  1. Not a particularly popular brand, but I came across on the 151 on Denimio and got super interested. I looked through this thread a bit, but was curious about them. The pre wash measurements listed on Denimio seem perfect (but Denimio's measurements are terrible), but many of the listings on Rakuten make them seem pretty damn slim.

Anyone have experience with them? I saw earlier in this thread to go true to size, and the waist does go back to raw. I'll probably just email Denimio and see if they can measure a pair for me but they always get pissy about it, so figured I'd try here first.

  2. Fullcounts are the only pair that I actually have to take my wallet out when I sit. Maybe it's the way I place my wallet but when I switched from my PBJ's to my Fullcounts I noticed the back pockets were huge and my ass would hurt after a few minutes of sitting. That's probably my one complaint with Fullcount, the back pockets are too big/weirdly placed.

  3. My understanding is that Denim use the manufacturers charts, they don't actually shrink test anything themselves.

Yeah Denimio just uses the manufacturer charts which I've heard aren't great. That is why I had them measure a specific pair for me, and their raw measurements seem really small (compared to pirates, and other SuFu users). I'd rather go through Yuichi, be he hardly has any sizes left.

@mp201, I don't really trust BiG thigh measurements anymore. Their other measurements are usually good but I've never had a thigh measurement from them that was accurate (In my experience). Also they list the S5000 having a bigger thigh than the the S0500 (in sz36), and the S710 having the same thigh. So, I was kind of weary of that.

  4. Pretty much what the size chart says for the 36. A bit small for the 38 since it's listed at 14"

What size chart are you looking at? The one on Denimio is the official Samurai one, which from what I've seen/heard, isn't very accurate.

But I was basing mine on measurements from Segovia's pair and Robert Langdon's pairs earlier in this thread which are both sz 36 with a roughly 34cm thigh after multiple hot washes, etc.

  5. Ordered a pair of S0500XX from Denimio and had them measure the thigh. They told me the thigh is 34cm for both the sz36 and 38. These are supposed to be unwashed, so doesn't that seem incredibly small? They said they measured from the "base of the crotch".

Anyone know if there are any problems with under sized S0500XX? Or is Denimio just measuring wrong or something?

  6. I've decided the 710xx's aren't going to work, so if anyone is interested in a sz36 S710XX 19oz cold soaked twice, and only worn for like an hour message me. Trying to get rid of quick so I can grab another pair for the DWC.

  7. Hoggreaser: Sure, I can do a full write-up later on where my 441s stand with measurements and pics. I've been meaning to that for a while anyway ever since I gave them another wash a couple weeks ago and the denim popped again.

d-rew: Good choice; in retrospect I would have bought the 421s, and I have them in my queue for my next 13-ish oz jeans. Although I haven't worn the 13.75 oz denim, the 13.5 oz denim of my 441s didn't really stretch all that much. This is one reason I sold the 33s (my proper waist size) and went up to the 34s. The thighs on the 33s were too tight for me, especially while sitting, and that never really changed. If you're looking for a wider cut, there is the 500sw, which is quite nice looking.

I checked out the 521's but seem a bit too wide for me. Plus I love the details of the 421's! I was thinking of maybe sizing up to the 38, but all size charts stop at 36 (except for the anniversary editions), and can't really find a 38 anywhere. For some charts a 36 would be okay, then others it'd be too small... Just going to have to think about it.

But thanks for the heads up! And looking forward to your 441 write up!

  8. I'm very interested in the 421, but like hoggreaser, waist measurements on some shops seem really small, but okay on others. Same with the thigh.

Can any comment on the 13.75oz denim? Does it stretch a decent amount? The sz36 seems perfect but the waist and thigh might be a bit too tight. But there are no measurements for the 38's and I have a feeling they'd be too big.

  9. If you want to insure you get all the shrink out, try a hot wash.

re: hemming vs reselling - if you're planning on cuffing them, perhaps consider a longer inseam length and cuff them with a little stacking. just a thought to share.

Sadly, if I hot soak, there is a 0% chance I'll fit into them... Also, the 29" inseam is with a single cuff and a little bit of stacking... Weirdly enough, I am 5'10" just have legs the length of a 5'2" person.

  10. Thanks for the opinion guys! I definitely agree they need a hem. I was just hesitant since I was going to get them hemmed to a 29" inseam that it would be really hard to sell. But I decided to say screw it and i'm going to take them in on Tuesday.

I think they look a little tight, and you don't know for sure that all the shrinkage is even out.... more pictures from the side and the back would probably help!

I'll try and grab a few pics from the side and rear. I know I've heard that Samurais shrink with multiple washes, but I did two cold washes with high agitation and a high spin cycle in the washer. They didn't really shrink at all after the initial shrink was out, so I figured as long as I keep them in cold water, I would be okay.

Edit: Here are some updated pics, for the ass photo, I did lean a but forward so it looks tighter than it is. Don't want to re-take since my friends were all giving me weird looks for taking photos of myself...

  11. Hey guys, My 710's arrived and was finally able to give them a soak. I did two cold soaks in the washer with a lot of agitation. I'm really on the fence similar to mpukas. The denim itself is fantastic, but I'm not sure about the fit. I'm a bigger guy, and have always wanted a pair of Samurai's but none of the fits seemed to work (5000 has too low of rise, and 510 is too big). Finally said fuck it and thought I could make the 710 work.

What do you guys think? Too tight in the thighs? They're not uncomfortable but I wouldn't consider them comfortable either (could just be the denim. I've been only wearing my Fullcounts for the past few months which are practically pajama pants).  There a little tight in the hip region but with a bit of stretch they'd be okay. Also, it could be the massive cuffs leading to a weird silloutte. I would hem them but want to wait since it'd probably be very difficult to sell a pair with a  29" inseam... Also sorry for crappy pics.

  12. I'd write Yuichi. The OG had a larger waist, but felt smaller in the thigh than the XX. So I wouldn't risk sizing down. Only valid fo size 34, so it's best to write somebody who can measure your pair.

Yeah, good idea. I'll just shoot Yuichi an email and see if he can measure a few pairs for me. Thanks!

  13. Hey, I am looking into a pair of the S710 19oz, but can't decided between the sz 36 and 38. The smallest waist I can comfortably go is 37.5 (maybe 37.3-4ish, but have a pair of Red Clouds that are 37.25 and get uncomfortable if I sit for longer periods), and would rather not exceed 38. According to BiG, the 38 is 39.75 which would be way too big (but maybe after a hot soak and not too much stretching should stay around 38), and the sz 36 is 37.5 which is borderline, but it seems the waist does stretch back to pre-soak.

Broak was nice enough to measure his sz36 710OG's for me right after a wash(so no stretching really),  (hope you don't mind me posting them, if not let me know!)

    Waist: 18 in.

    Front rise: 11.75 in.

    Back rise: 15.75 in.

    Thigh: 13 in.

    Knee: 9 in.

    Hem: 8.5

    Inseam: Hemmed to 32 in.

The knee is a bit small but other than that it looks perfect. But these are the OG's and after reading this thread a bit, it seems they run a bit bigger in the waist. What do you guys think? Test my luck with the 36's? I was thinking of emailing Yuichi, and seeing if he could measure a couple of 36/38s for me and then going with either the largest raw 36 or smallest raw 38. I was also probably going to cold soak as well.

  14. Thanks for the responses regarding the rise. I was interested in the 423 (not tapered)  I need a rise greater then 11 in the front and larger then that in the back at a 35" waist.   The only chart I see is from ab fits which seems to top out out 34 : which at 34 gives a 10.5 front and 13 rear. Anyone know  approximate post soak rise measurements for a 36" waist or larger?

I would like to get the waist to a 35.. thanks

My sz 36 R423's have a front rise of 11.5", and a rear rise of 15", and a waist around 37ish. I found an old size chart of the R423 (on the third page) and a size 34 (which should stretch to 35 waist) has a front rise of 30cm (~11.8") so with the amount of shrinkage I got, the front rise should end up just about 11" (with a couple hot soak/washes), so less if you cold soak. The rear rise should be between 14-15 I'd imagine as well.

  15. just measured 15" on my 400. Seems like a pretty decent rise in my books

That's actually not too bad, I was under the impression it was around 14.5ish. My R423's back rise is also 15" but has a bigger rise before shrink, so maybe the 17oz fabric shrinks less than the older 13.7? Good to know though.

  16. Thanks for the reply.  Just checked the chart. Rise is going to be too low for me.  bummer I love the look of their denim. Note to RC- longer rise versions for the next run....

Check out the other models, the R423 has a higher rise.

Dang really? You must need an extremely high rise.

It kind of depends on the size, but I'd say the R400 has a low rear rise for a sz 36.

  17. Thanks guys!

What do you mean by hip flare? I think they look good

Just excess fabric in the thigh that kind of flares/poofs out making them appear bigger. Also caused by my wallet and phone sometimes.

Tapered cuts make it seem worse when the knee is small but thighs are big causing excess fabric to bunch up. Most people usually don't mind but it's sadly always bothered me.

  18. Updated fit pic of my 1101 after they've been hemmed and settled a bit (although I got them hemmed a little too long). A couple weeks of wear. Pretty bad hip flare depending on the angle (can't really see from this angle) but that just something that happens with me and tapered cuts. Easiest pair I've had to break in, in a long time. Super comfortable from the get go. Enjoying them so far.

  19. Ah... Yes, it is exactly what u mentioned.

From what we understand, he is experimenting new cuts now. We do not have any news yet....

Though there are some changes on the new R400 - weaving of fabric, frontal pocket opening wider, leather patch wordings is more prominent, no red tab, new flasher.

The cut of R400 remain the same.

We have ourselves, last 2 pieces of the 60/40 parka in orange and blue. (not on webstore)

Send us an email, I will reply with measurements.

    [email protected]

I actually already have the 60/40 parka but I appreciate the info! I'm glad to here the pockets are a little bigger. Also, super excited to se what kind of fits he makes. Hopefully something that isn't so slim as his current offerings... Or some bigger waist sizes(since using your guys size chart, the current sz36 R400 has a 36 waist unwhashed!?)

  20. Tuckshop, any tweaks to the fit of the R400? I need to get myself another pair of Red Clouds soon.

Also, anyone see some of the jackets they've added on the taobao site? I'm not really into military styled stuff and some of the jackets aren't my style, but the m-65 looks fantastic. I love the 60/40 parka but wish it was a little longer, so haven't jumped on this yet. But it's tempting.

Edit: Also didn't realize Tuckshop had the new R400s. They look great!

  21. Some updated pics of my R423xx 13.7oz. About 4-5 months of wear and 2 washes. I only wear them for work and they are usually shoved into galoshes and then waders over them (that's why there's front combs). Sadly, they're getting a bit too slim for me now. The pics darkened a bit when uploading so they're a little lighter in person, but this is close
