a nice single .5" cuff with no break looks really sharp on these,

shortish inseam so small single cuff was only option for me, but yea suits these jeans well

  2. I'm kind of a sucker for indigo indigo, so when I saw I could get the jacket below at around 30% off (on denimio), I didn't hesitate. Never thought my first type 2 would be from Oni, but there you go.

It's a really smart looking jacket. It's all tonal stitched and even the deerskin patch is dyed in indigo! It's made of duck canvas as opposed to Oni's usual offering of slubby denim, so that adds to its smart look.

The fit is great apart from the small sleeve openings. Have to undo the cuff buttons, which is not a problem, but it's just odd it's that small compared with rest of the arm. Anyway, I can wear it over t-shirt and button up if I wanted or even wear over one of Iron Heart's UHF shirts (and not button up). Looks great either way.

  3. I'm the same as kevypf

I think if you really want to try out a different fit or style (or whatever) for a period of time, and then decide if you'll stay with it or not, then buying second hand is the way to go. I bought my freewheelers 1951 second hand, because i wanted to try out a wider fitting pair of jeans. Downside of it was that it had been hemmed a fair bit and not chainstitched, but for the price I got it at, it was a compromise I had no problems making. Been a good buy, evidenced by the fact i'm wearing them right now as I type ^_^

  4. Okayama seems to automatically mark down the value, so you may either pay no customs or lot less than you imagined.

Anyway good stuff on finally pulling the trigger. As I said in your thread, Japan Blue is a good starting point into this type of denim world. I'm sure you'll be blown away by the quality of the jeans compared to G-Star

  5. Thanks @LQW much appreciated!

I love flannel pocket bags too. All that loose thread looks cool to me. Denim looks pretty sweet and neppy. What are your thoughts on the denim itself?

Picked up a pair of Hinoya x Warehouse 1003xx in Ueno a two weeks ago... I should throw up some pics sometime. Anyone know how much the denim shrinks over time? They're still a bit loose after two soaks.

That would be great if you could! If possible could you also put up post-soak measurements (and pre if you noted it down) please?

They've interested me, but feel they could be a bit too wide for me

  7. Just to let you know that what one brand call a certain fit is not the same with other brands. Always better to go with measurements like the 12 inch+ front rise and leg opening of 7-8 inches you said above. I think people will be able to help you better with suggestions now. Also what is your waist measurement?

Somet have recently released high tapered fit, but legs are very slim (can check out on blueingreen website). Not a fan of the painted back pockets, but it might be your thing.

Japan Blue as others have suggested have a few high tapered jeans out. They are a sub-brand of Momotaro (top quality japanese brand). If you are worried about spending lot of money on your first pair then I would start there as they are on the lower end of the price scale but with good quality.

  8. You get what you pay for at that price. N&F are fine for their price. In terms of construction, their quality does not come close to the japanese brands (made in japan).

If you are making the step up from G-Star, then i'm sure you will be impressed.
