    feedback? Less kneebags please.
i hope you havent been walking around looking like that for 22 months.
Yeah, cuff that shit or hem them.

How did these not get any positive feedback?

I think the jeans just fell awkwardly in the fit pic because the rest of the fit looks spot on to me; those are some great vintage fades.

In fact, they look like a carbon copy of my 3sixteens in terms of fit and fades.

I guess there's no love for inexpensive denim that doesn't produce high contrast fades, that isn't sized down

  2. i made the account when they opened it but i never use it.

Ditto. I just did some browsing to see what's up at IH and read DougNg's brown cotton duck jacket saga.

Seems like they're overdying everything they can get their hands on.

    Which got me thinking,

What would happen if you reoverdyed a pair of worn in and faded jeans?

    Like these:

    Result:

    Super contrast fades?

  3. Before:

The tips of the laces were starting to fray, and I never really cared for them. I saw some leather laces at the cobbler the other day so I bought them to swap out the old laces. Surprising how changing the laces can transform a pair of boots. The leather laces also seem to hold the knot better so the boots don't loosen as easily.

    After:

    img2445n.jpg

    img2458k.jpg

The boots are also starting to show some signs of wear.

Scuff where the hairiness of the roughout has been smoothed out

    img2451z.jpg

The toe on the left boot is still super hairy though

    img2457.jpg

Another scuff, on the counter. My SExSC06 have left their mark on the uppers too

    img2453s.jpg

    More indigo

    img2456s.jpg

The leather lining, which was stiff as cardboard and murdering my ankles at the beginning, have conformed to my foot. I applied a bit of leather conditioner too to help soften it. These have become very comfortable, especially with the neoprene sole. At first I though I'd like them with a leather sole, but I don't think I'd enjoy standing and walking on those for an entire day. When I finally wear these down, I think I'll resole them with a crepe sole (Alden style). I imagine that would be like walking on clouds.

  4. I wonder how many more jeans Iron Heart will produce with this special over dyed denim. 301's and 634's

I guess the sexih07bk that I bought are not that special.

My understanding is that the SExIH07BK's use a different type of denim from the other overdyed models.

According to the SE site, the SExIH07BK (and the 301s-07BK too) uses 19oz unsanforized denim, as opposed to the 21oz flagship denim the 634B Overdyed are constructed from. I think the same overdye process is applied to both denims, but the denim itself has different characteristics. Although I'm not so sure what's so significant about the SExIH07 19oz denim, other than it being unsanforized and "extreme contrast".

I agree that it's disappointing to see IH making everything overdyed though (every model of jeans, shirts, etc.), when part of the allure of buying the SExIH07BK was its uniqueness.

Although subtle, there are differences between each of the models. I guess I have to convince myself that the differences are worthwhile now that I own a pair...:(

  5. Does anybody else have problems with their bifold wallet destroying their credit cards?

I'm on my 4th replacement card in the past two years; the first two failed because the mag stripe was getting worn. I switched to the chip cards, and now I've had to replace my card twice because of chip errors.

I've tried placing the cards in different slots, putting other cards behind them, putting them in a slot without any other cards, etc. but the problem persists.

I sit on my wallet (right rear pocket), so I keep it pretty trim.

    The wallet in question:

The card in question (top right, but same problem in bottom right slot):

    img1999j.jpg

I don't want to have to switch wallets, but if I have to keep replacing my cards then I might not have a choice...

  6. I don't mean to sound like a dick, but it seems as if some of you have been waiting to finally join the MF team without having to look like a crazy denim patchwork nerd.

Then when he doesn't do an exact copy of the standard 5 pocket set-up you all find something to start whining about.

I don't get it, isn't part of what makes what they do interesting the fact that MF doesn't do the exact same thing as everybody out there?

You want a regular 5 pocket, waistband patch, no backpocket stitching, go buy yourself a pair of jeans from any other brand...

I find the placement of the patch to be quite interesting; not sure if it's a repro of something that's been done, but I'd imagine that the patch would take a beating like the back pocket of any pair of jeans.

It will either make for some great wear on the leather, or a really early pocket repair.

  7. Day 18 contd

Bad news on the way back home though...Literally just across the street from our apartment, my friend got hit by a texting driver who didn't stop at a stop sign...Luckily, there were police cars nearby and they literally pulled up to us seconds after she got hit....She is ok for now, nothing broken (as far as we know) but her ankle is pretty knocked up and also cuts on her leg...

I hate retarded drivers who text and drive, or even talk on a cell phone for that matter. I hope that it's against the law in Illinois and that some justice is served. I know I would have teed off on the driver had I been there, especially if I knew the victim of the accident.

Anyway, must spread rep but this looks delicious:

    Day 17

  8. Ok, so I managed to snag a size 30 in these. I can button them fine pre-soak, but I'm concerned about whether I can wear them post-soak. There seem to be two camps in this thread: one that talks about how crazy the shrinkage is on them, and another that says that they stretch a huge amount.
After much hawing, no hemming, and one additional instance of trying on, I've decided I'm going to return them. The problem is that they fit the way I'd want them to fit post-soak just about everywhere. Even if I stop the waistband from shrinking or successfully stretch it back out, they're still going to be too snug through the top block and upper thighs. I think these jeans are fantastic, but they're just not going to work for me in a 30.

I say you made the right choice in returning them. I bought mine TTS and while they fit rather generously pre-soak, after a hot soak and a 20 minute tumble in the dryer followed by a hang dry, they were rather slim. The waist and thighs were snug to begin with and for the first couple of weeks. Since then, they have stretched out to be comfortable although nowhere near the pre-soak measurements.

In summary, TTS is the way to go.

  9. Wore my CPO last week while off duty from work at a mine site:

Co-worker 1: You know, it's a fashion faux pas to wear all denim.

    Me: *shrug*

Co-worker 2: Yeah, he's not even wearing real denim. It looks like that fake crap. It looks all soft.

    Me: *shrug*

  10. I'd be interested in joining if there's a spot left. I'm located in the pacific northwest (Canada), if it hasn't already been represented.

Burgus denim is great quality for the price, been keen to try it out for awhile. It's too bad that it takes a back seat to the big names.

My true waist is 32", but I figure they should be stretched out after a couple of legs into the tour.

  11. Bear with me on the grotesque fit pics....Cuffing made a world of difference...

    IMG_3147.jpg

This pre-soak fit looks proper for this cut. The measurements don't suggest that the 15th 1001xx are a slim fit and as mentioned, Warehouse didn't intend for it to fit slim. Even sized down the fit would be generous, with the exception of the waist.

I was really tempted to buy a pair of these when I saw them at Take5, but I couldn't really afford to buy any more jeans. The selling points for me were the denim, and the fuller cut (my denim collection consists mostly of slimmer cuts). If the Take5 jeans had arcs I would have forced myself to buy a pair.

I say hot soak, toss in the dryer, and enjoy those jeans!

  12. Fit pics for y'all trying to figure out sizing

    Size 32, one-wash (TTS)

    img0392m.jpgimg0395c.jpg

Size 31, one-wash (SDO) (already stretched out)

    img1913t.jpg

From my experience with these, the fit can vary depending on how you soak/wash them. For TTS, If you hang dry them they should be pretty comfortable in the waist and thighs. If you throw them in the dryer, TTS can fit like my SDO fit above.

For SDO, I think a gentle soak and air dry will yield a fit like the SDO fit above. If thrown in the dryer, they would be very painful.

    (My recommendation: go TTS)

    My true waist is 32".

FYI, other jeans that fit me:

    3sixteen SL-100x, ST-100x (Lot 001), size 30

    Iron Heart 9301, size 31

Self Edge x Sugar Cane (SExSC06), size 32

    Flat Head 1001, size 31

Naked and Famous Weird Guy Deep Indigo, size 31

Good luck with the contest, everyone!

  13. Hey, can you tell me how much it shrinks? Thanks!

Buttloads. Inseam shrank from 34.5" to 31". About 2" in the waist, I think. Pretty intense for a first experience with unsanforized denim.

Nice you even kept a water bottle of the indigo water lol. Mine didn't bleed nearly as much since I did a cold soak as per Gino's suggestion. Size 29 as well?

Someone else did it in this thread. When I saw how inky the soak water was, I had to bottle it. The dye and sediment has settled at the bottom now though.

I hot soaked them for 45 minutes, followed by 20 minutes in the dryer on medium, then hung over a heat register to finish drying.

I'm really looking forward to wearing these in warmer weather; the slack weave denim breathes quite nicely.

  14. Dear SuFu,

Stop being so overprivileged and ungrateful.

beatle shouldn't be defending shit. It's pretty obvious that everyone shitting a brick about the contest jeans don't have the balls to commit to a two year-two month contest anyway.

Agreed, Eternal 811 owners will be hard pressed to convince themselves to buy a pair (except those who need a pair to replace their thrashed ones); can't blame them since these jeans can endure 2 years of shitkicking, as this contest will prove.

But for any denimhead who has yet to experience Eternal denim, and the 811 cut this is a sweet offering. Both the denim and the cut are essential, and details like the half lined back pockets and indigo pocket bags are subtle and well thought out.

    Take it or leave it.

P.S. Since when did SuFu bitch about spending $300 on jeans?
