  1. Dick- the patch on the 1001xx's is deerskin, I think the 1000xx's have a cowhide patch. But yeah, I think they wash the crap out of them, as that is pretty good shrinkage for one wash. I'd be surprised if they shrink much more. Your 1000xx's look great- looks like you've been using them for work pants.

  2. Hell no they won't be my last! Warehouse also makes a nice '66 style repro, but no one here in the States has them yet. I've worn these everyday- I figure I have a good 6 months.

DD- any pics of your 1000xxs?

  3. Just got these last Tuesday from BiG- Warehouse 1001xx one wash. Great service from BiG, killer jeans. This is my first pair of Japanese denim, and certainly not my last. The deerskin patch couldn't even take one wash- it's pretty jerkified already. They are sewn to last. The thread used to attach the waist is like rope. It is used in other places, too. The denim is very nice, pretty hairy, with orange selvedge. I couldn't find much about Warehouse here, other than the Duck Diggers. Anyone know if the 1000xx is a different cut than the 1001xx? I know the cotton used is different. These fit great. I wish the leg opening was a bit smaller, but it's not a big deal. They are a size 38, which has come down to about a 35x33, but they have stretched to about a 36 in the waist, which is perfect- no belt required. Anybody have a pair that show some wear?

  4. Yeah, what airfrog said. I got a pair of the current LVC 47's, and they are nothing like an actual 40's jean cutwise. I guess I'll put 'em up on the supermarket. The 55's are pretty cool, I don't think they come raw in the US, but cultizm.com has raw 55's.

  5. Tweedles, expert- nah, not at all. I just really like the vintage styled stuff versus newer cuts (low rise, etc...) I got a pair of Thai fakes recently, so I know what to look for. I haven't seen any fakes with hiden rivets yet. Has anyone?

  6. Generic. I have a pair like that- $11.51 on eBay a month ago- nobody seems to care about little e redlines. I think the single digit buttons are earlier seventies. Check the stiching on the top rows of stiching on the insides of the back pockets. I like my pair a lot- they fit perfect, an after 30+ years, they are still tougher than the POS jeans that Levi's passes off as 501s these days...

  7. Does the inner tag have the silver thread? Mine have selvedge in the coin pocket, too. The fit isn't quite right, either- the legs seem too straight. Is the waist tag on yours leather? Mine is, and it is a weird brown color. Mine do not have hidden rivets, just bartacks. I'll try to take some pics.

  8. Mopar, I just got a pair of bogus 501's on eBay. They, too, have 501 stamped on the top button. They also have a lower rise than they should. Scope the rivets on yours, the ones on mine aren't quite right.

  9. I'd soak, but really don't want much shrinking. I wear a 36, so these fit pretty right as-is. If Levi's would make a 38, I'd soak the crap out of them, but 38s are not available, even though Levi's has that size on their website. Go figure...

Maybe a short cold soak, and wear until dry?
