oh, i should've clarified. the merino jersey is only skin-facing, it's terratex on the outside, wool on the inside. something like that. that would be weird if it were just a jersey crotch through and through, like wearing merino underwear as pants lol

gotcha. that does sound good. did they bond the merino to the terratex or is it like a liner?

I am a little concerned about the busted crotch. I hope Veilance has taken care of such a prevalent and repetitive issue.

i'd have to see the material up close but if it's merino jersey as mentioned, simply sitting in an office chair will eat through it. merino is great stuff but its one big weakness is abrasion.

imho the thing with the voronois is the crotch gusset geometry. the angle at which the seam sits seems to concentrate shear forces (from walking, sitting with your legs apart, etc) on a very small section of seam, which eventually gives way. once something pops there, the seam integrity is compromised and the tear widens under the same shear forces. it either needs a ruggedized seam (just flat lock it or whatever) or a complete redesign of the gusset.

probably early/mid feb. i think apparats only come in like, khaki (true khaki iirc, not playa or utility) and black. the grey (ash) you mightve seen was the dyadic comp pant, which is like a merino/nylon blend + terratex + merino jersey inner construction

i'm pretty sure there was another grey pant in that weird zombie show they did. Maybe the skinny voronoi cousin.

I’m curious to see that upcoming nike collab, looks like crap tbh.  Looks like they just Frankensteined shuz together and called it a day.  Would love to see ACRNMs take on the footscape.

i still think the original lunar force collab is the best one. The thing with the downtowns and the prestos is they're too acr. It's why all those instagram fits look corny: they're uniform, too homogenically acronym. The original lunar forces offered a counterpoint, an aesthetic balance to all the olive and buckles.

i mean, i would love an erlsn take on the SFB boot, but i wouldn't wear it with any other acr stuff. it'd be gratuitous.

I know the tradition but Veilance seems to be designed differently... And there are no visible buttons so you could get away with it, no? In that model picture from Haven you can see the creases from only using one snap...

i wear my blazer lt with one or two snaps done depending on how i feel. i would never wear a traditional suit jacket or sports coat with the lower button done, but i feel like once you're wearing a seam taped stretch nylon blazer with cobrax snap buttons, the rules are out of the window anyway.

  6. the combination of QC issues and counterfeiting will be truly alarming if it's not quickly and sufficiently addressed.

the thing with veilance is precision is at the core of it's brand identity. that $1000+ price tag is not just the fabric and the cut. it's the assurance that the item is immaculate in every sense, perfect way beyond the point of diminishing returns. if you lose that, you lose a big part of what makes veilance different.

can anyone speak on whether this synthetic material will stretch out over time?

i have the indisce pants from previous year in the same textile. the material does not stretch out over time.

So LVMH has an army of (mostly intern) lawyers combing the web and taking down listing of fakes, getting fakes sellers banned, etc. It's time consuming and not terribly efficient, but it's the best that can be done in today's environment.

That's unexpected. I figured companies would have a more... principled stance on the matter. Thanks for the insight!

My thought exactly. More and more fakes are coming out since the beginning of 2017.

I wonder how the bird (or any company really) deals with this on a corporate level. Do they investigate to prove it came from the same factory? do they hit them with a cease and desist but stay with the factory or move to a new factory altogether? Maybe the cost of dealing with it is higher than the cost of whatever problem the existence of fakes introduces and they don't bother dealing with it at all? It makes me curious as hell.

I believe it is another fake Veilance listing on ebay. Beware everyone!

lol when you move production of your pants to china and the factory you contracted starts cranking out their own copies pretty much right away

  11. so my terrratex voronois (already a warranty replacement) developed a tear in the usual location: the crotch gusset seam. interestingly enough, this time the warranty department directed me to ship the pants to a service center for 'assesment and repair'. kinda interested to see if they'll attempt to repair it, and how.

I don't think anyone can argue the contribution that Mssrs Osti and Blechman have made to what we now call techwear.  Massimo was undoubtably a huge influence on Errolson.

the progression from mhi to acr is obvious. when you look at the early acr stuff there's late nineties uk rave culture all over it. like with music, you build on the previous cool thing to end up with the next cool thing. makes you wonder what the next step will look like.
