  1. Measure a pair of pants you like the sizing on and go from there.

Did you do this? If yes, then it really isn't that difficult to determine your size. Take that measurement and add 1-2". Buy the size with this waist measurement in the raw state.

If this is too much for you to comprehend, then maybe you shouldn't be buying raw denim on the internet.

  2. I stand corrected then. Still, it appears as though Christophe has freakishly long legs. And the difference in physique is also apparent despite them having approximately the same height.

I'll also say that the photos of only the lower half of the body tend to skew bodily proportions when compared to photos showing the full body, at least from shoulders down.

Blah. Jeans are awesome. I'll shut up now.

  3. It's a little unfair to compare zakurie's fit to Christophe's considering that they have completely different builds.

Christophe is taller with pretty long legs. From what I've seen, most pairs of jeans look good on this physique. Even if the inseam is too short, it can be worn with some swagger. You'll also notice that in Christophe's fit he's wearing his fairly high on the waist, with his shirt tucked in, which makes his legs look even longer. All things considered, it's a great look that's in line with his description of the fit he intended.

On the other hand, zak's got short legs which makes pulling off certain fits difficult. Hemming might be a good start, but I think they were intended to be worn with the original length cuffed to fit your inseam. Also, I think the back pocket design alone makes these jeans look out of ordinary. They're distinctly different from most of the Levi's repros, so when worn like most "Levi's" fits you see on here they look "off".

Like most of the Mister Freedom line, you need some serious swagger to pull it off. Most of the time, going for the look in the "lookbook" is a good start (i.e. throw on a leather jacket, a pair of engineer boots, and hop on a bike). Of course, if you don't have the swagger, you'll look comical.

  4. People are too obsessed with slim cuts these days. The 105BSP is not cut to be slim, although those jeans look like they fit spot on for the cut. I think they might even shrink more with a more aggressive soak (hot with agitation). It's nice to wear a more relaxed cut every so often.

And yes, please hem - unless you like dragging your hems around until they are worn to shreds:rolleyes:

  5. Leg twist is caused by the shrinking of the denim on unsanforized fabric, because Iron Heart's denim is sanforized and doesn't shrink much there will be little to no leg twist.

    Unless it's SExIH07 denim. Booyah!

  6. Gordon told me that he didn't really have much input in the cut or style of the jeans. he did choose the color of the stitching. basically, he likes the factory (didn't say which one) but they're very popular factory used in a few popular domestic Japanese brands. they are know for very precise high quality sewing or stitching. i've always assumed that the popular Japanese brands aim for perfection in stitching details. NOT true. for example, look at the back pocket stitching. are they perfectly aligned? does the space between the bottom layer stitch and the top layer stitch around the pocket remain the same or does it vary a little? or does it look a little uneven?

he showed me that some companies like Eternal and WH actually like to have variances in the eveness of the stitching. they actually like the organic look of a uneven line in the stitching. BIG n-01 is VERY straight and even. the space between the stitching is extremely even.

Funny that you should mention the stitching. Although i haven't handled a pair like you have, when I saw cheap;s photo of the back pocket my first thought was "that stitching looks a little sloppy".

    some detail shots.

    dscf6700.jpg

Look at the bottom corners. The stitching isn't continuous around the corner, and doesn't look symmetrical at the top around the hidden rivets. Maybe that's a stylistic thing to give the back pockets "character", but that's a turnoff for me.

I have for sale an IHSH-14 shirt in turquoise, size small.

The shirt was worn once by the previous owner, and only tried on by me. It's basically new.

    r0010128.jpg

The depth of colour on this shirt amazes me. In duller indoor light, like these photos, it's a deep turquoise. Under the sunlight the colour becomes a vibrant aqua. It's like staring into the Caribbean ocean.

    Fabric Detail:

My favourite detail on the shirt: the snap button inlay. It doesn't look like MOP, but it looks like shell or stone with a matte finish:

    Measurements

    Chest (pit-to-pit): 19.5"

    Shoulders: 16"

    Length: 28"

    Sleeves: 23.75"

I would also be interested in trading for this same shirt in a size medium.

  8. most IH jeans have a really small/tight front pocket opening.

This isn't the case on my IH 9301, which have plenty of room for front pocket access.

I'm just having a hard time accepting what I would consider to be a design flaw on an otherwise beautiful pair of jeans...

  9. it is just the waist that did not get as small as I thought. I am going to wear them for a bit see what happens.

:confused:I can guarantee you that they won't get any smaller while you wear them...

i had to soak mine and then run them through hot/delicate on the washing machine to get the max shrinkage out of them. it didn't change the color.

    Do this.

  10. I would be cautious about going with the 32's. I am a 31 or 32 in most jeans and this is how one-wash 811's in a size 32 fit on me:

Whoops. I just realized I missed out the size in my post.

Are you going with 33 then, Mr Black?

  11. You think a 32 will be OK? (the guy i'm getting them from has the raw 33's with the blue tab, but the 32's with red tab. I'd much rather the red tab)

I don't mind waiting. would rather get them right

I'd ultimately like a fit similar to this

They can shrink a little when washed too so be careful if you're sizing down that much. From my experience, Eternal's don't stretch much.

Also, the person with your desired fit has a pretty slender build. You might not be able to get the same fit.

If it's not too late, I think that if you gave those 34's a hot wash (or soak with some agitation) and a hot dry you'd end up with a decent fit.

5 guys breaking in raw denim for 6 months to see what method is best...

Some of those jeans look like one-wash jeans. Half of them only wore the jeans 3 days a week, so really they've only been worn for 3 months. Most of that time was probably spent sitting at a desk.

Those cuffs look so awful I can't imagine any of them wore them like that for 6 months. It's like someone in marketing instructed them to turn them up during the photoshoot, just to show the "selvedge" or to get that "old school" look. The jeans that aren't cuffed could have used a hem; besides, I thought J. Crew had one of those fancy chainstitching machines (or is that only available for those Warehouse jeans they're selling?)

The guy claiming his jeans look two years old clearly hasn't visited this thread:

    Denim worn over 2 years

Also, peep all the Aldens sold by J. Crew.

    Weak shit.

  14. Whoa, I didn't intend to offend anyone who I quoted. I respect kix and jstavrin as SuFu posters and wasn't trying to stir shit up.

I was merely stating that some nicely faded Levi's STF's that had been worn for nearly two years only garnered some comments about knee bags. Meanwhile, every pair of Sams or FH worn for a year or less with high contrast, tight combs and stacks gets people all wet and an entire page of positive comments.

Now let's get back to pictures of worn in jeans:
