They are lovely! I bought one from VP.. maybe 10yrs ago when they were first released.. it was a repro'd from the original which was on loan from John Chapman at Goodwear... i sold it to sugar mountain years ago in a jacket purge.

Think I bought mine about the same time for what seems like Pennie’s at the Mccoys store in Tokyo. Around half of the retail now. It was a really good shopping-in-person experience.

that’s back when mccoys were expensive, but pre-astronomical price boom we have now.
(gets worn about 5-8 times a year)

That’s kind of an understatement I think. They grow indigofera, make true natural indigo dye and dye with it. All in house. Some of the cotton for their products is also grown in house as I understand it, but perhaps I’m wrong.

Sure. You can expand on my statement. But it was a fairly accurate.

I've been considering getting another black pair, and those 601b's look like a perfect cut.  However, I've checked all of the sites I can find and nobody has them in stock (or maybe 1 size that isn't mine).  Do any of you know if that was a limited production or a standard production that is just due for a restock? Has anybody seen a store lately with pairs in the size 34 or 36 range in stock?

Also, is there a difference in the cut between the 601b and the 601rb? Or is the denim the only difference?

I was told by the Hoosier guys that the 601rb wouldn’t be back until the spring.
    I was also hunting for a 33 or 34.

Hi. I’m in the UK. I just received a (Sag Harbor) shirt that I ordered from Desolation Row. I was very pleased with the service (and love the shirt). I’m curious why people order through Hoosier / Seiichiro, who, from what I gather on here, buys from Desolation Row himself. Cheers

He might buy wholesale from Desolation Row. We’re not paying over Japanese retail price, so how else would they make profit?

I use Hoosier because they’re very easy to communicate with, very helpful with questions and sizing and will source items if you ask too.
Basically a very good store run by friendly people.

Looks like you had to size up a bit there. Do they come up very small?

They do. I’m typically a size 34 - with a 33” waist. These are a tad loose, I think I could have gotten away with a tag 34 in hindsight, but they’ve not seen a warm machine wash yet, and I was recommended to go up.

Think they’ll see a bit more shrink yet.

    Here’s a Reflection and Blunder for you…

I ordered a pair of Cane’s from Self Edge on 29th November 2022 ;)  and they’ve still not arrived.
I can thank the Royal Mail for this Blunder…the Reflection is that I still want the jeans, so hey-ho, I suppose they’ll arrive eventually

And they’re here - Delivered by Royal Mail on a Sunday - they’re catching up with the backlog which is impressive.
I like the fit and details, maybe should have had more hemmed off? Currently drying from a soak.

Shipment from Self Edge is at the top of my list of slowest ever, it took about three months 3 or 4 years ago. There's probably no point in mentioning that the actual measurements of the jeans (it was The Strike Gold, which I had to sell) were seriously smaller than measurements listed on the website. Kiya promised a discount on my next purchase, but over the following years I never bothered to order again from them.

I’m sorry to hear about that.
Just to clarify- this isn’t a situation that’s Self Edge can control at all. It’s related to strike action by union members of the Royal Mail here in the UK.

was recently recommended deepl.com recently for a French to English translation by a lawyer/notary; definitely had more nuance than google for those languages; not sure of Eng>Japanese in that program, but just in case in helps yr pants purchases...

The Deepl.com Japanese>English seems to be very good.
    Thanks for the recommendation
