  1. So if cold soaking doesn't seem to achieve much shrinkage, I guess hot soaking is the move.

Hot soaking always freaks me out for some reason BTW. And I know agitation gets more of the shrinkage out, but that causes more indigo bleed as well :(

If anything, there will be less indigo bleed after a hot wash. There will be more indigo loss from a wash than a soak, but the denim will have less residual indigo to bleed.

The indigo loss from an agitated soak is negligible in the grand scheme of things, and there will be plenty of indigo left in the denim to last two years ;) Remember to flip inside out during the soak to minimize indigo loss.

I assume the jeans will be washed at some point, so you might as well get as much shrinkage out of them off the bat.

i did a double hot soak fit is great just a bit poor right now to be hemming, got two years ;)

Wearing 36" inseam jeans without a hem is peasant status.

Hem. Soak. Wear. That's how I do. It results in maximum roping. That and it's a way cleaner fit than mega stacks/cuffs.

I sized mine TTS at 32, maybe I should have sized down one but who cares.

I'm also TTS 32. My size 32 O/W 811 fit spot on after another wash + dry (i.e. full shrinkage).

Definitely give them a hot soak. Try on while damp, and if still too loose for you liking, toss them in the dryer. Just remember to turn the jeans back inside out or you'll be cleaning indigo out of your dryer!

  2. Curious to see how you guys will be wearing the variations of the CPO. I struggle with appropriate fits for the Liberty Issue, and mostly wear it as workwear (i.e. I don't give a fuck what I look like, just need something rugged to get the job done).

Since I wear denim pants most of the time, I get into the Canadian Tuxedo conundrum. I find it is especially awkward when when wearing jeans that are lighter than the CPO.

I need some Cotton Duck steez.

  3. I think so..great fit, Kino, what size did you go for ? I'm starting to feel that a 32 mgiht be way to big for me...

beatle, a 32 should be a good fit on you. FWIW, I have a pair of O/W 811 in 32 and they fit me proper. I also take the SExIH07BK in 31. Hot soak/wash + dryer until slightly damp and you should be golden.

  4. FWIW, I didn't do much to maintain any of these leather pieces - just every day use. I applied some leather conditioning cream (made by Woly) every so often to keep the leather from drying out. No sun tanning.

    Wabi sabi.

  5. I understand that, but if they stretch back out to their current size, they'll be too big.

Soak once more in the hottest water you can get and agitate (toss in the washer inside out, WITHOUT spin cycle, if you wish) and they should shrink more.

As for stretching, they will only stretch if there is enough tension on the denim (i.e. if they're tight). Based on the information you've given, a 32 in the BSP's should give a good fit, without being painted on tight.

If you end up selling the 32's, another soak should not depreciate their value anyway, so you might as well ensure that they won't fit before giving up on them.

  6. Had on my FH World Tour t-shirt on and wanted to geek out but ended up having to leave so just wanted to say what's up to whoever was working yesterday!

That's a shame that, of all places where that shirt could go unnoticed, it happened at SENY!

I've yet to visit any of the SE stores, but I think that leaving without some sort of denim geek out session would be unsatisfying.

  7. well i was a lil worried about a 28 but turned out fine! i think the mid/high rise helped

they are proberly 80% dry but couldn't wait to get them on.

It's been a while since i got blue hands

anyways some crap fit pic's taken with flash

^^ good fit, but need a hem/cuff badly

Edit: just realized a 28 for you is sized down 2, nor wonder it looks so slim

If that is sized down 2, then I'm doubtful that they're close to fully shrunk. Sizing down 2 on Eternals would be painful. I think sidneylo sized down 2, and my balls hurt just looking at the pictures:

    Size 28 raw:

  8. I paid robgotsastaplerr a month ago for a pair of Quoddy boots. Since he received my payment he's been dodging my messages; he stated in our last contact that he would have a tracking number for me by today, or provide a full refund.

I have received neither the boots, a tracking number for a package, or a refund.

Due to my payment being a gift through PayPal (he requested that I pay him as a gift and I obliged), I cannot even file a dispute for the transaction. I have been contacted by people from other forums who had an unsuccessful transaction with him and the same problems.

Any advice on how I can get my money back would be greatly appreciated.

Here's some closure on the situation:

After trying several avenues to contact the seller, he finally became aware of my discontent. He has since shipped the boots, and provided a partial refund for the inconvenience. I have received the items I purchased and they are in the condition as described.

To sum up the transaction, I think the seller is a good guy; just the timing and circumstances of the transaction made things difficult.

  9. So which is yours???

And your wish is my command. I got a bit wordy and dorky, though, so enjoy

Nice design, dkatz. I like the story behind your design, and it certainly sounds functional for how you intend to use them.

I'm curious about the brass eyelets, as they seem to be a popular choice among the submitted designs. I like the combination with the natural chromexcel. Not sure about how it would look with brown chromexcel or the brown alpine grain calf though....

The story behind my design is that I want a boot for nights on the town when I want to look sharp without having to worry about scuffing up my boots; rather, I wanted something which would show the character of nights out at the bar and late night adventures.

Hardly as admirable a cause as dkatz's. I almost feel ashamed now that my design was chosen:o

  10. Awesome! Jealous... I'm still insulted that my This Is the Boot I Would Need for My Life in Uganda entry didn't make the cut.

    ...which is yours?

unfortunately, no boot design from me made the finals; here's hoping they will ever be made

What designs did you guys submit? I'm curious to hear about them, and the story behind the design!

I like elements of the other two boots up for the contest, but they both have dealbreakers for me.

As for my design, all I will say is that while it is not your typical workwear style boot found in this thread, it is guaranteed to look better with age!
