  1. I’m pretty sure the Wrangler archives pairs are made under licence by Edwin. I believe Lee have been made under licence at various times by Edwin and Real McCoys, and possibly Warehouse.
  2. In bullet point format! I don’t need to travel to Bradford to experience diversity, I live in a diverse area and always have done I don’t want to visit for poverty porn tourism. If I did there are many places a lot closer to me that would fit the bill. The same logic applies to the nicer parts too Despite the culture badge, I feel the centre of Bradford has little to tempt me, beyond some interesting and ornate Victorian architecture, definitely nothing worth the 350 mile round trip for. If I lived nearby like you, I’d be happy to pop over there for a day though Given how little free time and limited opportunities to travel I have, I’d rather spend that time in more aesthetically pleasing environments. I’ve already visited plenty of cities in the UK If I were to venture into that neck of the woods, I’d want to watch a Rugby League match and visit the Piece Hall in Halifax and Saltaire!
  3. Some extra info for anyone interested. We’re in Kefalonia, one of the Ionian islands, which became better known via Louis de Bernières’ novel ‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’ and the subsequent film starring Nicolas Cage and Penélope Cruz. I won’t give you the potted history of the island as I’m sure Wikipedia can do that much better than me. We’re staying in Lourdas on the south coast, just below the village of Vlachata and about a mile walk along a meandering road to the sea (it must be very salty here as it’s the only place I’ve ever been able to float in - I’ve never been to the Dead Sea). It’s at the foot of Mt Aenos, which stands at 1628m, almost 300m higher than Ben Nevis, and the peak is often shrouded in cloud. You can see the neighbouring island of Zakynthos very clearly from here. I’m just with the teenagers as Mrs F is currently working (on series 2 of CIA thriller ‘The Agency’ starring Michael Fassbender). We’re having a very low-key week as my daughter just got back from a week at surf camp in Galicia and my son is due to do his DofE Gold expedition in Snowdonia (Eryri) next week having done the practice expedition in the Brecon Beacons (Bandai Brycheiniog) earlier this month and then working at a Forest Camp in Ireland. Consequently we’re all happy to do very little! Here’s a selection of the wildlife we’ve encountered so far (lizard, dead eel, praying mantis) and also my holiday reading. We were visited by a big Labrador type dog last night that tried to get into our pool! That’s all folks!
  4. I bought these shades in a half price sale at Clutch Café a few years back.
  5. I don’t think there really is such a thing as the ultimate result. Embrace the wabi sabi.
  6. Texas tux is alliterative too so sounds better.
  7. Hi @buler, sorry to hear about your diagnosis but it sounds like the medical intervention went well. Here’s to a thorough recovery and I hope the next time you mention PSA, it’s in this context
  8. Most things I no longer want, or fit as I’d like, rather than try to sell, I just give them to my 17 yr old son!
  9. Would you feel slightly deceived if you discovered your Mexican huaraches were made in Bangladesh, your Persian rug in Botswana, your Colombian congas in China? It doesn’t make them lesser products but displays a lack of transparency and possibly authenticity. You’re right that modern production supply chains are complex but some consumers simply want to have a bit more information about what they’re buying, particularly if they believe they’re paying a premium and that includes higher cost labour (with potentially better working conditions) to justify that price. Unfortunately, laws/rules around the provenance of goods seem to enable a broad interpretation and allow companies to deliberately confuse/mislead their customers.
  10. ^^ But being transparent likely means lower prices, as seen in Broark’s post above, and therefore impacts the bottom line.
