  1. After scouring all the western retail shops online and all over rakuten, I finally found a pair of selvedge black 107’s at Arknets. Anyone ever use them? They have a pretty awesome selection of orslow and other brands as well. They already shipped my order too!

  2. I got a pair of the slim fatigues recently and can also confirm that they’re pretty great. Weight is very versatile, too. I was expecting them to be heavier actually.

  3. Does anyone have a pair of the black 107’s?

Recently got a pair of indigo 107’s and they are quite possibly my favorite fitting jeans.

  4. Is it weird that I’m hesitant to rock a shirt with a plethora of native motifs for fear of cultural appropriation? I really like this shirt but I fear I might catch some shit for wearing it in this day and age as a heteronormative white male.

@SmokeStackLightning I hate that shit too...if someone is actually just curious about something because theyre interested in potentially buying it im happy to discuss the price and explain it. If someone can just tell something is super nice and wants to know the price because they think it's a shitload, I hate that.

Spend $500 a month on a car payment and no one bats an eye, spend $500 on a wallet and everyone loses their minds...

What's the thing @SuperJackle? Pretty sure that means it's in stock. Usually it says delivery 1-3 days if you translate the whole page.

Its been sold out for awhile and thus I’m a bit skeptical.

  6. On another note, does anyone know what  2nd means by “previous preorders”? I think I’ve seen it discussed here before, but I’ve seen a lot of flat head items with that title and I just want to make sure they’re actually available and in stock or if it’s just a preorder.

I would get annoyed real quick with questions about my things  (or a banter like that). It's still really cool.

The only other person that knows about the brands I enjoy is my girlfriend. Hoping to keep it that way. I've noticed people tend to ask "how much?" if they see something they like/don't know clothing wise.

"You're wearing $545 in just jeans and a shirt? Are you crazy?! How much was that wallet?"...

I remember an interview with William Gibson where he said he avoids talking to people about price of the brands he likes like buzz and iron heart, because people get weird about price.

I've read the 5 pages on this thread but I didn't get what's special about Orslow. They have stubby fabric or their fits are unique?

You’ll get it one day; most of the slubbiness or details that you think makes a pair of jeans unique, is actually what is mainstream in the world of raw denim. There’s a reason most of the seasoned veterans don’t gravitate towards crazy colored denims or extreme heavy weight denim, or slubs like a Persian rug. These are the things that make the average person stop and say, “Well that’s a really different pair of jeans”. This stuff gets gimmicky after awhile and that’s when you start seeing and appreciating the subtleties.

Another big issue is washing regiments.

It's no secret that the loinal region isn't the cleanest on Earth, and sweats a lot. Regular washing is key, and in my recent experience, regular hot washing is better. Case in point (and I talked about this on DB): last year I picked up a used pair of Sugar Cane jeans off Yahoo Auctions JP for the little lady. The jeans in question are pretty darn faded, and have obviously been worn hard for years. And yet the crotch shows absolutely no signs of tearing or blowing out. Judging by the fried patch, and very white weft and pocket bags, the previous owner had clearly hot washed them often. The average Japanese denim head seems to wash his jeans about once a week, no differently than you would a pair of mall Levi's. Double 0 at Denimbro, for example, regularly hot washes his jeans, outside-out (contrary to what most people prescribe to) to get his jeans clean after doing manual labor and traipsing through mud, etc. in them.

tl;dr wash your jeans often to prevent crotch blow outs.

Been doing this with my full counts. No signs of crotch blowout thus far, and they’re def in the autumn of their useful life. Cotton stitching has held up rather well as a result too.

Current status on my 441SW; didn't keep track of washes, and not even sure how long I've had them now. Two years, maybe more. They've seen a lot less wear because I've mostly worn my Canes.

@Iron Horse how has the zipper held up on these for you? That’s my biggest reservation. Any more wear on this pair since last year?

  11. @mlwdp I have had that exact shirt in two different sizes. A couple years ago I purchased it in a size L( you may see my post about it a few pages back), and it was never perfect. Chest, length, and shoulders were great. But the shirt had very little taper, and wasn't long enough to tuck in without popping out. This factor, combined with the sleeves being too baggy (which seems to be my main issue with sc/br/Toyo) I sold my size L.

If I remember correctly, the shirt didn't shrink much and I machine dried it on low every time I washed

About a month ago I bought a size M. I'd lost a few pounds since the other shirt so I decided to give it another go. Chest is doable, but it has that same lack of taper in the torso and is too short and boxy. Gonna have to let this one go as well.

Regarding whether or not buzz sizing is kinda American; yes and no. The sleeves and body generally seem to be a fuller cut, but the length almost always disappoints, at least for me. I'm only 5'10"

Boxy shirts with high gussets have become the bane of my existence; after so much trial and error(and $)I'm on the brink of buying strictly jcrew from here on.

Guys I’m kinda in love with my regular, department store STF 501’s over my OOE’s and Sugar Canes.  I think I’m kinda of burnt out on denim in general.

I've been feeling fatigue for "workwear" in general as well, and I know I've mentioned here even recently. Not really feeling the "athletic" trend that dominates currently either (reigning champ sweats and adidas boost sneaks, etc).

The old guard has been preaching peak selvedge for awhile, and I think we're finally past the breaking point.

  13. Just got this 40mm. Thinking of buying a darker leather strap and using the suede tan for more casual vibes.

Edit: Added a couple more pics. This is one of the newer models with the Hamilton modded movement. 80 hour power reserve, but the trade off is a lower bph and apparently only Hamilton can service this movement because there is no more manual adjustment

  14. Okay, I'll say it; your question should have gone in either the small questions thread, or maybe the "this or that" thread which are both at the top of the main superdenim page. Starting a new thread is generally reserved for a specific denim brand, or various themes.

I think everyone was just trying to help initially, but it's becoming a junk thread. Probably should lock this one up mods. Surprised it made it this far.

  15. Well, I thought I might have been shook of the urge to buy a khaki field by aho's persuasive reverence for all things seiko, and the alpinist almost became a legit contender. I almost could have made the green dial work, and I kind of liked it, but ultimately I wanted something that would wear a bit larger.

I also decided the khaki field would be more versatile in an office environment or worn casually, so I have a 40mm inbound, used  of course ;).
