  1. If you part the frayed denim fibres with your fingers then yes.. Copper rivets started life like this.. Here is a pair of vintage Levis i saved with the same button backs ..and another pair with an extreme example of the rust proofing which FWs were trying to emulate.. ..alas, they went a bit OTT and it looked more like enamel .. after the first wash, the hidden rivets turned pink.. i think it was a reaction with the washing detergent .. a few more months of grime build up ..starting to oxidise before i put them into storage ..and after a decade in storage
  2. I've just been reading an article in the Guardian titled "Cringe! .. How Did Millennials Become So Uncool" The source of derision with zoomers mocking millennials is there choice of tight or worse still mum jeans It's baggy all the way for the cool kids.. if they see folks in mum jeans "pfft! millennials" That'll teach em for mocking our 2009 styles and inability to txt with both thumbs
  3. There are some more photos here Edwin ..they've only been worn a couple of times since then^ so not much has changed other than summer lighting, a different camera and oxidation of the rivets
  4. @Mr Black did some repairs for me recently.. i was really happy with his service. I always patch / darn my own jeans by hand but i'm never 100% happy with the results so when these FW-47s blew out in the crotch around a decade ago.. i put them on ice until i found an alternative to my shitty patch n' darn... This is much better! This M11026 needed the box stitching replacing over the pleats.. sadly neither of us had the forethought to photograph the 'before' .. i suspect that whoever bought this back in the 90s, it didn't fit so they unpicked the box stitching, it still didn't work so they put it into storage for 30yrs.. but before they listed it on Marcari, they stitched back over the pleats.. I quite liked their wonky, asymmetrical box stitch but what i didn't like was their choice of thread, although it was a good colour match to the 2 shades of copper thread used to construct the jacket.. the thickness / guage was too thin.. Mr B posted me some samples of what he had in stock, the colour match was good but the thickness still wasn't quite right.. after some weeks of searching, he eventually managed to source the correct thickness and colour of thread Sample thread above, existing, below ..finished result Thanks Martin! ..and here are a couple of my recent repairs.. I've hand darned a small hole in this 75yr old Champion sweatshirt Its just above the hip so out of sight I've sewed the arse seem of these CSF .. and darned a few small blowouts here and there .. i'm getting better lads
  5. Did someone here buy this^ ..there hasn't been a single bid all week
  6. Old M-Series closed front jumper in a good size / price https://zenmarket.jp/auction.aspx?itemCode=x1183171068 Lovely UFO rivets
  7. https://zenmarket.jp/mercariproduct.aspx?itemCode=m59671364451
  8. this lovely sillouhette in 95 ..to this a repro of a 2000 era Campus .. apparently? ..what he fuck are they thinking?
  9. Nice^.. Sarah used to wear Superstars, I always preferred Campus A pair of hers poking out from flared Wranglers sometime in the 90s Campus look weird af nowadays.. a completely different shoe to the Campus of the 90s.. even the 2000s repros look like a weird fat skate shoe
  10. ..or the shed at the bottom of your garden
  11. Probably because.. If you're going to make a (lets say) 1937 Levi replica and put yourself in direct competition with SC, WH, FW's, CSF et al' first of all you need access to a pair of 1937 era Levi's.. that's £10k you've spent.. then you need period correct machinery, Singer, Union Special and so on.. a period accurate denim.. whereas in this^ case, you just buy a pair of SC41937s, scan/copy/print the flashers, cheap bolt of denim and copy the jeans for zero outlay.. undercut SC pricing with zero marketing costs and SC have done all the work on your behalf..
  12. I mean come on.. we've been waiting decades for someone to produce a perfect Levi's replica, yet folks come along and make a Sugarcane replica with no bother whatsoever..
  13. Can you do a bit of a forensic analysis of these compared to images of the legit versions online.. especially the hard to replicate points like nylon labels, rivets, buttons, thread colour, selvedge, buckle, belt loop placement and so on.. all the things they usually get wrong. Terrible flashers aside, it would be interesting to see how accurate these actually are and help others in a similar dilemma and/or those buying used in the future... please and thanks
  14. Yep.. these seem to be without exception, sold with ticket over flasher ^Tacked in 3x places, 1x horizontal, 2 at 45° The pair on Insta are different.. 3x horizontal nylon tacks, ticket under flasher If they fit.. I'd still wear them without hesitation.. they look like damn good fakes.
  15. You do see fake SC regularly on eBay.. but never anywhere near this^ good.. just generic jeans with Sugarcane branding .. some even say "Sugarcane Made in China" screenprinted on.
  16. They look fake af! To be fair.. the jeans don't look too bad, but the patch, flasher and guarantee ticket look terrible!!
  17. I used to get a teaspoon of sugar and caramalise it over the gas ring.. let it cool then lick it like a sweet metalic lolly
  18. I don't live too far from an area called the 'Rhubarb Triangle' ( @MJF9 is even closer still ) famed for supplying 90% of the worlds rhubarb.. when i was a kid, our parents would give you a stick of uncooked rhubarb and a cup of sugar to dip in and eat.. like a vegetable sherbet dip-dab .. it kept us quiet .. i much prefer a crumble.
  19. From a visual pov.. i think a blue denim jacket looks much better with blue jeans than it does with black jeans .. for the same reason that i think a heavily worn denim jacket looks much better with heavily worn jeans.. i'm not at all keen on the shiney new o/w jacket with a battered old pair of jeans look.. it's not like any of us don't have numerous pairs of jeans or jackets so if i was wearing black jeans (not that i own black jeans) i wouldn't choose a blue denim jacket, i would choose something else. From my perspective it's more to do with the thoughts it conjures up.. there was a time here in the UK during my formative years of the mid-80s when most of the double denim i/you saw worn was by folks larping the metal scene.. emulating bands like Metallica, Anthrax.. et al' . An era of tight fitting black denim with pale blue washed washed out Typ3's .. god, i fkin hated this era, i hated the music, i hated the back combed hair but most of all, i hated the fashion.. made worse because Def Leopard were fkin massive in the city.. then the late 80s happened and there was a seismic shift in culture (thank fuck) new fashions, new drugs, new music which created a chasm between the old and the new.. Seeing black jeans worn with a blue denim jacket will always trigger these memories for me. We all carry this bias because clothing speaks to us.. it gives us an insight to the person you are and black / blue denim to me says this^ but i also appreciate, without this unreasonable bias .. you're fine to swing blue / black.. it's just not for me.
  20. Damn!.. am i really this transparent?
  21. Aaaaaahhhhhh!!! My Eyes!!!!!!
  22. Don't listen to him @aho.. this is either a bot-post, a complete and utter mental breakdown or a hideous dream he's just awoken from. Just remember one very simple rule.. Never, ever, ever.. wear black jeans with a blue denim jacket.. ever!! Florals and stripes would be a lesser crime against fashion
  23. I've always been a sucker for harmonies but Brian Wilson in in front of a gospel choir is just fucking heavanly 😍
  24. I’m not ‘bike packing’ as such so I have no bike luggage, just this small 13l hike/bike daypack.. https://www.sim.works/products/chips-bag-13l?srsltid=AfmBOopyy3VLlLzF2XprK4U4iw-ztV_B6TUMqUlMNYm3FXSO_gfst_wH It’s only just big enough to hold a single season down bag, tarp and the pole ..which is all I need for a single nights camp without food.. my rides are usually 60% road, 30% trail and 10% climbing up rocks with the bike on my shoulder, thankfully the bike is light af.. but it would be impossible to shoulder the bike laden down with luggage. If I sized up to something large enough to carry the mat, it would be a 40- 50l alpine pack.. way too big for a single nights camp but I might try using the bungees on the Chips Bag to hold the mat if I go further afield.
