I quite like the fit.

Walk a lot, eat little, and only high-quality food. Seems like a win-win option. Here, in Ukraine in wartime conditions, many people cope with stress by eating more. Maybe they’re storing fat just in case. That applies to me too. One way or another, I keep seeing lots of people who are overweight.

How did you manage it? A special diet, or…?

I was fortunate enough to order a pair from Ono-san, and they remain among my favorite jeans. Prior to that, I had been messaging him on Instagram for quite a while without receiving a response. After I received my order, we kept corresponding on Instagram for some time, about books, jazz, color theory.

SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)

I had a pair of Boncoura 66s, and I had mixed feelings about them. On the one hand, they had a good cut and an interesting, deep color. But at the same time, something felt off. In the end, I found a simple resolution — I sold them, and managed to get a pretty good price. -

Since there isn’t a dedicated thread about downsizing the collection, I’ll share here. Over the past year, I sold a few items — among them my very first pair of Japanese jeans, from Samurai, as well as a pair from Iron Heart — both of which I’d long since outgrown. There have been no new denim purchases, as I’m moving toward optimizing the collection. While years ago I was interested in trying out a variety of brands, I’ve now settled on a focus around just a few — primarily Full Count, Ooe Yofukuten, and Freewheelers.

SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)

Parcels from Japan to Ukraine are usually shipped via EMS. However, the process is a bit more complicated than for other countries. Typically, all shipments are flown to Poland. From there, they are transported by truck to Kyiv, and this part of the delivery is handled by the Ukrainian postal company, Ukrposhta. Upon arrival in Kyiv, the parcels are sent to customs, which clears them for further delivery and applies a duty if the declared value exceeds the set threshold (150 euros). The duty is paid at the local post office upon receiving the parcel. Delivery via DHL, etc. also happens occasionally, although very rarely. The route is roughly the same, but the overall delivery time is significantly shorter. -
The news about this prize is the one I like most out of the whole contest🙂

Exactly. Blow it to bits with Tomahawks…

If you can’t even know the next moment, how can you ever speak of something as final as ‘never’? 🤣

Osho said: The so-called normal man is asleep, living mechanically. War is the ultimate expression of this sleepwalking. To awaken is to transcend both war and the madness we call peace... So I am pretty much busy transcending.

I always find it a bit puzzling when war is called politics — just an observation. To me, they seem like very different things. But anyway, I guess it’s hard to understand from the outside. And, I’m doing well, thank you.

Or, if he’s that keen on soothing his dear friend Vladimir, returning Alaska might be a lovely place to start.

There won’t be too many foreign guests in Odesa this summer, what with the war and all. Maybe ten or fifteen—drifters out of time and place, drawn by their fondness for Ukrainian girls and blissfully deaf to the loud, unsettling noises of missiles and drones.

That’s a fundamental question when it comes to everything in life. It’s good to understand where the line is between need and want — and to lean toward the first whenever possible. Oh dear, what am I saying… the denim police are probably on their way to kick me off the forum!😱

I can’t say I agree with FurnitureMaker’s post, for a few reasons I’d rather not get into. I’ll just say this — I pretty much always like the belts Duke puts out, ones I’ve seen in photos. Especially the simpler ones — clean, no fuss. I got one for myself, and it’s only gotten better with age. Picked up another as a gift for my nephew, and just the other day he told me he builds his outfits around it now. If money weren’t so tight — wartime’s not exactly great for the wallet — I’d happily order a few more.

Thanks for clearing that up. Now I can sleep easy—no regrets about missing yet another pair of pants from OA 😀

I couldn’t agree more — that’s exactly how I see it. Especially since I already have more than enough pairs; it feels like the right moment to draw the line. And seeing the messages below about the price — did I understand correctly, $500 or $520 for the Amoskeag pants? At that rate, I think I’ll pass anyway, no matter how nice they are.

^ Yes, of course they mentioned it on IG shortly before the event. I’m talking about what happened long before that. There was even a discussion in this thread about how people perceive the model with a single back pocket. At that time, no one imagined that this model wouldn’t be available to all OA enthusiasts. Edit: That’s the thing — the items sold on Barnstormer and similar sites were available to everyone, and I had no problem buying them there. My first negative experience was actually with S&S a couple of years ago. They announced a OA jeans sale would start at a specific time, so I waited for that moment — but when the time came, the shop page didn’t show the sale. It only went live a few minutes later, and by then everything in my size was already sold out (WTF?). Luckily, I was able to buy that same model on Barnstormer shortly after, without any stress or scheduled release. And yes, the price on Barnstormer was noticeably lower than at S&S for the exact same pants. I’m hoping it’ll be the same with Amoskeag pants. If it sounded like I’m complaining — oops, didn’t mean to start a whining contest!

^ The discussions have been going on for a some time, year or more, here in the thread as well, and it has never been mentioned that this would be something exclusive for a separate event. Some people here, not just me, were planning to buy it where we usually do – in Japanese online stores.
-
It’s a bit strange — something so long-awaited and hoped for by many ended up being available only to the S&S circle and in just one event. Kind of a shame. Does this mean Ryo and Hiro are turning into in-house tailors for S&S?

^ Cool pics, man — that last one’s especially dope.
