  1. I think the idea is that for items under £135, the retailer is supposed to collect VAT at the point of sale and send it on to the UK government. For items over that amount, VAT and duties (£135 is the cut-off for duty) are collected at the border instead (i.e. via your courier). So if your Japanese retailer doesn't collect VAT on an item under £135 (which in my experience, they don't), it won't be collected further down the line either. But I'm no expert, this is just what I understand to be the case and it tallies with my experience. There's some helpful info here: https://www.theguardian.com/money/2021/jan/21/eu-website-purchases-the-import-charges-uk-customers-have-to-pay

    Any pictures of that?

This is what I mean. I appreciate that this is a feature, not a bug. We all know that denim twists when you wash it. The effect in the top block just seems more accentuated in these jeans.

This is the first time I’ve posted a picture of my crotch to the internet (that I’m willing to admit to).

  3. Following the nice review from  @beautiful_FrEaK I have a couple of observations after wearing my pair of 47s for around a year.

    1. Compared to other jeans with a similar medium rise, I find the 47s quite unforgiving of hip-slip. By which I mean, I have to wear a belt to keep them high on my hips otherwise the fit becomes quite unflattering. This isn’t necessarily a problem, but I don’t love wearing a belt. This may also be peculiar to my body shape.

    2. The long fly placket that bF mentioned really accentuates the twist of the top block after a few washes and the top of the fly ends up quite significantly displaced from the centre. Again, not necessary a problem, but it can look quite funny if worn with a shirt. The placket of the shirt will sit an inch or more sideways from the fly placket (apparently this alignment is known as the ‘gig line’ in military parlance).

Generally I think they’re a nice pair of jeans, but these two points somehow mean I don’t find them as easy to wear as other pairs I own.

@tjsma Thanks. I might try the FW 1941 since I don’t expect the WH 1082 to be available anytime soon. Do you know if the FW are 100% cotton stitched? I know the WH are.

I don’t know, to be honest. You could ask in the Freewheelers thread. I’m sure someone could tell you.

    Hey all,

Big apologies if this isn't the place to ask but feel free to direct me to the correct thread if so.

I've got a weeks worth rotation of Warehouse 4601 T-shirts which I've been wearing for a couple years and hard to argue with the quality and frankly how well they've worn even after washing after each wear.

However, although I don't mind the boxy fit in the body, whenever I put on a different shirt I'm reminded how much I'd like the sleeves just a little more fitted. I haven't got the arms to fill out any shirt to be honest but something that tents out a little less would be perfect.

Any other loop wheeled tees that are of the same quality but with a slightly different sleeve cut?

    Thanks.

If you are still looking for T-shirts, I recently bought a couple of ringer T-shirts from Warehouse that seem to be made from the same loopwheel fabric as the 4601 but have a slimmer arm: https://www.ware-house.co.jp/?pid=96424783

  6. @mstax I can’t help with your search for Warehouse chinos. However, I own a pair of the FW M-1941 chinos and think they’re great. The quality is superb. The rise and taper are personal preferences, of course, but I’m happy with both on these. The rise is fairly high, but not ridiculously so, and I find it very comfortable. I don’t notice the taper, although I did have the last few inches lopped off (since I’m a shorty), which has presumably given mine a wider leg opening than standard.

  7. Has anyone else found Warehouse jeans to continue to shrink in length with washing for longer than other brands’ jeans? I made the rookie error of having my 1001xx pair shortened before they had finished shrinking. They must have had four or five 40C washes at that point though. My other jeans (Freewheelers, Sugar Cane) were pretty much finished shrinking after one or two washes. My 1001 are still wearable, but I think I’ll need to wash them cold for the rest of their lives.

  8. Can I interest anyone in a pair of Freewheelers 601b jeans? Waist 31”, length 32”. They are practically new. I’ve only worn them twice, mostly just around the house. I bought these from Genco in Japan for 28,200JPY. They’re lovely jeans, but sadly the fit isn’t quite right for me. I’m looking for 100GBP plus postage. I’m happy to share additional photos and measurements with anyone interested.

    Update: these are now sold.

I haven't worn the 1966, but I'd take the same size in the 1947 as the WH 1001xx, or maybe one size larger than the WH, depending on how slim you like them.

I concur with this. I have pairs of WH 1001xx and SC 1947 in the same size and both fit well.
