  1. Speaking of affordable goodyear welted shoes/boots, has anyone tried Berwick? https://berwickshoes.com/gb/man/shoes/ And also Brotherbridge (Japanese brand)? These had me double taking, especially when paired with black waxed laces https://brotherbridgetokyo.com/collections/the-henry/products/henryヘンリー-vintage-blk-calf

    Denime

Where can I buy this fast fading denim, and will I have enough time before the WOM contest begins? 😂 Regarding fast fading pairs, it's been a number of years since I've worn WH (I don't remember my OG's fading that fast), and I haven't tried this new Denime yet either, but lets be honest, these are businesses (WH being probably, if not THE biggest of the repro groups) and it behooves them to churn out products and get people to buy more. I think I'm okay with this when the right balance is struck, though I can also appreciate hard wearing jeans that don't fade fast either (my Ooe's seeming particularly stubborn of late)
  3. Most excellent find! Funny enough, I just saw a pair of these on YouTube the other day in case you want to see how they might fade:
  4. before anyone did anything SUFU did everything 🙏
  5. ^Thank you for the recap gents! I'd long fallen out of the denimsphere by that time (watches have been my financial ruin in the time since), so it's so strange for me to read how things turned out. Still, I'm glad to be back on sufu, and anytime I checked in over at DB during that period, I thought it was already long dead 😅
  6. Agreeing with @Broark; Haven't gotten around to breaking my pair in yet, but I know they'll produce some amazing results. Making good progress with a pair of Ooe's however, and have been prioritizing them in the meantime
  7. Laughed out loud seeing I have the widest waist and shortest hem of all the contest pairs 😂 Looking forward to it! Also big shout out to everyone involved, I can't believe how quick we turned this around, it's like an unheard of sufu miracle! As far as what I'm aiming for, the 1942's (albeit cinchback version) at the 36:15 mark should just about do it (not to mention two grail status to me 1946 pairs before it): And I'll continue to wear my Ooe OA01XX and FC 1101's until contest start! Will be fun to do a side to side next to my WOMCON jeans raw
  8. Almost want to make a thread for this, but reading through the "Most sought after denim" thread, I'm wondering what everyone's favorite pair they've ever worn in looks like? Something like a "Show your personal best/favorite faded jeans". For me it'd be my Ooe LHT Contest jeans, which I sorely need to photograph some day. How about everyone else?
  9. This is actually exactly what I was going for and how I wear my jeans now! Since a 39" isn't possible I'm deciding between 38" and 40", definitely leaning 40" though so they may be a bit oversized but I suppose in line with current fashion trends 😅
  10. Re: Sizes available: 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 40, 42, 44 Just verifying I can still order a size 39 which isn't listed? @MJF9
  11. ^Fun thread bump @Talan, I missed this one! Overall Favorite: No surprise here, going with Ooe Yofukuten. Biased as I still look back fondly at the days of full customization, and receiving those mini fabric swatches in the mail, deliberating which to go with. In their current form, they still haven't lost the magic and soul which draws me to them. It's crazy how I can look at a pair of OA's and just feel the love and effort put into them despite their subtle nature (subtlety being another attribute I fawn over with OA). The natural fades over time, construction and details, perfect cuts for my body shape, and Ryo and Hiro themselves being so awesome, it's hard for me to choose any others! Favorite Fabrics (no order): Warehouse 15th Anniversary Fullcount 13.7oz standard denim OAXX (Ooe Yofukuten first iteration of OAXX denim) Any old school Denime Brands I Recommend to non-Denimheads: Resolute: clean cuts for modern/adult tastes 45rpm: beautiful fades, a bit overpriced but high-fashion adjacent Fullcount: super soft and comfortable, variety of cuts Most Vintagelike Freewheelers Special Shoutouts: Warehouse: for pushing the repro world as far as they have, and continuing to innovate and launch new brands Sugar Cane: uncompromising value TCB: entrepreneurial spirit and saving Okayama culture Samurai: just wild...can't wear heavy weight fabrics anymore but still much respect to that ethos lol
  12. Some pictures after applying Fiebing's Brown Edge Dressing. Looks so much better in my opinion, not really a fan of natural edges. Also swapped out the laces for the waxed laces (also included), though forgot to snap some photos. I'm certainly no boots expert. But I've worn White's, Wesco, Alden, etc. over the last 20 years. Never really had an eye for Red Wing. I appreciated the history, but didn't quite understand their use case since my PNW boots were much more robust, and my Alden's more dressier. All these years later, I find PNW boots too clunky and heavy, and my Alden's not robust enough. Suddenly Red Wing made perfect sense, and prices haven't really skyrocketed luckily. Some complain that these new Beckman's don't have the Japan version flatbox toe of yore (which I would've preferred), or that the heel should be stacked leather for the price. But for the price, I think these represent a perfect midway boot that looks dressy enough, and still robust enough without being cumbersome or hard on my geriatric knees. Looking forward to putting the miles in!
  13. Impressive lists everyone! @julian-wolf why do I want to add a column notating duration of wear, as well as brand sub-totals, totals, etc.? 😂
  14. Bought the newly re-released RW Beckman boots in black. Kind of a pointless post without pictures, etc. but I'll have that up shortly. I plan on using some edge dressing to brown the natural trim, not a fan of that look and prefer the original colorway, but the boots were nice enough to take the plunge
  15. Ace tip, thank you! Found lots to work with with all of the above, putting in some orders now 😆🙏
  16. Any Japanese brands that make an XXL (US XL equivalent)? If not, any good alternatives? Seems they all cap at Japanese XL

    Jelado

https://jelado.com/products/jelado-supreme-55denim-jp03301 LE 55 cut for Jelado constructed via REBUILT (https://www.instagram.com/rebuilt.jp/?hl=en), really interesting collab with a price tag to match
  18. Ughhhh....I think me too, despite saying I'd go straight '47s that sounds like a dream pair. Had a pair of WH 1003XX circa 2010 in that configuration (crotch rivet, denim pocket bags, no buckle) that I sold due to sizing issues. This will be a good revenge pair 14 years later. And also, you had me at "Ooe", let's be honest, it'll ease the pain from "cheating" on my Ooe's awaiting wear 😂
  19. My take is basically at that temperature you're going to be hot no matter what, might as well wear what you want 😂
  20. Such a solid group! Just like the old days, good to see everyone jumping on board 😆 Deposit paid!
  21. Congrats @beautiful_FrEaK my friend! What a way to commemorate/kick start this contest!
  22. We've all seen the Japanese Interment camp photos over the years, but this one is new to me: https://www.instagram.com/p/C_dg0-9vFbr/?img_index=2
  23. Just thinking out loud here...Since we're going RS1950 I might switch up to a 1947 pair instead of WWII. Decisions, decisions! I'll also likely resume my typical washing routine given the 18 month timeline (3 months no wash, regular washing after that but no dryer this time around) instead of my last few pairs which I've been holding off on washes for, a la APC mid 2000's 😂 Sizing up to W39 and will probably get them hemmed real short like 24" inseam to float nice and high without cuffing
  24. Real special thing, those Ooe's...FW's real nice as well of course, but that Ooe stitching and details really gets me going! Sad I missed out on that pair, though I'm happy to own the Mechanics Overalls
  25. Thank you everyone! Will also likely size up to 39" since it's an option. I can swing 38" as with most of the repro brands, but have a tendency for crotch blowouts at that size, so the extra space will be appreciated
