familyman, those would be the good Docs.
Anyone have any experience with Baxter boots? They're Australian made, and look like a pretty screamin deal @ $169.

i5tioneyes- NICE AUDIO GEAR! I've only got one McIntosh unit, and it's an old solid state integrated amp, an MA-6100. My only tube piece is maybe 10 years old. I've also got 4 or 5 pairs of OLD KLH speakers- the good stuff. I need to hook my tube unit up tonight... You a drummer, too?

Jesus- how many poor people fall for this shit????
"Original vintage 501XX big E redline selvage jeans in perfect condition"
Original, vintage?! MY ASS!!
Looks like the fakes are now sporting hidden rivets, or maybe that's artificial wear done to look there are rivets. Auctions like this make me want to send the seller messages.

Are they raw or one-wash?

blm14- Are the purples the same cut as the blues? Are the blues a '66 type cut? Pics!

lowrider- I used to wear Doc Martens, since the mid 80's. The made in China DM's blow chunks- different lasts, cheaper leather. They used to be decent shoes for the money; not anymore. I'm gonna be on the lookout for some really nice shoes in the future...

thinking about something based on a '66 cut, but with hidden rivets, ala Eternal 811. I'll probably get a pair of 55 501's, though.

Got my tagged size 36's in today- too small. I sold them to a friend 15 minutes after getting them, so I don't have to return them to BIG. I'm waiting to hear back if a tagged size 38 is available. I'm kinda bummed; I really wanted these to fit...
They felt a lot less likely to stratch than the Warehouse 1001XX I have, and the legs were a bit slimmer. I think if I can get a 38, they'll be perfect.

Been wearing these every day, except maybe 4 or 5 days total, with one cold wash after 5 weeks. Whiskers have started, as well as some thigh and wallet wear, and the inside of my right knee has some wear from where my leg rubs against my snare drum when I'm playing. I'll post pics after the next cold wash in a couple of weeks.

My 811s will be here Tuesday. Since they should fit quite a bit different than the 1001xxs I have, it should be pretty easy to keep wearing the 1001XXs. I was thinking about getting some LVC raw 55's, glad Blue in Green got the Eternals in.

TIP- I'll still wear the 1001xx regularly. I get my tax refund next week, so I can afford to get a pair right now- so I gotta pull the trigger.
It would seem that 811's might be tagged to post soak size- or sort of. The one wash 36 measure 35. My 1001xx's measured 34.5, and easily stretched to a 36, so I think the 811's will do the same from what I've read in this thread.

Got some measurments from Gordon at BiG. These measure really close to some 70's 501s I have, which I like A LOT as far as the fit goes. I have 2 pairs of those, but don't like to wear them much, for obvious reasons. I think I will order some 811s Friday. It's gonna be tough, though. I don't want to stop wearing ye olde 1001xxs, as they're starting to get some character...

It's repro for sure. It has the silver threaded tag. 90's maybe?

Without sounding like a complete smart-ass, you should learn to sew with a needle and thread. That way you can fix these kind of things yourself. If the sttching in your buttonholes is missing, and it sounds like it is, it should be repaired soon.

Made in USA Levis aren't even made by Levis anyway, so why should it matter? It would be nice if they still had their own factories here. I plan on buying a pair of raw 55 501s and 506 jacket from Dejan this summer.

Looks lighter weight, too. The diagonal lines are there, just not as visible as they would be in heavier a heavier weight denim.

These look like they will shrink to tag size, so if you wear a 30, buy a 30. A long soak and trip in the dryer will get a lot of the shrinkage out of the way, and you won't lose much indigo. Look in the encyclopaedia for more info on this.

Petng- Warehouse seem to be like Levi's- they will shrink from the tag size. I wear a 36, and bought a 38 in a one wash. Check the Blue in Green site, they have measurements.
blm14- you may want to look into a 66 style cut if you want a closer fit.

Yep- my 1001xxs have never made me ask "Do these make my ass look fat?" The LVC '47's are a joke as far as cut is concerned- it's pretty slim compared to the real deal. The Warehouse 1000xx/1001xx are like a '47 cut.

Wouldn't it be great if Levi's was actually producing the jeans they are suing these companies over? Or producing jeans at all. And yeah, they are protecting what's theirs, that's a simple fact.
Levi's reminds me of Gibson in a way, who is much worse- they will sue anyone. The same thing happened in the 70's when the Japanese (Tokai, for one) made better Les Pauls and Stratocasters than Gibson and Fender did. That (eventually) got Fender and Gibson off of their fat asses to make guitars that were better than the turds they had been. It would be nice if LVC stepped up quality-wise as a reaction to the better made Japanese denim, but it probably ain't gonna happen. I like when the Japanese brands use tags that are not red and have plain pockets. I don't buy jeans for the patch, but I do like some of the now illegal designs.
On a side note, you can still get Tokai Love Rock (Les Paul copy) in Japan, Gibson moustache headstock shape and all.

What's up with the coin pocket on the '83 models? Also seems like the '71 tag should not have a big E. I bet the '71s have a cool fit, though.

I'm pretty partial to my Valencia era Type II jacket, but I would like to get ahold of a big E lined Type III jacket.

Airfrog- how do the 55's fit compared to a real (non LVC) cut? I'm assuming it's not quite as loose. Have you soaked yours? If so, what is the leg opening? Thanks!

Greg- the Doc soles are PVC or something similar. I hear ya on the heel- they seem to collapse easier than other brands.
familyman- glad I can help out. Those are decent looking Docs, snatch em up!
