Depending on body shape.. I think opening the bottom button just makes them look more flattering / fit the body better.. ie- if you're a very slim build and the jacket is wide and boxy, fastening the bottom button has no effect on how the fabric drapes .. but if the jacket is a little more fitted or you're layering up.. the hem measurement is a lot smaller than the chest measurement so if your body shape doesn't follow the same taper from pit to hem, then fastening the bottom button pulls the waistband in causing the jacket to open up elsewhere, usually between the bottom two buttons.. (made worse by sitting) the pleats are not always enough to allow for this. Often looks worse with with the spacing of a 4x button jacket.. -

If i'm at work.. i always fasten my top buton because workwear isn't always about posing / fashion / style.. you have to take practicality and function into account aswell.. if i'm working on my planer, lathe or milling machine, the last thing i want in irritating wood shaving going down the neck hole of my sweatshirt.. meaning i have to strip layers off to get them out.. not favourable when it's 0° .. therefore i fasten the top button. If you look back at period workwear photos.. you'll see the same approach depending on trade. -

I thought the same @UkeNo but i did have to concede that from a branding perspective Nova-star sounds better out of the mouth I think they're Slovakian .. not sure we have any Slovaks on the forum.. @Toegun do you have Polish roots? that's probably the biggest land border.. how would you pronounce it? -

Settle an argument for me... Is Novesta pronounced Nova-star or No-vesta ? There is a pint riding on it.. -

Thanks @Hopethisoneisnttaken Did you ever see the W&A work shoe which Kurt stocked at Faith (Taiwan).. might be a bit before your time in forumland, they had a restocked size 10 in recently.. it's a lovely shoe, especially the brown / ox blood colour. I almost bought a pair many years ago.. then the guys on the IH forum went insane for them after Giles suggested a group buy and it put me off somewhat. -

Regarding MiUK Vs MiAsia Clarks... if we take the longevity of the crepe for instance.. it's just a bunch of latex, formed into a sheet and cut into soles.. With our noticable lack of rubber plantations we will be buying the rubber from abroad.. this isn't going to be liquid rubber.. it will be pre-formed rubber sheet bought from the country of origin... it's cheaper and easier to transport solids than liquids.. plus we would have to set up an expensive manufacturing facility just to make the liquid ingredients into sheet material which could be bought in for a fraction of the cost.. With rubber being so cheap / plentiful.. are we to believe that the Asia made Clarks are cutting corners here and requesting additives be mixed at source into an already cheap rubber material to make increased but poorer quality units? .. or is this just down to rubber being a natural product.. therefore some pairs will be softer, some pairs will be harder and some pairs will last longer than others irrespective of brand or country of manufacture.. also environment.. heat, cold, UVA, rain, frost will all decrease it's lifespan.

I'd pay good money for waffle soled Clarks @Alec Leamas

Sorry guys.. i'm out of the convo.. doesn't 84000¥ equate to $545 ? Is the site adding an import tax?
-
Incredible shoes for the money! The only thing standing between Clarks and a pricing upscale is the retail environment.. it's stuck in the 90s.. style classics like Desert boots and Wallabees (or Cornish pasty shoes as my Mrs calls them :) are sharing retail space with orthopedic shoes for pensioners or 'my first shoes' for middle-class toddlers.. if you didn't know the Clarks brand and saw them in a modern retail space (ie 1940s - Mom n'Pop -esque:) .. with some carefully curated blurb, they'd retail for 3x the price they do now..

You're very close.. they're a lot more mainstream than UFO I'll give you a clue.. The album didn't get released outside JP because the samples were never cleared. Here are their other albums.. do any of these ring a bell?

Yes! You can only have half a point though
