Some pics of my 50s as I mentioned them in the Denim Blunders thread and realised I hadn't shared before.
  2. Well for my sins I was on styleforum off and on 😅. Early 2010s I was more into Engineered Garments and the early Soloist collections, stuff like that. I had APCs and black LVC 1978 501 but wasn’t really a denim nerd. Late 2010s- weaker pound post-brexit I slowed down on proxying anything from Japan and less interested in clothes in general for a bit. In 2020 I got some TCB 50s and that ended up being a tipping point for me (should post some pics of them come to think of it). Lots more denim and repro stuff followed and I found myself lurking over here often and eventually felt like I might as well join in. Like, if I’m browsing anyway to see what people are saying about Slash Overalls or something then why not? It’s a more relaxed vibe here as well. styleforum still seems prone to odd nonsense and drama in the main threads. And like other people on here I'm of that age that grew up with forums and find the new social media landscape just weird.
  3. There was a limited edition wwii jacket produced with samurai. Think it sold very fast. https://www.samurai-jeans.com/en/collections/jacket/products/os555xx-15oz男気デニムジャケット
  4. Surely there must be a Tender Co fan out there somewhere with some parsley and radishes sprouting out the cuffs of their Oxford jeans. This is what I choose to believe anyway 😄
  5. Ha yeah I guess the tips will curl up and stick out more? Didn’t think of that. I was stuck on the philosophical choice of pairing a Lee adjacent jacket repro with Levi’s style jeans as a ‘matching’ setup 🙃 Glad someone is considering practicality!
  6. The type ii looks like a Copper King/ Can’t Bust ‘Em repro https://vintage-mushroom.net/?pid=178886059 I actually like the pocket flaps…
  7. From a distance the bartacks almost look like someone forgot to sew the horizontal bits of 506 pleat stitching... my brain wants to fill in the lines And I think if your hidden placket is only going to cover 50% of the buttons down the front of the jacket you should probably give up on the idea 😀
  8. Slash / Freewheelers / Codina / SC 1943 / Nicks
  9. Haha nice jeans @Broark!! yeah maybe same seller. There's been a couple of nice Slash things come up lately. Think you'll enjoy how they come to life when you come round to washing them.
  10. I'm a bit of 506 nut as some of you may have guessed and while I wasn't short of jackets to work on, I'd had in mind a Slash Overalls one for a while and won a BNWT/raw one at auction (having previously been outbid on a WWII model). Seam puckering is pretty awesome after a soak, which is really Slash's thing. Fit is close to my platonic ideal for a 506- shorter body length than Freewheelers or SC 1945, right amount of dropped shoulder, sleeves are bang on, and its fitted but not as slim as my Neat Style/Denim Bridge (although it's a size larger than the Neat Style to be fair) - hoping it doesn't change much with subsequent washes. Raw vs soaked The white buttons stand out enough I think my co-workers might actually notice its a different jacket (think the last couple have all passed for being one and the same) Think I got a bit enthusiastic rinsing under the tap after soaking and got some staining from the patch... don't want to wash again yet so it'll stay for now
  11. Ironalls label still hanging on... iPhone SE shaped front pocket fades evened out to not be too obvious thankfully lol... They are double front to the hem so not blown all the way through the cuffs yet...
  12. Neat Style x Denim Bridge WWII / At Last & Co Lot 212 / Nicks
  13. Looking forward to your impressions on the 45 jeans- I haven't caved in yet (have the 42s coming in Bears 2nd delivery) but its tempting for the full tux...
  14. Still early days with my jacket but think 1945 will be a reasonably quick fader like 1946. Hope yours lands soon beautiful_FrEaK!
  15. Thanks... got them in 2021, had some hard wear for a couple of years, then more occasional after that as just too many other pairs on the go and my TCB Viktor's Voice got more of the light oz/ warm weather wear.
  16. Papa Nui x Major's Tailor / Sugar Cane 1945 / Codina x Rite Stuff / Freewheelers Ironalls 102 / Nicks Weather warming up so brought Ironalls I haven't worn in ages back into rotation.
  17. 1945 506 I got one wash actually from Bears (43 and 46 jeans I had from raw). I like the fit overall but the armhole is less comfortable than my Freewheelers Type I's. I'm hoping it'll settle down with wear - ptp is certainly big enough but not a jacket I would advise sizing down on even if say shoulder measurements look generous. Front length is on the longer side. The weft colour on 1945 is noticeably warmer/ more beige was one of my main first impressions. Also when buttoned it's a little bit 'wavy'. like buttons or button holes aren't totally aligned? I actually quite enjoy how it looks... presumably true to the vintage jacket.
  18. Sugar Cane 1945 & 1943 / Armor Lux / Nicks
  19. Sculptor David Smith in his studio in 1951 in a Type I. I dig the cap and workshirt too https://www.moma.org/calendar/exhibitions/3346?
  20. Sorry, more of the jacket... vs Sugar Cane s1945 Neat Style armhole seems cut a bit tighter / less straight which is maybe what has been making me question sizing choice...
  21. Some pics of my Neat Style Kiwami WWII jeans and Neat Style x Denim Bridge. Jeans are the 'irregular' model with destroyed patch, wonky red tab and rusted top button which are supposed to be like B-stock sitting in a warehouse for 80 years lol. I got them as they were a pair in stock and the regular Kiwami WWII has long lead time. I kinda thought I'd hate the destroyed patch but it doesn't bother me in the end. Denim is quite streaky but less hairy and stubby than say, Sugar Cane S1943. Denim used for Kiwami WWII and the Denim Bridge models very similar but maybe different colour (notwithstanding wear washing making colour difference). Stitching character is quite different with the Denim Bridge models however (thicker more yellow thread, different quirks). Next to Sugar Cane S1943 and 1946. Neat Style back pockets a touch smaller which I don't like. Neat Style sizing is small so this is tag size 34 vs Sugar Cane size 32.
