  1. ^I think there was around 75-100ish people. I thought it was very good, but I had a friend who tagged along who isn't into denim/clothing and he wasn't really a fan since the movie didn't explain stuff particularly well. But for all of us that isn't really a problem since we know a lot of the basic information anyway, and already know what they're talking about. But I guess for people not in the know, it was kind of confusing (what my friend said).

I don't want to sound too negative haha, I really enjoyed it since I think it captured a lot of what we love in this niche hobby very well. Was very cool seeing/hearing how some of the guys developed their craft, and getting an idea of their vision. Also the Stevenson owners accent is fantastic. It wasn't perfect but I feel it is definitely a watch for all. And Young, if you see this, the soundtrack was great!

  2. ^While I don't have the 710's, for my 0500's I started the taper about 4 inches down from the thigh. So everything 4" from the crotch down was tapered. Then for my warehouses just from the knee down.

  3. In the long run does a patch really matter? I'm not a huge fan either but who cares, it's not that bad and you'll probably wear a belt that covers it, or like other patches the design will come off, or it's also a patch that's covered by your shirt and on your back...

^I mean yeah it kind of does matter... People like patches, its an important part of jeans. It might not make a lot of sense to some but people like different things about denim. That's the best part!I love hardware and pocket bags so when a pair/brand has less than stellar of both I am a bit disappointed. Same goes for some people and patches. While I personally don't mind too much (I don't like either Fullcount patch), I can easily see it being a big deal for a lot.

  4. I know a lot of people don't buy this but you can also wear a lot with wider hems. With a smaller shoe like Vans authentics or Alden's in the Aberdeen last you just cuff a little higher and then with Alden Barrie or true balance lasts or red wings you can lower the cuff.

Yeah I disagree haha. With Vans authentics, I honestly think you need tapered or  jeans with a small-ish leg opening. Or long legs. Us folk who wear bigger sizes and have short legs (I'm 5'10 with the legs of a 5'5 person and a sz 36) can't pull it off imo. Wide hems with vans looks terrible. But it's all relative. Skinnier dudes in straighter cuts look great!

  5. No Nazi insignia but pretty fun nevertheless - got my first pair of Sauce Zhan...726XX-HQ, so cheap too.

They look good! I bought the 726XX-S a few years back, and I really did like the fabric (huge fan of Xinjiang cotton). Sadly ended up selling them since the fit was just weird. Always like Sauce Zhan, specially for the tabs on the back pocket!

Currently thinking about buying one of their summer shirts and socks to try out.

  6. The front pockets are not notably large or small. Definitely deeper than the short-pocketed brands like Full Count or Momotaro pockets, and big enough to accommodate an iPhone 6 in my size 32 pair with full range of motion. The jeans do seem well-cut to allow easy access to the pockets, too.

Have not found any other western stores aside from Drake's and Alpha Shadows that sell them, only a few Japanese stores with websites of various levels of usability.

That's good to hear! I am getting kind of annoyed with my Warehouses since my Nexus 5x pretty much deosn't fit in the front pocket.

And yeah, I went to all the shops that stock Boncoura (according to their website) and they all don't have above a sz 34. Its seems only the two British stores do (but are currently sold out). But Alpha Shadows did say they are getting a re-stock soon so that's good!

We do inordered aome 36 already

Good to hear! It seems only stores outside Japan stock a 36... Makes me feel even fatter haha.

  7. Random-ish question but how's the size of the front pockets? Bigger than Warehouse? How about compared to Fullcount or Samurai? And do any stores (other than Drakes and Alphashadows since they're both sold out) sell a sz 36?

  8. You didn't get them tapered at rail car by chance did you? They tapered mine an extra .4 or narrower than I had wished, but it ended up alright. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to achieve the exact stated measurement especially when you only have so much room to work with and not altering the knee etc as well.

I did. And I understand, they do say within 0.25 of your stated measurement, so it was always a risk and they are in that frame (albeit barely) so not a huge deal just more of a personal dilemma haha.

I should say though, they did great work! Just a bit smaller than expected.

  9. looks good to me

    Thanks, appreciate it!

Being able to wear my Vans is one of my top considerations when purchasing new denim.

As far as looking "hilarious", I disagree, looks great. I say this while looking ay my huge thighs that Sensei referred to "tree trunks".

Thanks! Yeah, always got to be able to wear the Vans and I'm good! And sorry, meant they looked hilarious when I first got them back from being tapered so I threw them in the wash on hot to shrink them back down and don't look too bad now.

  10. Had my 1001's tapered. When I originally bought them, I thought the leg opening of 8.75 would be perfect since my samurais were 8.65. But when I started wearing them they felt huge. I then realized my Samurai's were actually like 8.3... So I wanted the leg opening smaller by about .5 inches, but sadly they ended up about .7 inches smaller. This .2 inches really bothers me haha.

I threw them in the wash on hot to try and shrink the thighs down some since they now looked hilarious with massive thighs and super small leg opening. It helped a bit but worried it'll look funky again when they stretch. Doesn't look too bad but probably going to have to wear vans and converse only with them. Oh well, at least the denim looks damn good!

here are some pics with vans and slightly bulkier adidas (sorry it's really sunny now).

  11. ^You even get that cool backpack. But man, those measurements suck. I am curious to see what the measurements of the third (straight) pair are but following the theme the rise would probably be way to low. Was definitely very interested too, damn.

  12. Drove down to LA for Anime Expo this past weekend. Went last year for the first time and had fun so figured I'd go again. Also ended up cosplaying as kind of a joke (was a super easy/normal one).

So here is our cosplay from DJ Agetarou

Went to a concert they had one night, kind of hilariously awkward but was fun.

And a terrible fit pic of me standing awkwardly

Didn't really take many pics but here's a couple more

Took these because a friend hates it.

  13. Those 900's are incredibly tempting... Although I'm almost positive I'd be too fat for them. Anyone have measurements of a sz 36 or 38? I am curious to see some real life measurements.

  14. ^ Looking at those measurements I kind of wish I went for those instead of the 1001's... I want a bit more taper than my 1001's offer. Oh well, plus the zipfly definitely keeps wary.

  15. Was going to the local arcade with a friend and while inside he says to me "dude, you have a hole in your ass". Shit... Looked down thinking it was the hole that was already there in my left pocket. Wrong... My right pocket completely blew apart haha, almost lost my wallet. Guess I need to learn how to sew...

EDIT: Didn't want to double post so here are some pics of the final job. I ended up sewing them back together. I bought some "jean thread" at the local fabric store which is a faded blue color. It blends in pretty well with the rest of the jeans so you can't really see it, which is probably a good thing since I did an awful job of trying to sew straight...

  16. ^I generally don't wear the crotch out on of my jeans (except for a few small holes), so curious to see how long these will last! Probably helps that the rise isn't too short, they're not super slim, and get washed every couple of months.

  17. Just gave my 0500's another wash. Roughly 10.5 months with 6 washes. I added my Warehouses into my rotation a few weeks ago so the Samurai's aren't worn all the time anymore (although still like 75% of the time). They're holing up quite well except for the back pockets are falling apart, and the crotch is finally starting to fray a bit.

  18. Small update, got my 1001's hemmed. I played it safe and got them hemmed a bit longer than my Samurai's but wasn't happy since I played it a little too safe. Threw them in the wash again on warm to hopefully get a little more shrinkage. Maybe got another 0.25 in length... But I'm getting used to it, and it's actually kind of nice have a little bit of length. Also a bit straighter than my Samurai's so got to get used to it!

  19. Well, the wh feels a bit heavier but not much. The wh denim is slubbier and has more depth, whereas resolute is pretty plain and even in light colour. But i feel like the wash brought out some marbling and nice light blue. I guess they need frequent washing. Fitwise the wh in 34 is slimmer in the top block, has Slightly higher rise and a fuller leg.

Thanks again! Definitely going to seriously consider the 710's when I decide to get another pair.

  20. I'm washing my pair at 60 degrees, curious to see how that changes the denim. It looked still shiny and silky, like - forgive me - APC. No signs of traintracks or much roping before the wash.

I quite like the color! How do they compare feel wise to your warehouses? Definitely considering a pair (although not right away)!

  21. I just measured and am a bit shocked (I'm at my highest weight ever and must have stretched them a fair bit): Waist 94cm, Thigh 33,5 cm

Appreciate it! It seems I can definitely squeeze into them (if another pair is similar), might have to give them a look. Thanks!
