Camper makes quite a few Gore-tex versions of their sneakers/causal shoe/chukka things...

Thanks for your efforts here @bartlebyyphonics. Thoroughly enjoyed the tcb 20s contest and now hoping Ed can help us bring this one to fruition.

40s WWII is appealing to me too.
For the sake of throwing out another idea: what about a Sugar Cane 50/50 contest? There's quite a few variations (both in weight and cut) available in addition to the standard Okis & Hawaiis that we could have a coherent theme without a fixed uniform contest pair. You could even conceivably include some Mister Freedom pairs.

Heading to Amsterdam soon and wondering if there are any denim/apparel/vintage shops worth checking out other than Tenue de Nîmes.

Great contest--glad to have been a part of it. Kudos to the winners, and cheers all!

Such a great looking new fabric. I don't expect to grab either the blouse or overalls, but I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out for others.

Which (post-contest) jeans is everyone moving on to next?
I've had this idea for a while of going back to some of those prized high-contrast fade denims and giving them the regular wash-n-wear vintage fade approach and see what transpires. With this in mind, my Momo 0901s are going to get some earnest attention finally. In the same spirit, I might throw some Eternal 884s into the rotation.

@Paul T Back in September, you asked what we'd all be doing with our jeans at the end of the contest. Well, I'm going to try to keep wearing mine until they look like yours. Those are tremendous and would be worthy winners. Cheers!

So, really the price is anywhere from $410 to $440 if you consider a modest 2.2% interest rate over the 2-5 years you don't have either your cash or your shirt.

I saw this madness mentioned on Instagram and had to share it here, Todd Shelton's seven rules for clothing.
These are all stupid, but #6 is probably the worst.
Particularly hilarious is the fact that many of the other articles and models appearing on the website contradict and fail to "model" these rules. How are you expected to follow rule #6, when 3-4 of the "supporting materials" articles are trite buzzfeed listicles of other "best of" brands (one of which is N&F)?

The prices are really high for people who really aren't the target customers. Simple as that. I periodically buy stuff in my price range from familiar brands (orslow, engineer garments, gitman) from a retailer that also sells maison margiela, junya watanabe, raf simons, etc. It's pretty clear that the retailer imagines and tries to meet the interests of a pretty heterogenous range of customers, rather than a homogenous one. If they keep selling stuff I'm into and care to afford, then I remain a happy customer who's nonetheless morbidly curious about who's buying the premium priced stuff.

I think I am wearing a size too large and the extra roominess is not properly stressing the denim.
I need to try a 34W next round.
@Pedro It doesn't really surprise me to see how different the speed and character of @FeloniousMonk's Oki fades are, which are really impressive and entirely unlike any of my pairs, Okis or otherwise. For one thing, I always fade slow, steady, and non-contrast-y in part because of my fit preferences, in part because 2 to 4-pair rotations are my norm. I also wear size 36 and to my eye the measurements of Okis, Hawaiis, and 47s really don't scale up all that precisely once you get into the bigger sizes. I could be wrong, but I think the bigger sizes just fit differently than, say, a 30 or 31 even without considering the dimensions of the individual wearing them. For what it's worth, indulging "extra roominess" and "not properly stressing the denim" has meant that I haven't had a blowout or even needed a crotch repair in 4+ years in any of my jeans.

I thought I had a front pic and full length to go with this shot from February, but I guess not. A tad over 3 years in rotation with 1 or 2 other pairs.

No, no, no, Volvo. Don't use a patch to hide the drain cleaner stain...hide the stain in plain sight with a DIY denim bleaching project!

They look good! Less codpiece, more stealth crotch reinforcement I suppose.
