  1. Yup, thas me. Told you I'd fuck these things up in well under 6 months. Think I can hold Kiya up to his promise of a new pair if I ever blew the crotch out?

    4193146022_202384b147.jpg

Shit, I thought you already blew the crotch out. Almost looks like they've been repaired already.

JackCrank: 1, Super Black denim: 0.

  2. not to play devils advocate here, but I only do EMS to canada now due to fraud and it's easily $20.

Fair enough, but that was not the situation. The shipping method discussed was USPS Priority International, which is around $20 and certainly not $20 more than it costs to ship to the ConUS.

true, but if you are shipping something the fees should be stated up front. Whenever I buy from someone legit they always say "xxxx is the price, xx is the shipping, and either you or I eat the paypal fees". So I know exactly how much it costs. Bottom line is that freight goes to the bottom line as far as cost of goods sold(I am a finance and accounting guy), so you need to include it. Same when I was thinking about using SharpService, he throws in shipping and fees so the buyer knows the exact amount to credit from cash.

I abide by this for my listings; it's just good etiquette as a seller. I factor in the PayPal fees and shipping (for Canada and ConUS) into my selling price. It makes it tidier, and the transaction that much smoother. What's the point of nickel-and-diming when in most cases the difference is lost after one price-drop?

The seller just seems like he was looking to get out of the sale to make more money, and cost the buyer paypal fees. That is definitely horseshit. He should at least refund the full cost + fees, and also apologize for being the kind of guy that probably wears a fitted cap sideways. At the office. Which is his parents's house because he doesn't have a job.

The seller was in the same situation as a buyer in another transaction (i.e. paid for an item, then seller reneged), and went on to bitch about it in another thread. Not only an asshole but a fucking hypocrite too.

  3. Yeah, I just need to break them in a bit. The pair of PBJ's is already becoming more comfortable after only a few hours wear.

It's just a shock to go from soft pre processed denim to wearing cardboard pants. But I absolutely love the feel and slubbiness of the denim, after a bit of wear they soften up enough to be bearable.

I was planning on soaking to get rid of some of the chemicalls and starch, or is that not an issue

It is not an issue. If you're going to get serious about raw denim, you've got to learn to embrace the crispness of a fresh new pair of jeans. That soft broken-in feeling is the reward for beating the living hell out of them.

I understand that the Super Black denim feels like 60-grit sandpaper on cardboard backing, but that's what's so awesome about it. You could try soaking it to take out some of the starch, but that's like cheating... or something.

  4. I got fucked on a transaction with jays978

He jacked up his selling price by $15 due to the interest in the item he was selling. I was OK with this and promptly sent him the full payment via PayPal as a gift, per his request. The selling price included shipping to ConUS.

I requested shipping to Canada, at which point he demanded that I pay him an additional $20. When I asked what the additional charge was for, he said it was a fee for his inconvenience but offered a PayPal refund. I asked him to justify that cost when shipping to Canada can easily be accomplished for less than $20, and that we reason something out. I stated that I would rather consider the options than take a refund since I would eat the PayPal fee ($10+) and currency conversion due to the exchange rates. I could have provided a US shipping address if we could not agree on shipping to Canada.

Instead, he refunds me my payment without my consent, insults me, cuts off all communication, and removes his listing (presumably he sold the item out from underneath of me). I lost $25 as a result of this failed transaction, as well as the item that I had bought.

  5. Had these hemmed to about 32.5" and had them taken in from the thigh down 0.5". Im extremely happy with the fit now

I know the denim on the BK's is great, but really what's the point in buying a $450 jeans and altering them? It's not that they fit you poorly before; sounds like you just wanted a slimmer fit. IMO, you could have used another 2" off the hem. Cuffed or hemmed to length is the way to go on these. grundletaint's fit is spot on.

  6. mmm maybe so but the only reason i soaked/dried them so much was because I was trying to get them down to size.. I pretty much fucked up their whole process of fading but I was doing so to figure out what size I should have gotten.

Still unsure between the 31/32. your feedback is appreciated.

kix is right. You are thinking about this too much. The second fit pictures you posted look proper. You will fuck up your bowel movement and lose circulation to your legs if you size down.

And no, you did not fuck up the fading process by soaking them a couple of times. The quality of the fabric and dye for this denim (or any denim worth mentioning on SuFu) is good enough that there is no significant indigo loss from a soak or even a wash. FYI, I soaked mine pretty early on and they look just fine.

  7. I must have missed something, because I thought zissou was jokingly putting on too many MF items and taking a picture. The idea being that he was overdoing it.

+1. All of the people commenting "great fit" have been drinking too much of the Mister Freedom water.

zissou, Chambray x CPO x Long Sleeve x Signal Vest x Pea Coat x 7161?

  8. Re: J Crew vs raw MF chambray sizing

The L washed MF chambray that I just received from J Crew has the exact measurements of a raw M.

It also has the same measurements as my white M chambray that was originally from J Crew, but ignore this. It must have been an older one that was somehow mis-tagged.

Damn. I soaked my raw M chambray and it is too tight in the chest. It did not shrink much width-wise (only 0.5") in chest, but it shrunk quite a bit in the length (2"). Had I gone with a large it still would have been too long on me. I guess the shirt is just cut really slim.

If anyone is interested in a M white chambray let me know.

  9. people usually size up on 811s, just an FYI.

I'd suggest sizing TTS or down 1. TTS (one-wash) will stretch back out to tagged size. Sizing down brings the pain. Sizing up is for pansies.

I guess that means a no-go for a Eternal x Bears type cut?
really - just size down one for that...
the infamous hipflare is like a trademark- and if you size down 1 it will be gone in no time...
we're working on some custom details ....no different cut, though...the 811 is pretty perfect as it is...

QFT. Having tried the 811 in TTS and sized down 1, it's a great and versatile cut. TTS for me is a slim-relaxed fit, sized down is basically the perfect slim-straight silhouette. Matter of preference, but both are classic and flattering fits.

  10. How stiff is the 22oz black denim? I just got the blue lined chambray and it's badass. I was thinking 9634's would look cool with the blue chambray but I'm wondering if they are like steel.

Steel is one of several adjectives you could use to describe the 9XXX denim.

I don't exactly know what is meant by a soft hand, but the word "armor" comes to mind when describing the 9301 denim. It is rigid and the weave is coarse, so it does feel a little rough.
  11. I'll do my best, but someone correct me if I am wrong. A one-wash of any MF chambrays should fit like the raw one size below, after the shirt is soaked/dried. At one point, I was given measurements from J Crew for their one wash M and L, and they were the same as the measurements for the raw S and M, respectively, from Self Edge. If you want to buy a raw version, look at which size would fit based on the measurements, and then buy one size up to account for shrinking. Some say that one wash versions are only a half-size smaller than the raws (which would make sense with your sizing comparison above), but I bet they'd shrink more if soaked/dried. If the one-wash medium fit you perfectly, then I believe you would also want a raw M, which should measure at least a half size larger. As far as I know, Christophe is not changing sizing between raw and one-wash. As a comparison, a raw M would fit me well. I came across a washed L on supermarket, bought it, and bingo! it fit me just right, just like a raw M would have. I am a M in all other MF sanforized tops- Denim Utility Shirt, Shore Jacket, etc.

    Does this help?

It helps although I am still not convinced that the raw version shrinks a full size until I see some measurements; I think they shrink closer to a half-size, but you could be right about the one-wash still shrinking further. I was under the impression that they were industrially washed/dried like most "one-wash" garments to remove all of the shrinkage.

Did you not buy a white one-wash MFSC chambray (the J. Crew version) on SF? The measurements on the medium seem to be fairly similar to the raw version. The one-wash large was definitely too long in the length and sleeves for me, but if the medium shrinks a full size I won't have enough room in the chest.

  12. I think the pockets are cut the same... do you mean the arcuates? If you prefer the arcs on the BSP's, why not just buy a pair in a size up? They are still available through SE...

  13. Hey,

I think you got your facts a bit mixed up here. Correct me if im wrong. The 1001 does use the 3xxx denim. All the slim cuts are based off of the 3001 (which was the first slim cut that flat head came out with). Only the BSPs and the Inazuma collabs have a different slim cut.

    Educate yourself:

    http://www.flat-head.co.uk/html/styles.html

The SExFH05 was also a slim cut (modified from the XXX1 cut), but made from the 1XXX denim.

Just purchased some SEFH's from a member. I snapped a few pics. What do you guys think of the fit? I never gone this slim before, but I can barely breathe in these! But the denim is just so godly I had to take the plunge.

That looks uncomfortable. Are they SExFH BSP or SExFH05(BK)? They will stretch out if they are the latter (1XXX has quite a bit of give, BK's use the 4XXX denim), but you'll be living in pain if they are the former (3XXX not very forgiving). Either way, be prepared for premature crotchspload if you intend on wearing those.

  14. Could someone please post some post-wash measurements for a medium raw MFSC chambray (purchased from Self Edge)?

Also, could somebody (kiya?)explain the raw/one-wash sizing for these shirts? Does Toyo/MFSC use different patterns for the raw and one-wash, or are one-wash mediums = raw large?

I never did figure this out as I unsuspectingly bought a one-wash large in Japan, only to later realize that it wouldn't shrink (The one-wash medium fit perfectly, though). I compared the measurements on the one-wash large to the SE measurements and the sizes didn't really match up (i.e. M<one-wash large<L<<XL).

  15. i was wondering are 1001s slim, because it states the leg openings vary from 7.5 and greater....i tend to like skinnier like petite standards which have a leg opening like 6.75. Do you guys think the 3001/1001s are skinny enough for your taste?

Do leg openings tend to shrink in the hot wash phase?

    thanks

Flat Head's XXX1 cut is a slim straight cut, so yes, they are slim. Depending on your figure, they can be sized down for a very slim fit. Make no mistake though, they are not a skinny cut, nor a tapered cut, which sounds like what you're looking for. If it's a tapered cut you're looking for, look at the BSP's, although those feature the 3XXX denim, not the 1XXX denim.

  16. Didn't catch the sunlight today so artificial lighting will have to do. Here's some evo/fit pics of my SL-100x, at much lower magnification ;)

    @ 8 months, 1 soak, 2 hand washes, 1 machine wash

  17. +1 to all of the above.

fashunhor, I've seen your posts on SuFu and SF, and I'll say this as nicely as I can. Stop thinking about jeans, belts, etc. Just wear them, and don't forget to admire them every so often. It really is just that simple.

  18. Sounds about right. I don't own a pair of Skulls or PBJ, but I'd be either a 31 or 32 in the Skulls and I wear a 30 in the 3sixteen ST (and SL). My true waist is 32".

If you're in NYC, I'd suggest visiting Self Edge NY to try on a pair. Nice folks there; just remember to keep a leash on your wallet or you'll be leaving with more than you were looking for when you walked in.

  19. Snapped these the other day at work under the microscope:

Yes, the denim fades quite stubbornly. Weather's been miserable but should clear up this week so I'll try to take some evolution pictures.

  20. who made them? have you considered contacting the manufacturer? who made them?

it sounds like they are defective and I would call someone and make them take them back. Most companies, like alden and redwing, will stand behind their product and support you as a customer.

you can also try contacting the retailer from which you purchased them.

Indeed, this is the most logical course of action. I will refrain from mentioning any names to save the parties involved the embarrassment, but the boots were made for a designer brand by a local boot manufacturer.

Since they were made locally, I took them to there to see what they had to say. I was informed that the boot was defective, in the opinion of a boot maker and the production manager; however, they could not do anything for me because they didn't sell me the boot, and it was made for the designer.

I took the boots back to the retailer, who dealt with the designer, who dealt with the boot company. After much deliberation, I was informed that the creasing of the boots was "natural" because of some distressing done to the boots by the designer, and that it was not a defect.

In light of the information I received from the boot manufacturer, I was disgusted by this explanation. I even sent a correspondence to the designer to express my dissatisfaction, but that had little or no effect.

I'd say that I've exhausted my efforts in resolving the issues with the boots, and God knows why, but I am hoping to find an answer on SuFu.

They are no longer returnable, and I stuck with them. My tone doesn't convey it, but I am fucking pissed.

@ PP, are you sure all that isn't because your feet aren't symmetrical? No ones are... my R is about 1/4-1/2 size larger, this is true for most people.

I considered this as well. I measured my feet, and they are the same in length and width. There are no abnormalities with my feet, and I have never had such an issue with any of my shoes.
