What's your definition of minimal. Between Acronym, Nike ACG, and SISP, I'm sure hes doing pretty well for himself.

acr's design and production methodology have not measurably changed since the early days but their prices have more than doubled. the take home is going to be good.

not a judgment, just good business.

  2. Yeah 2014/15 ish. I'm guessing their replacement guidelines either come with a certain amount of employee discretion or that they're very regularly updated. I've had to send some damaged items back, while i was asked to destroy others. I've also had every variation of "get the same item again" or "pick whatever costs the same".

  3. This is the same type of tear the previous models developed, and i've also had a nylon one develop the same kind of tear. It has something to do with that ultra-flat seam they use, and maybe with the nylon thread having a higher tensile strength than the surrounding material.

edit: glad to see AV customer service is still cool about this sort of thing happening. Inspires confidence in picking up their newer products, knowing they have your back if something goes wrong.

    Fake.

Wow, first fake veilance I've ever seen. Not actually a fake, I suppose, since veilance never made a model that looks just like this. Looks like some other brands product with what looks like a veilance label.

I wonder what the label says and if it's meant to be an actual veilance fake or if it's some "company" (ie: some factory owner's enterprising nephew) stealing veilance design elements for his own line.

  5. there's always a tradeoff between weight and rigidity. salomon and lowa are really good at making very lightweight yet rigid boots that have all the benefits of 'traditional' boots without most of their drawbacks. half of modern mid top hikers are essentially beefed up trail runners anyway.

edit: i think the real question here is when is nike finally going to reintroduce that goddamn 8" zip model

  6. That's disappointing. Definitely take it up with customer service. Back when they had the cotton faced galvanic they eventually recalled and replaced the entire run because so many people (me included) complained about the fabric wearing way too fast.

How are they "fashion boots"?! Don't get me wrong, they're versatile enough to wear with techwear and other shit but they do perform as intended. Unless your perception of hiking is walking up a wet concrete hill, then yes.. field 6 is not going to perform well.  Visvim 7 hole are fashion boots. They're completely night and day.

this being the 'great outdoors' thread i assumed hiking meant 8hr hikes on unprepared trails under a self-sustaining load. for that, the sfb's don't offer the rigidity and support needed. for a 2 hr walk through a park they'll do fine (and they'll look much better than traditional hiking boots) but that seems a regular 'techwear' context to me.
