Agreed, so so good. l enjoy the coveting of items such as this, many thanks Mike.

[Edit] @Duke Mantee is that a tab? No surely not. Trickery of modern technics perhaps?

Yes it is mate … they called themselves Bootleggers for a reason, copies were pretty good, but they also wanted to declare it as a fake at the same time. Backwards humour that probably ended the venture

Thanks, tooth. Unfortunately I procrastinated while Brogue had my size in stock. I did the 'I really don't need another shirt' psychology on myself. I'll keep an eye on yahoo auctions Japan.

I've been to Brogue btw. Very nice shop. You get a shot of single malt scotch with your clothing purchase.

I’m assuming when you buy a few items you’d be doing so as individual purchases and make a day of it?

Interesting. I’d assume anything in the stores now would be recently produced stuff and should be 2nd generation. Maybe the new s506xx coming this fall won’t be much shorter than the 507xx.
I kinda liked the very short warehouse s2000xx I tried on.

The reference jackets are my first gen 506 and 507 from about a decade ago … so yeah, I doubt very much any of those are left in store anywhere. The Bootleggers 213 is even shorter.

My more recent 506 (1927, War etc) are all similar in length to the original issue 506 … there are slight variances but as most folk know, I’m not the one to be measuring garments to the last millimetre - if you need to do that you’ve already got the wrong item.

I recently tried on a warehouse ww2 type 1 jacket and it was noticeably shorter than their Type 2 jackets.

Is FW s506xx also shorter than 507xx? From measurements I see online, speedway for example, it actually looks longer than 507xx.

Depends on the 507XX - 1st gen Type 2 were similar in length to Type 1, but some time back FW thought it a good idea to lengthen the base models by about an inch (to be more wearable) and they became the 2nd gen

I haven’t looked at Speedways measurements but I’ve found them to be a little lazy in their size charts

I know it flies in the face of everything that Duke has (correctly) suggested above but I’ve used Vaseline lip balm on numerous jeans patches for years and seen no obvious detrimental effects on the leather, stitching or denim. I didn’t buy it for this purpose but used it because it was at hand.

If it works - it works, no argument there. I’m just advocating the use of more ‘natural’ ingredients as a preference

This might have been asked before but how do you guys condition the leather patches of your jeans and jackets? There are so many products available and I have no idea where to start. I prefer 100% natural products. And has anyone had experience with the conditioned leather patch on a jacket rubbing off on the clothing underneath?

If you feel the need to condition a patch just use any decent conditioning product you shouldn’t really get any residue - just use a tiny amount, most folk probably overdo it re. application quantities.

And I guess the next question would be ‘what’s a decent conditioning product?’ … Saphir, Renapur, Smiths, Sedgwick … and many more. Try to avoid any that use alcohols or petrols. And use solid form or thick liquid form conditioners … they’re easier to use less of. The thin runny stuff will encourage you to flood the leather

Duke’s belts - better than Iron Heart and made in Scotchland for Irn-Bru waists, no idea on price though!

Truthfully? A lot less expensive using exactly the same leather

Edit to add: as are my other leather goods despite being genuinely hand made

Need wallet brand suggestions. I’m looking for a simple card wallet, preferably shell cordovan. Brands can be big or small, not really particular about how well known a company is. I know of Ashland, Mitchell leather, TFH, etc. I’ve browsed Etsy as well but figured some of you might know of companies that make nice wallets

    Look no further

Cordovan, or pretty much any other type of leather

(You are quite right about CXL though)
