  1. @shake - home repairs are easier than you might think. the pockets will be the hardest ones but you could work up to those. i fix a lot of stuff myself and that's based on a sewing class that i took in 8th grade (over 20yrs ago). it's all pretty basic, just needs a bit of practice and confidence. it may be more effort than you want to put in, but i recommend getting your own machine 2nd hand and practicing on some shitty jeans to get the hang of it. this is exactly what i did and whilst i'm no expert any way shape or form, i have no qualms sticking a $400 pair of iron hearts under my needle.

  2. Looking at these denim jackets...

...Some other slim fit denim jacket (?)

    Thanks!

i have the Grizzly so will definitely give that the thumbs up. You could try Rogue Territory for slim fit jackets in a variety of materials, but if AW & Railcar are your yardstick then you don't have many other options as these are a longer more modern cut, whereas traditionally jackets are cut short.

  3. cheers - i haven't the slightest clue to be honest. the only place the stitching has broken is on the arcs, and right on the arse seam* there in that last shot.

  4. @maynard - have bought 4 pairs over the years and they've all been as promised. the denim between the various special rolls and regular line will behave differently once they hit the water but it's never been enough for me to go up a size in length.

  5. minimal on the shrink, half an inch in the waist & length perhaps. i always get an inch stretch in the waist with sanforized without trouble - so i always buy so it measures an inch less than where i want to be post stretch. so if i measure a 32, i buy something that measures a 31. that's my method at least and has never failed me. will be snug at first but sanforized always should be.
