I've just had a quick flick through this thread for the first time this yr.. Stand outs for me are.. smoothsailors Cresent Down, Broarks Sasquatch, rbeck's varsity jacket, Prettyboytony's vintage puffer, Alienlovemachines ring coat (the fit on pg3) .. Indigoeagle entire outfit on pg3 (chefs kiss) and JW's great lakes jumper.. all very nice!

My summer shoe for this year.. Nike Elite 1978 repros.. from 2018 Original materials and detailing Suade is slightly faded and washed out.. Tongue and foam mid has slight yellowing to mimic vintage originals Waffle sole, exposed foam tongue.. Phwoar! Vintage 1977 Nike advert.. repros come with both blue and white laces.. 1978 Nike ad..

I treat my ride to work and back like a time trial.. so when i arrive, i'm usually perspiring.. i'm wearing a snug fitting cycle jersey which is 82% recycled polyester.. i can't wash it in the evening and get it dry for morning.. especially not at this time of year so it only gets washed on a Sunday.. even though it's man made fibre, it still smells fresh at the end of the week.

In hindsight Charlie.. i should have explained the 'trends' with a bit more clarity.. rather than some half-remembered, cobbled together post. I wasn't expecting such a great response, thanks for humouring me everyone

"Worn denim while raw" I remember folks buying raw denim, wearing them to set very crisp combs, washing them after 3 or 4 months and the combs would be half way up the back of the thighs.. "aw! bollocks" This^ was the trend i was alluding to.. did anyone do this and regret it? I'm not much of a washer at the best of times.. i've had jeans which i've never washed but i've always got the shrinkage out first, I've never worn them raw. I had a pair of SC47s which i didn't wash for nearly a decade but they did have a few agitated soaks in the bath tub.. i didn't want them to show machine marks.. marbling, fade lines and such.. The caveat here is, if my jeans were stinky, i would wash them for sure but i don't tend to produce body odor.. (like prince andrew) i don't even need to use a deodorant I just spray a bit of tree huger citrus essence.. i can wear socks for days, even my shoes which i wear all day at work have zero smell.. The fancy detergent trend for me was the Sugarcane sachets which are quite good but very expensive (i was given a box from Hirofumi at Vari) the other washing trend for me was Dr Bronners pure soap.. but my jeans always felt a bit greasy to the touch as though the soap hadn't been fully rinsed out in the machine, i would often run them through a second rinse before bagging it off and going back to Fairy Non Bio...

Yes.. this was the instructions i printed out from sufu back in 17/06/2008 on how to fill out the old Rakuten order form before they started to accept PP and it was still written in Japanese

Not sure.. there was a dedicated thread where you could buy it.. it was 2 guys who produced it, they showed short excerpts, it was the first time i'd seen the mysterious figure of ring x ring amongst others in the denim game being interviewed.. (like Banksy) i was surprised how deep his voice was..

@mlwdp .. worn denim while raw? what was going on there @julian-wolf .. the 'sleeping in jeans' thing was to stretch them out..ie- get a couple of buttons fastened, maybe on day 2 fasten button 3 and don't take them off till you can get the top button fastened If i remember rightly the coffee wash thing was around the time certain threads were obsessed with natural dying techniques, persimmon, mud, grass and such. @smoothsailor they were MiJ Hedi Slimane era What was that early denim documentary called? not the one Paul T was annoyed about.. it was pre-kickstarter.. you had to buy it on DVD, they interviewed ring x ring in silhouette, to protect his identity like a crime victim.. Did anyone here buy it? i almost did but UK shipping costs ruled it out.

If you'd been wandering around a desert of distressed bootcuts and found the oasis of sufu in 2010 there is no doubt that you were the coolest kid in the Georgia burbs .. don't be ashamed of that superiority complex! I was never down with the sufu fits back then but this place was still without a doubt the pinnacle of the denim world..
