  1. Heading to Amsterdam soon and wondering if there are any denim/apparel/vintage shops worth checking out other than Tenue de Nîmes.

Such a great looking new fabric. I don't expect to grab either the blouse or overalls, but I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out for others.

Anybody have the SE "Rave On" tee? I'm wondering how the graphics hold up to basic wash-n-dry laundering over time. Are the graphics more likely to fade and age but stay relatively intact, or do they slowly disintegrate? Thanks!

I've had this idea for a while of going back to some of those prized high-contrast fade denims and giving them the regular wash-n-wear vintage fade approach and see what transpires. With this in mind, my Momo 0901s are going to get some earnest attention finally. In the same spirit, I might throw some Eternal 884s into the rotation.

@Paul T Back in September, you asked what we'd all be doing with our jeans at the end of the contest. Well, I'm going to try to keep wearing mine until they look like yours. Those are tremendous and would be worthy winners. Cheers!

That patch is in such lovely condition despite the fact that your jeans are just fantastically beat up. Great stuff!

So, really the price is anywhere from $410 to $440 if you consider a modest 2.2% interest rate over the 2-5 years you don't have either your cash or your shirt.

Particularly hilarious is the fact that many of the other articles and models appearing on the website contradict and fail to "model" these rules. How are you expected to follow rule #6, when 3-4 of the "supporting materials" articles are trite buzzfeed listicles of other "best of" brands (one of which is N&F)?

The prices are really high for people who really aren't the target customers. Simple as that. I periodically buy stuff in my price range from familiar brands (orslow, engineer garments, gitman) from a retailer that also sells maison margiela, junya watanabe, raf simons, etc. It's pretty clear that the retailer imagines and tries to meet the interests of a pretty heterogenous range of customers, rather than a homogenous one. If they keep selling stuff I'm into and care to afford, then I remain a happy customer who's nonetheless morbidly curious about who's buying the premium priced stuff.

Folks, Sorry to have been so delinquent in my posting duties all summer. Looking forward to a couple more weeks of the contest. In the meantime, here's my alibi for May-August in rough chronological order (cue summer montage music):

@Pedro It doesn't really surprise me to see how different the speed and character of @FeloniousMonk's Oki fades are, which are really impressive and entirely unlike any of my pairs, Okis or otherwise. For one thing, I always fade slow, steady, and non-contrast-y in part because of my fit preferences, in part because 2 to 4-pair rotations are my norm. I also wear size 36 and to my eye the measurements of Okis, Hawaiis, and 47s really don't scale up all that precisely once you get into the bigger sizes. I could be wrong, but I think the bigger sizes just fit differently than, say, a 30 or 31 even without considering the dimensions of the individual wearing them. For what it's worth, indulging "extra roominess" and "not properly stressing the denim" has meant that I haven't had a blowout or even needed a crotch repair in 4+ years in any of my jeans.

@Pedro I thought I had a front pic and full length to go with this shot from February, but I guess not. A tad over 3 years in rotation with 1 or 2 other pairs.

No, no, no, Volvo. Don't use a patch to hide the drain cleaner stain...hide the stain in plain sight with a DIY denim bleaching project!

So, has anyone picked up a pair of the catboy jeans yet? I'm considering getting a pair of catboys to start on when the 20s contest finishes. However, I take a 36, and since they're leepros, I'm worried that they'll have that super wide spread between the back pockets. Here's a post from Inoue's instagram that's got me nervous about this: https://www.instagram.com/p/BsnqiJ7lu5p/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

@Cold Summer The first thing I thought of upon reading your post was...William Gibson. I think he occupies the two degrees of separation between the superdenim world and the supertechwear world. The techwear crowd could be running around in his sci-fi/cyberpunk world just as easily as in the Matrix. Meanwhile, some of us are running around in his line of Buzz Rickson's gear (which, as you probably know, emerged alongside a character in Pattern Recognition that wore a fictional black Buzz MA-1). In fact, you could probably make an pretty reasonable argument that the military repro stuff, especially deck jackets and flight jackets are techwear's forbearers, in a way. Also, I really enjoy seeing how insanely expensive all that acronym and veilance stuff is and feeling much much better about the relative cost of my humble denim and workwear collection.

@Geeman the white chambray (it's more of a natural un-dyed off-white) behaves just like the indigo one in my experience.
