  1. Among many international retailers I have tried, SE's shipping is one of the fasest. The average delivery time is 4 days to Australia.
man not only is SE shipping fast... it's magical

swear i ordered jawns and received them the next day. <3

I concur, shipping to Aust is quick as. And were like heaps far away like yeah
I ordered four times from them. Twice the goods made it to Holland in five days (ordered Friday, delivered Wednesday), twice it took a bit longer because customs got a hold of the stuff. SE rules!
Important thing is that selfedge gets the stuff shipped on the same day pretty much always. Quickesgt shipping Ive had on the net although it always seems to take a bit longer to get here from that side of the states than the east (to UK that is!)

In my experience, shipping to Canada (west coast) from Self Edge via USPS takes at least a week (5 business days), and that's half the distance to these other international destinations. Ordered last Saturday and still waiting... You guys are getting your shipments from Self Edge faster than I am. NAFTA my ass!

Turquoise Mini-Herringbone sure sold out in a hurry... blerg!

  2. I did compare then to my Levi's 505's, and the measurements are pretty similar. But I was surprised when someone at BiG told me that they are a tight jean. Definitely not looking for tight, and I don't want to drop 225 bucks on something I don't like a LOT.

Sidneylo-can you compare the fit of the 811's to the fit of Levi's 501's or 505's (if you own any)?

    Thanks.

I'd say the 811 (one-wash, true to size) are slim. FYI, I am 5'9", 160lbs, 32" waist, 22" thighs. A tagged 32 on me is slim, and a 31 is tight. If you are 5'10" and 135 lbs with a 32" waist, I can't imagine a tagged 32 being remotely tight on you. Even a 31 probably wouldn't be tight.

I'll try to snap a fit pic this weekend.

  3. Thank you, girls! Someone buy that feather one please. Take notes from the feather ring, the bracelet will be super pretty. I cannot help looking at the ring. The quality is unbelievable. Since i want something different, I got the bow one :)

The bow bracelet is my favourite of all of the SE bracelets. I've never been much of a jewelry person though so I can't imagine myself wearing it.

edit: Did you get funny looks in the grocery store when you took off your ring and started taking photos of it in the snack(?) aisle?

  4. Naked & Famous Weird Guy

    Size 31

This is my first pair of raw denim and I bought it back in December. I tore my ankle ligament so i couldn't wear them for a month so about 5 months of wear. No washes/rinses

I want to get a pair of APC's but I want a looser fit at the thigh part. Just a more consistent fit if that's the right word to use. What cut and size would you guys suggest?

Your Weird Guys are looking good! Keep at them and they should turn out great. The fit looks pretty similar to my size 31 Weird Guys, except mine are a little roomier in the thigh (I probably should have sized down 2 instead of 1). Yours is definitely one of the better WG fits that I've seen so far.

As for recommendations for your next pair, what fit are you going for (slim, relaxed, tapered, straight leg, etc.)? It would also help to know your measurements (true waist , thighs, inseam). I think we're about the same size, and I find most slim cuts work well (tapered or straight). Going from N&F to APC, I think you'll be disappointed. If you want to try a pair of slim straights, the 3sixteen SL denim is a great alternative to APC NS at a similar price point.

Just got in some Weird Guy indigo's. The best part is I paid $78 during Farinelli's sale.

Definitely could have sized down one. The Weird Guy cut isn't very forgiving or flattering when sized too big. I had a similar fit in the top block for my Deep Indigo WG's when I first had them, and I hated how they fit. I ended up hot soaking the top block which got them to shrink and fit better. Depends on the fit you're going for, I guess, but IMO they'd look best sized down one more (2?)

  5. I skimmed the thread, and general consensus seems to suggest to buy true to size, or size up one. I'm 6' tall, 160 lbs, true waist of about 32-33". I was thinking about the 1001. So, sufu, true to size or size up one? Just for reference, I wear a 29 apc ns (which I should've sized 1 more down) and a 31 imp duke.
go to selfedge and find out yourself

i sized down one on 1001

+1. I also sized down one on 1001 but seriously, if you're in SF just go to SE and try them on for yourself.

  6. the black coated looks pretty ill. if only they made a denim jacket to match with it for a good price point.
Ditto on that denim jacket comment -- I'd buy that for sure, though it wouldn't be like anything 3sixteen usually does.

It's not a denim jacket, but the 3sixteen Roxanne jacket is a classic:

The jeans appear to have been soaked here. Didn't see any info about the soak though. Not that the soak info on your custom pair of jeans is relevant to most of us, but for the sake of documenting every step of making your jeans, how were these soaked? Does kuniyoshi-san soak all of his jeans after he's finished making them (the unsanforized ones, at least), or does he leave some of them raw?

You mentioned that kuniyoshi-san doesn't find a significant difference in hemming pre- or post-soak, with respect to roping. It appears like he hemmed them after they were soaked; is this his preference so that the final hemmed length is exact?

  8. So hot. 佐々木希 is cute too...<3 <320080322163155.jpg

edit: posted this earlier at work without listening to the audio. just heard the corny music that goes with it now. 10000x more awesome!

  9. You win a fridge!

    No need to get smart...

I did not know that the chambrays came in a one-wash version until after I bought mine. Had I known that I was buying the one-wash version and that the sizing of was different, I would have bought a medium. The fact that a tagged large in one-wash fits differently from a tagged large in raw after it has been washed is very confusing...

    Now where's my fridge?

dabronxy, sorry for shitting up your thread.

  10. Last picture you posted, on the label, upper left hand corner a stamped "L".

And a raw Large shrinks down to almost the exact measurements of a washed Medium.

    Ahh, I see it now.

So the raw version shrinks more than the one-wash version...?

edit: it just occurred to me that maybe the one-wash sizing is the same as the raw (pre-wash) sizing (i.e. a one-wash L = a raw XL)

  11. (it's also stamped "L")

    Where's the stamp? I can't see it...

The sizing on these sure is confusing.

These are the measurements from SE for the raw unwashed version:

    Medium Large

    Chest 41 44

    Length 29 31

    Sleeve 24 25.5

    Shoulder 17.8 18.8

These are the measurements from Hinoya for the one-wash version:

    Medium Large

    Pit-to-pit 20.9 22.0

    Length 29.1 29.5

    Sleeve 23.6 25.6

    Shoulder 17.7 18.5

These are the measurements for dabronxy's shirt from a yahoo.jp site:

    Medium Large

    Pit-to-pit 20.9 22.0

    Length 28.7 30.7

    Sleeve 23.6 25.2

    Shoulder 17.3 18.1

These are the measurements for the one-wash chambray I have

    Large

    Pit-to-Pit 21.5

    Length 31

    Sleeve 25.5

    Shoulder 18.25

The one-wash measurements don't look too far off from the raw measurements. kiya also said that the one-wash versions will not shrink any further, so it doesn't look like these shrink a full size after a wash (i.e. sizing up is not necessary).

dabronxy, could you please post the actual measurements for your shirt when you have a chance?

  12. Naked and Famous Weird Guys. Sized Down 2 because I thought a 29 which measures 31 around the waist would fit my 31 true waist. They're definitely tight, but I think once they're completely broken in they'll look great.

The fit isn't bad, but the Weird Guy cut isn't the most flattering on guys with bigger thighs. They have a bit of a "carrot" cut to them, so they make large thighs look bigger, especially if sized down two. If that's the look you're going for, then keep on rocking.

I posted my Weird Guys a while back, but I'll repost it here:

I couldn't stand the looseness and hip flare in the top block so I hot soaked these to just above the knees (so I wouldn't have to reset my honeycombs). Somewhere I got the impression that these were sanforized, but since the denim felt loose I knew I could get some shrinkage.

    Pre-soak measurements

    Waist: 34"

    Thigh (at crotch): 12"

    Thigh (1" below crotch): 11.5"

    Pre-soak fit:

    IMG_1988.JPGIMG_1991.JPG

    Post Soak measurements

    Waist: 33"

    Thigh (at crotch): 11.8"

    Thigh (1" below crotch): 11.3"

    Post-soak fit:

    IMG_0002.jpgIMG_0004.jpg

Much happier with the fit now, although there is still some hip flare... There was some indigo loss from the soak and the sheen on the denim is gone. It'll be interesting to see if the top block fades faster than the legs now.

I also slimmed down since I first started wearing these so that helped out a bit too. FYI, I'm 5'9", 160lbs, true waist 32", wearing a tagged 31.

  13. I just tried 3sixteen's blackcoated jeans. Very interesting cut and fabric. The back pockets are very low, around the knee area, as tight as NC, but more generous on the legs, slightly higher rise from the back, longer inseam, wider leg openning - so I cuffed. No pocket details - a details that I like most. Will keep them since they are so differnt from the ACP jeans I own.

    Fit pics, please?
