  1. Jeans are looking good, everyone.

Looking at the photos of the worn ST's has me amazed at how much the cut can affect how the denim ages. My SL-100x which have been worn for almost a year (and gone though several washes) have less contrast, and looked nowhere near as faded at the half a year mark.

    Stay tuned, boys and girls.

  2. I noticed something on my MFSC utility chambray after wearing it today: the chainstitching on the left side of the shirt is discontinuous.

    img0644y.jpgimg0645f.jpg

This is really noticeable on the outside of the shirt as the stitching is thicker at some parts and nonuniform, unlike the rest of the stitching on the shirt. It is especially noticeable because of the contrast stitching. On the inside, it is clearly visible that a section was not chainstitched.

I don't typically pore over details of my clothes, but I was inspired after seeing Cotton Duck's posts; that, and this was pretty obvious. I don't recall seeing this on the other MFSC chambray I had, but to be honest I didn't inspect it very closely. Regardless, something looks awry.

Can't say that I'm very impressed right now...

  3. I remember a few months ago someone posted an 8 panel picture of the evolution of their liberty issue CPO. searching the thread is turning up nothing ( i think my search is broken, when i search this thread for CPO, there no matches.... aka broken). can someone re post, quote or PM the image.

    Two great posts.

  4. I was thinking the same thing about a leather sole. If I got something with a leather sole I think I'd put a Topy half sole on it, but that almost seems blasphemous.

The Winn Perry's were supposedly designed for PNW weather:

This boot, like our longwing, features Alden’s "Double Waterloc" oiled leather sole. Offering the beauty of a leather sole with the added functionality of water resistance to dramatically increase the life of your soles on soggy ground.

I had read somewhere that the oiled leather sole wears faster than the traditional leather sole though...? The Winn Perry's are my favourite of those as well. Alas, they are sold out of my size with no restocks in the near future.

  5. I need some help choosing a pair of Alden boots. This would be my primary go-to pair of boots (i.e. worn at least 3 times a week) so I want them to be fairly rugged. They won't see too much abuse though so I also don't want something too casual. I'm located in the Pacific Northwest, so the weather is a bit of concern.

    I'm considering the following:

    Kudu Ultimate Indy

    Vintage Indy

    Officer's Indy

    Straight Tip Boots

    Jumper Boots

    Questions in my head:

How does the Kudu leather age?

Which leather is more appropriate/requires less maintenance (calf, nubuck or shell cordovan?)

Which sole would be most appropriate for the PNW weather (leather, oiled leather, commando)?

The Indy's are an obvious choice, but I prefer the Cap Toe design. I also prefer the sleekness of the double leather sole or at least something with matching sides, unlike the Indy's. I started looking for something calfskin, but shell cordovan is so seductive...

    Opinions?

  6. Andrew, I'm looking forward to seeing all the photos of the worn in denim at the end of the month. I'm still undecided about whether to keep on wearing these after one year or to break out a new pair.

Check your PM's. Got a question about sizing on the utility shirts. Thanks.

  7. The photo of the front is tripping me out. I thought that was a cast on your pinky finger, but then I thought it was the cat's tail. Then I noticed the cat's tail was black, so then thought it was a cast indeed. Now I'm thinking it's the cat's foot. Yeah, it's gotta be the cat's foot... or a cast on your pinky. *brain explodes*

  8. Word is that Leathersoulhawaii is about to order the next run of the Alden Kudu ultimate Indy*** Tom said most of the 48 pairs that will be coming in are already sold - but if you're quick.....

Any chance of another run on the Vintage Indy's? Tom hasn't addressed my inquiries about ordering Aldens through LS and it would be a shame to miss out on a pair if they do another run of the Vintage.

  9. Just got a pair of size 29 Flathead 3001

Haven't soaked them yet but im worried that they won't fit me after the so

Do you guys think i should keep them or sell?

    Fit pics (haven't soaked yet)

Fit looks good. You should be fine with a cautious 20 minute cold or warm soak and hang dry.

  10. No, it would not be safe if you sized down to a 30. You will be suffering in a size 30, if you can get into them at all.

My waist measures 32" and my thighs 22" around at the thickest (11" if you divide by 2). I cannot comfortably wear a pair of jeans which measure any less than 11.5" in the thigh (at the crotch).

If the thigh measurement on the jeans is the same as your actual thigh measurement you'll:

    a) lose circulation to your legs

    B) lose circulation to your nuts

    c) destroy your jeans in no time

    d) destroy your legs and nuts in no time

    e) all of the above <------- (correct answer)

If your thighs actually measure 23" (11.5" x 2) around at the thickest, I'm skeptical if you would even be able to fit a tagged 32. These will shrink a fair amount. Just look at the one wash measurements compared to the raw (the BiG measurements seem to be on the small side).

Like I said, my true waist measures 32", and I would go no less than a tagged 31. Unless you've got some pinner legs, you wouldn't fit in anything smaller.

Based on what you've said, I say go 32 or 33.

  11. pardon me guys, im silent reader here, rarely posting..

im totally confuse with the BiG sizing. im getting the RAW one, and my true waist is 32 inch. so what size should i get?

the size 30, measured 31. which will accommodate 1 inch stretch (to 32) - wear?

or should i get the size 31, measured 32, which then will (stretch to 33) ??

i used size 30 in slim jim. but true waist is 32.

    really appreciate your help..cheers

Depending on your bodily measurements, I'd say go with 31, 32, or even 33 in raw or one-wash. 30 would be very slim unless you have very slender thighs.

I'm also a true 32 and I have the 811's in both size 32 and 31 (one-wash). The 31's have stretched out to fit comfortably, whereas the 32's were comfortable from the start. I mostly wear the 31's, which have stretched out to be comfortable in the waist. They are still pretty slim through the thighs though. The 32's are a more comfortable fit while still being slim. I've posted fit pics of both in this thread somewhere.

Also, even the one-wash will further shrink if thrown in the dryer. My tagged 32 pair was accidentally thrown in the dryer and the waist has shrunk to 31". They'll probably stretch back out though.

  12. what are the main differences between the f310 series and the 1001s? other then any color difference. thanks. trying decide which to get

Different denim (14oz vs. 16oz), different hardware (zipper fly vs. button fly). Basically, the only thing they have in common are the cut and the construction, although the two types of denim do fade similarly.

  13. You're a chump. It's not my fault you were so trigger happy with the fucking payment knowing FULL WELL I stated CONUS for my price. By the way that price hike was back up to COST due to multiple interested buyers, and I openly updated that. I go by what USPS gave me for shipping rates to Canada. I asked for the extra $20 to Canada because you are located in VANCOUVER I'm located on the east coast of the US. Seriously, no one put a gun to your head buddy. You're too much of a hassle to sell a pair of jeans to. Next thing you know you get the jeans and see one smidge of faded indigo and start ranting...

And if I remember correctly it was you soliciting me to sell the jeans on the Flat Head thread (not saying you put a gun to MY head) stating that my fit looks uncomfortable lmao. http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showthread.php?t=10650&page=373 You were the first to hop on the jeans within hours of my posting. Well played sir.

Explain how you had multiple buyers lining up two weeks ago, but decided not to sell the jeans. Instead, you decide to relist them two weeks later. Sounds like somebody got cold feet about selling and was looking for any excuse to back out...

I didn't even realize that these were the jeans that you were selling after I commented in the Flat Head thread. According to your description of the jeans in the thread, you're saying that those are the Flat Head BSP's (3XXX denim). And who are you trying to kid? Would you be selling these jeans if they actually fit you properly? (Probably yes since you're a "rampant buyer")

Nice try, but your wild accusations don't hide the fact that you shit the bed.
