great leg twist, it´s always good luck to get leg twist, i have three 555 lvc´s
and none of those got it...
Seems like the early LVC and Capital E redlines ('96ish) do not twist. I love that denim, though!

im pretty much sold on these, or those new Warehouse. the only trouble is whether or not i can get denim pocket bags. i need a tough bag like nobody's business. thats my selling point right now. edmond, help me!
salaami- 50/50 pocket bags are pretty durable, too. All of my 70's 501s have never had pocket bag issues, whereas I've had to repair ALL of my repro pocket bags.

Not as ugly as others on this page, but pretty foul nonetheless.
"UK's Red Monkey Company, known for their embellished graphics, is celebrating United States' next president with limited edition 'Yes We Can' jeans, to be released in January 2009."

just put a pair of 1937's LVC 501's in 38x38 on the supermarket if anyone is interested....
PM sent- Supermarket freezes my laptop.

Those are the Capital E reissues. They pre date LVC, and aren't really a reissue of any particular era of 501s. I love my pair, but they're retired until I have a lot of time to do some premeptive repairs to them. The denim shrinks, but no leg twist.

No info yet, Selaviso, but I'm pretty sure the jeans are in NYC now. I kind of figured we'd get them a little after the new year, due to the attention to detail that was put inot the contest jeans, and the holidays. We're almost there!

Just got an email:
Hi Bijan,
The jeans are finished and have been shipped out from Japan, we expect to see them by the weekend or early next week.
Regards,
Gordon

I'd intended to call BiG today for an update, but totally spaced. Maybe tomorrow!

DP, any updates from Gordon? I guess 2 more weeks max!
Also glad to see that 4.0 is starting to work right, albeit SLOWLY!

Adum, I think Gordon is ordering a few extras. Maybe he can get you the right size out of these extras.

Just scored an actual 557 (non XX) jacket on eBay. Looks to be mid 60's. It has the large neck tag. Should have lemon stiching, and maybe shirt weight denim under the pocket flap.
Pics on arrival, as well as pics of the LVC 506 and 507 jackets I got last month.

Studite- those are '47s.

Bummer about the original thread getting deleted. It doesn't even show up in my reps, so it's truly vanished! REALLY looking forward to getting these. Anyone else gonna get theirs hemmed? I'm getting mine hemmed to 34, should turn out a 31, which would be great. It shouldn't affect the leg opening too much, maybe a 1/4" at the most.
Once again, it's nice to have a contest jean for those of us who aren't built like a 12 year old girl.
DP, any updates from Gordon? More porn!!!

I would imagine the 78s are very similar, fit-wise, to the 66s. The denim might not be as dark blue as the 66s if they're made right.

Much better overall pics. About 13 months actual wear:

Anyone else noticed if the 555 201s are pretty undersized? Got a pair tagged 38, look close to 34. Sucks- jeans are killer but SUPER tight!
What ze focque?

I have a pair of pre LVC redlines- the '96 ones. They have a pretty high rise, which I love. I'm hoping the '37 501s have a similar rise. Ordering some tomorrow or Monday I think.

23 months in. I didn't wear these much in the last 12 months. I had a pair of 70's 501s that were near new when I started wearing them- they're pretty much retired already...
So I've been wearing the Warehouses pretty regularly for the last few weeks. Not many repairs, except for the pocket bags. I love repro jeans, but I HATE cotton pocket bags. I've had to do this same repair to other jeans with cotton pocket bags, it's pretty tedious, but worth it.

I've wanted some cinchback jeans for a while now. I think a pair of '37 501s are in the very near future for me, even though I'm in the 2009 FC contest. It'd be nice if Levi's would carry more LVC models in the US. Cultizm, here I come!
Oh yeah, do the current LVC '37 501s develop leg twist?

Thanks doubletap. I'm kind of addicted to 50's and 60's lighting. I have lots, and Id have more if I had more room.

Living room about 18 months ago. Will update soon.

To echo some of what has already been written, I would buy the crap out of Levi’s products if the Valencia St factory was still cranking out LVC products. Levi’s is now simply a trademark as far as US made products go- they do not own a US facility; they contract those pieces out. I own and wear a few pairs of 70’s 501s. They’re imperfect in some ways, but they’re better than today’s 501s. Better denim, better cut (IMO). If Levi’s still made jeans like these as a part of their regular line, I’d be all over them. Having said that, my next pair of jeans is going to be some ’37 501s.
Country of origin is not really an issue with denim. I own a pair of Warehouse 1001xx and a pair of PBJ. I really like what the Japanese are doing with the repros, there is a lot of passion evident. I think that a lot of the smaller Japanese shops make their jeans because they love them. Sure, it’s their business, but it seems like they love jeans/denim. That’s impressive to me, and it’s why I’m eagerly awaiting an email from OOE with an ETA and more information on their 501 repros. They appear to be pretty authentic and very well made.
Authenticity means more to me now than it did a couple of years ago. For instance, today I wouldn’t buy the PBJ jeans I own. They’re very vintage inspired, but I prefer a higher rise. They get worn, but not as often as my 1001xx or vintage Levi’s. Good thread!

"Hi Bijan,
We’re expecting to receive the balance of the longer inseam model by the end of the next week so hopefully we’ll see them and can start shipping out by the start of the following week.
Regards,
Gordon"
Woo-hoo!
