  1. re: dirty bird production locale, the main reason for a shift to fabrication in china is that canada has a shortage of skilled personnel, and some high-end techniques are becoming increasingly unavailable in north america. the move to china really isn't about cutting costs, but primarily about meeting production demands.

Does anyone know whether Scholler 3XDry incorporates a nanosphere treatment or a DWR one? thanks.

3xdry is a dwr treatment style of it's own, so no nanosphere. it seems like schoeller mainly licenses out nanosphere for other textiles, tweave llc is a prolific purveyor of nanosphere coated stretch wovens.

  2. Eermmm it's not that bad, the fit is a bit off on the neck when I pop the collar up to fill zip, but that's because my neck is thick. Maybe I can post fit pics since someone asked for it on here. I'm more impressed with the shirt. The survey was a bit longer than I preferred .

fit pics would be great. mainly interested in the drape and texture as most of the earlier blazer type jackets they did had a synthetic face fabric and a coarse, ugly drape.

  3. I recently got the survey jacket, and the operand shirt, and I have to say, the shirt's fit is spot on for my proportion. 200$ for both =P. I definitely would buy the future shirts that veilance puts out.

how do you like the survey? wanted to cop but couldn't find a lead colored size s anywhere

  4. i overdyed these grey chinos i didnt wear anymore black and they came out way too flat looking. so took a piece of sandpaper to them, roughed the edges up, and then soaked it in a bleach/water solution. they came out this crazy rust brown color, with highlights where the bleach caught on the sanded fibers. it almost looks like worn leather now. the contrast in the pictures is a bit too harsh, irl its all more subtle.

should i overdye them again with a dilluted black dye solution to darken them up (not black, just darker than this) or keep them like this?

i also chucked in a fucked up old tee just for shits and giggles but it didn't come out as interesting.

  5. i want to try & pull off a fit with tigerstripes sometime, some of you guys really nail it

edit to add: arm, is the taper in those tigerstripes the result of them being tucked in or do they taper naturally? assuming they're truspec.

  6. look, if fashion were purely about obtaining the item, then people take so much pride in wearing them. Certainly the exclusivity of an object validates a person's sense of worth and of accomplishment, but it does little to satisfy a lust for looking good.

what you're describing is called conspicuous consumption and relates to products whose primary goal is to make one seem attractive because one can afford them, not because they necessarily make one more aesthetically attractive. indeed, different dynamics are at work underneath the two, but they still find their origins in the same place: to enhance the perception others have of one.

on point: elongated tees for layering. wouldn't mind copping a few at significantly below damir doma/rick owens prices.

  7. So I bought my first pair of selvedge denim back in June (Naked & Famous Skinny Guys) and i'm loving them so far I'm just wondering if anyone has any recommendations with a fit similar to the skinny guys. My only requirement is I need at least 38 inseam I'm 6'5" with disproportionately long legs and I like to cuff a little.

Try nudies, they have inseams up to 38 and their grim tim and thin finn lines are similar to the skinnyguys in fit.
