Denim Blunders, Reflections and General Nonsense.
Double 0 Soul replied to cmboland's topic in superdenim
I’m surprised Levi’s are so placid in regards to the use of red tab.. It’s hazy but If I remember rightly.. part of the 2007 lawsuit was not only the placement or colour of tab but it regarded ‘any tab being attached between folded pieces of fabric’ (I can’t remember the exact wording) Levi’s seem much more aggressive in regards to protecting their arcs, flashers or two horse patch, than they do tab.. I mean, we still see tabs, rarely do we see arcs or a patch depicting ‘things’ pulling apart a a pair of jeans. -
Wow!.. @TripicalMidbooster what's the prospects for recovery, will it be full or partial? .. When i was a Niketalk member in a previous lifetime, i'd been gradually selling off my collection to a dude in Orange County, in the time i knew him, he'd left university, got a job, put a payment down on a house and started funding his younger brother through his education, any spare cash spent buying my old Nikes.. One day i got an email from his hospital bed saying he'd suffered a stroke and was recovering from his second surgery.. a stark reminder of how life can change in a heartbeat. ..anyway, welcome to the forum!

They don’t ‘own all arcs on back pockets’ the Levi’s arcs are a registered trademark and if your arcs look Levi-esque the lawyers will act for infringement / copyright protection. -

Levi’s should force FC to recall all the 30th ani pairs to be unpicked by means of poetic justice.. -

I know next to nothing about Wranglers but they look perfectly legit to me.. just look at the details, why would someone go to such lengths to fake a pair of $60 vintage Wranglers, it's not like there is a huge market for them. What makes you think they could be fake? -

No tales to tell i'm afraid.. he just used to chime in from time to time, he stopped posting here around 2011/12 and migrated over to DB for a short period. -

I know this comes from the man himself but i think he's having a senior moment I’ve grown quite attached to our Californian denim jeans leather patch through the years… Sometime in 2012, I thought of coming-up with an “original” MF® pair of basic 5-pocket jeans.. With the help of @SugarCaneDenim, we did it. Called them CALIFORNIANS, because of my commitment to always produce them in California, USA. That patch design dating back to 2012 is what you see on our Californians today, with all patches handmade from scratch at our Los Angeles HQ ..The jeans and patch both date from 2010 .. they're in the 2010 SC Catalogue, so possibly designed in 2009 rather than 2012 -
Wow! thanks @TripicalMidbooster .. steps out of the shadows to show us how it's done See! so called denim folks.. this^ is what we can accomplish when we're not being so lazy

During the early 90s V-Dub scene, lots of folks with very little £££s were trying to keep semi-road worthy VWs on the road.. getting your threadbare car seats reupholstered was just a pipe dream for most so one would either take some seats from a donor car and 'make' them fit or if you knew a fashion student, as many did, they would patchwork you a full denim interior (a'la 1974 Jeans Beetle) from old vintage shop Levi's.. using the back pockets (with red tabs) for stow compartments, where you could stash your weed .. i dread to think how many pairs of pre-1960s Levis met their untimely fate this way.. In other news.. I've just been watching Knightrider.. Michael has an evil twin called Garthe Knight with a mustache and an earring.. they are both the son of Wilton Knight, they were split up when they were younger and the evil Knightrider spent his life in a South African prison while the good Knightrider got whatever he wanted.. terrible parenting! They're just having a fight in the desert.. i'm totally confused Oh and that^^ Gremlin is bad-ass! -
Got up this morning and made the sleepy teenagers some breakfast.. a recipe of my own creation.. greek yogurt, toasted waffles and blossom honey.. they didn't get back from their hike till 12.30am ..went to Fox House ..picked a few boletes ..headed out to Mam Tor, ..blurry ..i'd seen some folks picking mushrooms here last week while on my bike ride.. they looked more like gentle hippies than Guardian reading micro-dosers.. which was a good sign ..yellow club fungus ..scarlet waxcap ..but these^ were not what i'd come for today ..bit of prep ..and some fan assisted air drying

Funnily enough.. I've just sent an old pair of O/W SC47s to soas for a hem..
-
Gambling or insider trading? ..

Here ‘ya go.. raw 47s H should mean ‘hard wash’ edit- some have no suffix at all, just SC419** The label is sewn into the jeans at manufacture, maybe with the intention of hardwash, onewash or raw but this doesn't transpire to the washing / finishing process.. so don't assume any SC suffix as gospel.
-
It's the nylon internal pocket label, these suffix letters mean nothing.. if they do have an A or an N it's just a coinkidink.. i've got raw SCs with an A.. i've also got raw SCs with a C and a H? You should be able to tell if they're rinsed by the look of the patch.

I don't want to buy them at all Tilmann.. for the sake of clarity, MJ asked a few months ago if i wanted to take part in the pizza jeans contest.. i said, 'no i've never even heard of them, if i was in the market for jeans i'd grab a pair of SC-43s' to which he said, yup they're more your thing.. roomier cut.. ok said he, will you be a judge? i said cool but i'll probably never look at the thread because i have zero interest in the jeans.. fast fwd a few months, i was perusing Yahoo, spotted the jeans i posted above while checking to see if the price of 43s had dropped and here we are

I broogled ‘Kiwami jeans’ last night and spotted a pair of Samurai at one of the UK stockists, maybe soas or r+h described as kiwami

The pair I was looking at yesterday was £250 gbp NWT in my size.. so not really ‘reasonable’ but a lot more reasonable than the £375 hyped up prices. SCMiUSA in regards to the ridiculous run off 😆
