  1. I suppose I’m just a disagreeable fellow! 😆
  2. I’m not sure I agree with this. The cinch/suspender buttons/number of pockets, etc were functional/design features of the jeans in certain eras and would have been standard across all pairs produced by a company (such as Levi’s). Obviously there may have been slight variations where one factory may have made still added a crotch rivet or cinch after others had stopped, etc. Wonky stitching wasn’t a functional/design feature, it was an accidental quirk simply due to untrained/inexperienced machinists and possibly poor QC. I’m sure there were thousands of WW2 pairs made with perfectly good, straight stitching and conversely quite likely a number of pairs from other eras with bad stitching, loose threads, etc (although these may have been more likely to have been picked up by QC). The wonkiness is simply a feature of some pairs that repro manufacturers have chosen to focus on, which, even if commonplace was not standard or deliberate at the time.
  3. The QC threshold is if it’s sewn neatly/accurately/symmetrically with no loose threads - then it fails and has to be redone!
  4. This deliberate shoddy manufacturing style has been discussed previously at great length either early on in the CSF thread or Denimbro (or both) and is a bit marmite - folks tend to love it or hate it. It’s not for me but each to their own.
  5. Do you mean LHT @vIGGiou riou?
  6. The rep system… Most people, if using the rep system, give a standard, green, positive rep symbol to a post they like. If they really like a post they’ll give it the yellow super-rep one and if they don’t like a post (I assume they must really dislike something as it’s not used often) they give it the red, negative rep. I understand all of this, it’s completely logical. What I don’t understand (and I’m not criticizing it), is why (and therefore when) do people use the blue rep icon? I assume it’s because they like a post, but not quite enough to give it a positive rep. Is it a neutral acknowledgment of a post that’s interesting or informative in some way? Please, blue rep users, explain your justification to me and satisfy my curiosity! 😁 I wonder if anyone will give me a blue rep as a response…
  7. Apparently, Superdry isn’t as cool as it used to be although I don’t know when that was anyway 🤣
  8. The following models have the thin X on the patch according to photos in that Lightning Denim Book. There may be others but the photos are too small to tell: Tokyo Kyoto 1988E new 505 new WW2 15th anniversary 606
  9. Also, the thin ‘X’ on the patch rather than the thick, outline ‘X’ that represents XX models indicates that they’re not a 66XX pair doesn’t it? I hope that makes sense 🫠
  10. That’s a great catch Tilmann, they’re in amazing condition. I had to refer to an old Lightning Denim Book from 2006 to find a picture of them! Did the listing describe them accurately?
  11. ^ 15th anniversary pair from 2003?
  12. I’m surprised no-one has snapped up these W33 Kyotos for an attractive price. I can’t quite tell from the photos but they look nearly new.
  13. Stranger Things have happened…
  14. Wow! @vIGGiou riou they really are fast faders, that’s incredible progress.
  15. @Broark you could always spend some reflective time alone in the wilderness, like John the Baptist, or Aaron Rodgers.
  16. With the recent chat about ONI in the Unknown Japanese Brands thread, I thought I’d post these deadstock Oni Reds for sale on Yahoo auctions. I think they’re the ones that BiG used to sell about 15 years ago, alongside the Blues (both now discontinued) and are a wider, vintage cut, unlike most of their modern offerings. They may interest someone on here.
  17. Congratulations @Geeman, is your new job something similar to your old one? Congrats too @Broark!
  18. Oni thread - all the way back on pg 5. I quite liked them years ago when BiG sold the Oni Red and Oni Blue models but haven’t given them a second thought since. BS United is a pretty funny title though! 🤣
  19. ^ I’d say it probably depends on the quality, type and thickness of leather used on the patch (I’m sure @Duke Mantee and others here can give a more informed view) but from my experience I wouldn’t go higher than 60°. Anything higher and you can turn the denim bland too - boil-washed jeans!
  20. I think he may still be around but not active under a different username
  21. @MJF9 has one, not sure which fabric or size though.
  22. The Eternal Type II (if you can still find one) is a modern cut with longer body and sleeves and fantastic denim.
