@MJF9 they've probably seen 30 days of wear, so not too much happening. My 46 on the other hand are really coming along (in my opinion anyway... I'm a loyal member of the slow-fades club). The 43 may become my daily pair after the 46. We'll see, there are some other pairs in my closet that are in the running for the daily pair, so the 43 may just continue to be in the weekend rotation, but I really enjoy wearing them.

This is funny. Model years aside, the denim they created for the s43 and 46 are vastly different from each other. I'm looking forward to seeing how the denim on the s45 and whatever other models they come out with is like and hope it's equally as good and interesting. Overall, the 46 has become one of my favorite pairs that I've ever worn.

^ Couching my post as someone here may have more accurate and informed info than me… below is my own visual comparison between the s43 and 46 that I own / have been wearing for the past year and comparing that to the fit pics of the s45 at Toyo. I haven’t seen measurements for the s45 posted anywhere. A few months ago I reached out to Barnstormer re: measurements and asked if they had any idea and they said they didn’t. With that, and I could be way off here, but judging by the fit at the Toyo link below it looks like the s1945 are full in the top block and thighs with a slight taper from the knee down. The s43 is pretty straight and full throughout and the 46 has slimmer top block and thighs with slight taper from knee down. I have both the s43 and 46 and looking at the pics the s45 appears to merge those 2 cuts, but again, that’s just me making a visual comparison based on the fit pics at Toyo along with how the 43 and 46 fit me… In any case, I’m looking forward to seeing actual measurements and since I haven’t that what’s really been keeping me from preordering. https://store.toyo-enterprise.co.jp/smartphone/detail.html?id=000000002625

@Ciabatta according to Toyo, spring 2025… Barnstormer has them available for preorder currently and states arrival as June 2025. Who knows if there will be delays, though.

What’s everyone’s initial thought on the denim? The overall construction looks really well done, and pre-soak fits all look great. Looking forward to following along 👍

Is cost the same? Doubt he’d do it, but if you really don’t care ask him to choose… think of the excitement and surprise upon receiving and opening!

Every time I see my Dad he makes some kind of remark re: my Merz zip hoodie and what it cost (luckily it’s the only thing in my closet he has any idea around) and how many of his sweatshirts he could have bought. But I love it and love wearing it. Isn’t a lot of this just where and in what we see value? The way we want to be perceived, or maybe fit in. This kind feels like a conversation around a $5k Chanel handbag, or spending some ungodly amount on a car.

I figured as much… I was just trying to put a little more meat around my response to sizing and my personal findings between FW and FC for @dada mafiosi

^ Yeah, you have much more experience with FW than I do and a lot more time and wear among various cuts / denim… no doubt about that… if I had questions around fit and asked your advice, I’d take it and get the size you’d recommend. Of the pairs of FW denim I have (‘42, ‘47, ‘51), they’ve all stretched, but not nearly as fast as FC denim - in particular. FC denim - to me - is like putting on sweatpants and after a day can feel too loose. FW denim just seems a bit more stubborn, but will stretch as all denim does. I’d also say that I prefer sizing to waist vs stretch-to-fit due to overall proportions and what I’m looking for (and out of - less contrast) in a pair of jeans.

@dada mafiosi I have multiple pairs by all those you listed (aside from Momotaro) and from personal experience FW denim is not as stretchy as any of those mentioned. I would definitely not use FC as a comparison as that denim (doesn’t matter which FC denim or weight we’re talking about) stretches far more easily and more than any other brand I’ve worn. I can wear a 31” in FC, Warehouse, STF OOE, which will all stretch to 32” (and beyond), but I can’t wear a 31” in FW - sizing has to be my actual waist at 32”.

I’ve had good experiences the few times I’ve ordered from Brogue. But from a communication perspective, I reached out recently via email (as stated on the site) re: a pair of TWC, but have not heard back… kind of a bummer. Agree with @fabes that their Alden make ups are very nice and seeing them displayed in store is awesome. I’d recommend checking the store out if you’re ever in SF, have a car and want to get out of the city.

Not sure if this is a rhetorical question, but it’s because the person setting up the machine has control over the width of the hem. There’s a shop in the town I live in that hems with a union special and they say they set their width to match Levi’s from such and such year (I forget what year / era in particular). The setting is a bit wide and in turn doesn’t provide as much tension so the roping, while still nice, is more open with larger spacing between the ‘ropes’. I prefer a tighter hem with closer ropes, which is how all the factory FC pairs (along with other factory hems from other makers) I’ve had have been. I’ve figured that having a wider hem setting on the machine allows for more lenience as the person hemming is working with more material and in turn is a bit easier to work, but this is all conjecture on my part as I’ve never hemmed anything.

Super Denim Collectibles 1942 and s1945 jeans and the s1945 blouse are available for preorder from barnstormer. I’ve preordered from them before and was a very good experience. They mention expecting delivery in June 2025 (and that may be delayed)…

Petrol-masculinity is a real thing here in the US.

My wife’s parents have a Volvo c40 and love it. I’ve driven it a few times and it’s great - very zippy and fun to drive. This is my electric, which I love… although, I still have range anxiety when driving up in the mountains especially in the winter (I’m in Colorado). I’ve had it a bit over a year and the range is pretty drastic between summer and winter. During the winter I also have a ski box on top so that doesn’t help at all. Audi Q8-Etron I like the Rivian @Broark. At first I wasn’t sold on it, but the more I see that model around the more I’ve grown to like it.
