Mine are not "heritage" but I do have one from Etsy that's chambray. My favorite, though, is from Outdoor Research, it's easy to breath through and came with some extra filters. I also got some "PM2.5" filters from Amazon, although I have a feeling that the coffee filter I was using before is just as effective. However, I need those for coffee! I have one without a wire, but I definitely prefer the nose wire. Otherwise my glasses fog up. I need to find one with head ties and a nose wire for extended use, the elastic ear loops work fine but they get annoying.

just ordered a couple of the OR masks. We’ll see how they go. They have a nose-wire, yeah?

@elmcitizen haha I see you’re getting some too. They look pretty nice/functional!

Those types of Instagram posts and users seem to reflect a much different audience and much different corresponding values (compared those in the community here). The "flat lay" thing, especially with the dude sitting in the middle of concentric circles of his belongings, tries to testify to or champion his curatorial talents at the expense of what makes the clothes interesting or admirable. To wit, it's all about him and not about the clothes.

There’s also the braggadocio attached to it that gets me as well. Don’t get me wrong, I own a shit load more things than I should (or feel that I should), but I don’t think it’s a good look to posture how much you can acquire and consume.

  3. So RE the Oak Street boots; after some debate with the operations manager(not much, but some push back), I exchanged for another identical pair. The new pair are much better. I think because they contract out to other makers, it’s harder for them to QC properly. Still though, the boots aren’t drop-shipped, and they should pull a pair with shitty stitching before it leaves their HQ.

^^ They might be right, but I've never had a pair of boots that looked like that, and I've owned many pairs of goodyear welted boots from different makers (never Oak Street though). Looks like sloppy stitching.

I’m kind of on the fence. If it’s just sloppy and will disappear with wear, I can live with it. If it’s going to leak water through, or make it harder to resole down the way, they have to go back. OSB assured me that it wouldn’t affect structural integrity, but if they send pairs out off the line like this and don’t see anything wrong with it, I don’t think I can take their word for it.

  5. Hello everyone, let me preface this by saying I don’t know jack shit about boots compared to you all. I have a question regarding a pair of OSB trench boots I received recently. I’ve had two pairs before in the past, no issues. I loved the elston last, and hate fussing with buying shoes online. Much harder for me to nail down than denim. So knowing that I like the last a knew my size I ordered this new pair.
Anyway, I received them Saturday with what looks like serious gaps around the welt revealing the stitching. I asked the folks on the GYW reddit and I was told to send them back; contacted OSB and was told that the leather will relax and at that point stitching won’t be visible. Sounds a bit like I’m being had. What do you folks think? See pics

  6. @Broark I know you’ve probably sent them off, but I’ll bet you could also just put a tiny bit of JB weld on that. They make specific versions for copper that I’ve used to repair copper plumbing joints.

EDIT: nevermind; it looks like the problem is getting the washer back on, not securing it.

  7. How goes the bb58 honeymoon, Aho? I see you kept around a prospex after your GS purge eh? Been pining over the SPB149 as a viable alternative to the 58. Only concerns, well several of them, are shitty bracelet, 6r35 (it seems reliability is spotty and these are unregulated apparently, so all kinds of variation?) and the limited aspect which has made the price creep up even beyond msrp. The latter is why I’ve never gone for a 58 as well.

I might just end up selling the captain cook and getting an aquis 39.5. I think I’ve gotten over the integrated lugs and have come to appreciate Oris quality:price. I’ve also decided only one diver in the collection at any given time, so 1 in, 1 out like with my jeans from now on. Or so I say, lol.

@SuperJackle - what do the thighs measure (BiG style - at the crotch)? I can never really trust Self Edge measurements!

I’ll dig my pair out from the stash and try to get you a measurement. If I remember right it was around 12.5”. Like I said though, that measurement is deceiving in this cut. I have a pair of black type 3’s in my stash as well and I think they have the same thigh measurement but are much tighter throughout. I’ll see if I can get my wife to take some pics of the two comparing the fit.

What do you think of the fit?
Originally I thought they seemed too slim, but I'm reconsidering as I'd like some of the Edo Ai denim.

It’s weird, on paper I was kind of concerned that the measurements(specifically thigh and knee) were going to be borderline slim. I think the relaxed top block and high front and back rise kind of push everything a bit lower, making more room. Unless of course you wear your jeans up near your naval, rather than lower on the belt line. I wear all my jeans in the same spot, regardless of rise.

I also could have gone a size down I think. I bought 33 OW and could have went 32, but I really bought these to stash for later so it’s good to know I have some flexibility there.

Anyone else aside from b_F get the Edo Ai anniversary jeans?
Product pages on SE are up and the photos look really nice, that denim is sweet.Sugar_Cane_Anniversary_Edition_Edo_Ai_Li

I did as well. Really awesome pair.

  11. I thought I was in the right as well. Was honestly expecting paypal to de facto side with the buyer. At least the buyer didn’t try to take a sharpie to the shirt and then return it! I’ve lately been taking pictures of the whole process of boxing up the item, shipping out etc. just never know what kind of crap people will pull.

  12. So guys, I have a sort of... am I the asshole(?) kind of posts.

Sold a shirt online, provided measurements in listing. Buyer requests refund, stating that, and I quote: “Didn’t fit how a medium should fit“. For whatever reason, ebay said I was under no obligation to refund his money, and I could close the refund. If you all are more or less familiar with how ebay usually works, even if you don’t accept returns, they will bully your ass around until you refund the buyer, plain and simple. Decided that I will close the return, citing that proper measurements were provided in listing. Buyer gets mad at this point and escalated to a paypal claim.  So I provided pictures and documentation of the listing and showed that I had provided measurements, and my defense was that the responsibility of checking measurements falls on the buyer.

Fast forward a week, in a surprising move, paypal ruled in my favor and closed the case. I’ve seen in many threads where ebay/paypal almost always sides with the buyer because of eBay’s “money back guarantee”, even if the seller doesn’t accept returns. Anyway, you guys think that was an asshole move to not accept the return? I provided measurements, but he said it “didn’t fit like a medium should, and that I should have indicated so”
