  1. Totally understand your point. To me function kind off comes first, then comes my ability to work with what I got. With the tools I got, placing rivets and studs precisely is kind off a pain, so sewing goes a long way for me and offer similiar strength imo.
It's just kind off why I got started in the whole leather-thingy, wanted a wallet that would last, look better than what I got and be very functional, still got that functional approach to a lot of things. For example the last belt I made was made with left over straps from a few belts I made for friends and family. Got a shorter piece of veg-tan, had some leftover cognac-colored leather as well, only thing I wanted for sure was the buckle-combo I got vintage. Sewed the buckle in veg-tan and the veg-tan to the cognac-strap, looks great in the end, imo.

  2. ^Patience is key to great work. Everything I rushed turned out not satisfactory for my standards, but luckily was only for me :D
Will probably do something with scraps once I get the time, still have some vintage red goat, orange chrome tanned stuff and some crazy horse left over, maybe even a strap or two in something more interesting. I shall get thinking and drawing in my free time :D

  3. Took a stroll around the old airfield 2 minutes away from my block. Its situated between the old canadian and US quarters in Karlsruhe and is now a nature conservation area for birds and insects. Lots of rabbits live here and get hunted with falcons to control the population. Goats are used to mow the grass. Else it's mostly bushes and weeds :D

  4. Hario skerton mill I got a few years ago. Only used for specialty whole bean coffees, grinding by hand is too much of a hastle to be part of the daily routine and don't have an electric mill right now.

Still, great thing, looks great and works great as everything I have by Hario. Got a one cup filter as well.

  5. ^This as well, mate. During the lockdowns I mostly wore stuff, that was already worn in and had holes here and there, but the pristine stuff stayed in the closet, therefore it's still fresh and all that. So there's not as much need for more and new stuff.

  6. Another thing to take into account would be size and saturation of the market. For example if most people using this board regularly are a size 33/34, of course those sizes will sell faster. Then again, if a new collection comes out the new stuff is more interesting than the old stuff and gets bought more frequently, therefore the clothing cabinet is filled with new stuff.

If you manage to find a way to get a pair let me know, I've been trying to get him to sell internationally for months now.

Just messaged him on IG, will let you know, once I know more ;)

  8. Figured since I own both of the more or less popular 501Z repros focusing on the same time period I could compare them a bit, at least fit-wise.
First up are the 1955 model by Sugar Cane, made in the USA and all the fixings. Size 33, inseam about 77-78cm. Got them second-hand and the inseam was at about 75cm. Opened up the lockstitch and restitched the hem with my roomies sewing machine, worked more or less good, as I could let out a bit of the folded over fabric to gain some length.

Second are the 1954Z, made by LVC, got them a few years ago when the news of Cone shutting down in the US spread, so made probably 2016. Still made in the USA aswell. Size 30, but the waist and rise are about the same as the Canes. Inseam here is 34", nothing shortened and the likes.

And as one can easily see the LVCs are almost skin tight compared to the Canes. Both work fine and are mighty comfy, even though they are very different interpretations of essentially the same model. Can't speak about historical accuracy, since I don't have that knowledge, but from what I gathered the Canes are more accurate, as the LVCs are too slim for a 50s model.
