great fit on th ejeans and nice shirt too.
some of the coolest jeans ever.
maybe they will make more?
edit: just noticed they released another run of these while i slept. fuck.
And over 13 years later a pair shows up on Ebay and I didn't even hesitate.
These jeans have lived in my head for over a decade and now they are finally mine.
I wish they were a little darker but this still feels like a miracle.

Channeling the Boss' classic LP cover today.
Denim Fisherman's Cap
90s Button Fly tee
Cheap vintage belt
Cotton and hemp selvedge 501s
Threadbare bandana
Chippewa
Some of the slubbiest denim I've seem on a pair of 501s. Nice deep color, great texture, denim feels lighter weight than my STF but they run a bit hotter than standard denim. Not quite raw but plenty of starch and indigo. Can't wait to see how they fade. Been waiting for most of my adult life to buy hemp goods grown on US soil and these do not disappoint.

Same old, some new.
Denim Fishermen's Cap
Vintage 1984 Roy Rogers LA Olympics tee*
Trusty vest
Vintage belt with brass monster buckle and vintage jewels
Mister Freedom Outlaw in black denim
New to me Vintage Chippewa boots. The leather patina was too good to pass up.
*I have been searching for an actual vintage example of this t-shirt for years. It has been poorly copied a few times because it's claim to fame was an appearance in a classic quirky 80s comedy.
Since finding this grail I have worn it a few times but despite my friends and acquaintances all being pop culture obsessed weirdos NO ONE has placed it yet!
Only a real one will get it.
SO...if anyone can name the film, I'll send you a prize. Probably something vintage!
@julian-wolf got it almost immediately through DM. Get at me with your address!
Close up showing the belt and buckle, the MF frogmouth pockets and the vintage jewels Duke inspired me to add (until I can pull the trigger on one of his belts!)
Vintage Chippewas
Close up of the vintage Roy Rogers tee. Send me your guesses!

My trusty orange tab 517s are getting a little threadbare in the nethers so I needed some new black denim to go with my boots. Found another pair of Mister Freedom on the cheap and I'm madly in love. This pair is the Outlaw, with the frogmouth pockets in a sulfer dyed black denim. Loving the fit. A

My phone is dying so I get these weird fragmented shots sometimes. Usually terrible but this one looks kinda cool.

This is the only denim I ever bought in 2 sizes. My 30s have only been worn a few times (i found they ran slightly large so I put my wear into the 29s). If that happens to be useful for you let me know.
What's the actual measurements on that 30? I remember then running big?

Just picked up these Mister Freedom Midnight Riders by Sugarcane.
10 oz. Denim, Indigo warp, black weft
These are a little long so the ankle pockets are mostly hideen by cuffs but I've been after these for so long I don't care.
I first saw these worn by (former?) SF Member Cotton Duck and in love but rarity and economics would prevent me from picking up a pair.
(Image below)
Until last week. Saw these for pretty cheap online in a size I could make work...so inpulled the trigger.
Still getting used to the wider leg openings but the construction and denim are fantastic.

Happy Independence / Freedumb Day Superfuture!
What better way to celebrate than some new old Mister Freedom?
Ever since I saw Cotton Duck sporting a pair on here many many years ago (image below) I have wanted a pair but rarity and economics kept that from happening.

Until these showed up in the mail yesterday.

Been going through my piles of vintage and among the Wranglers, 501s and 517s I found these no name four pocket genes.
Made in USA, 80% Cotton 20% Poly, bit of stretch, deep dark indigo, nice grain and color, double arcuates, no coin pocket YKK zip and a killer fade.
Fit is very slim with a soft bootcut, and a fairly deep rise. Pretty close to the cotton blend 517s of the era with lighter weight denim. Hemmed at exactly my inseam too.
Any guesses on the maker?
Probably a house brand from JCPenny or K-Mart me thinks.
Same old vest

Chilly day basking in the afterglow of The Cure's amazing three hour Chicago set in last night.
Cheap wool hat
Reliance Garments Guideboat Co. Indigo shawl sweatshirt
501 STF
Grinders western chelsea
Some photos reversed because my phone is dying.
The indigo terry is really starting to shine in the cuffs.
And a brief jewelry related hold up before the show last night. I haven't had to take my belt off in years...

@smoothsailor those full count look really nice. Are they actually wide or did you have to size up?
indigo invitational is a yearly fading competition, not an actual event, if I remember correctly.
@cultpop 0217 if it is indeed a one year competition I personally wouldn’t bother. I see no point in going out of my was to destroy a pair of jeans in just one year of wear. Also unlike brand competitions that happen here from time to time I think it’s more about the how much you destroy and abuse your jeans etc etc, so if it’s the prizes you are after (which is justified, they are pretty sweet) most people really need to go out of their way to even have a chance. It’s just what I think though, and my opinion really doesn’t mean anything. You do you (:
This is pretty close to my thinking. I don't actually want to destroy a pair of jeans in one year. I have denim that I've been wearing on and off for 20 plus years. I also love variety.
If I entered with a vintage pair it would just be to add some variety to the contest.

Pulled some deadstock USA 517s out of storage today: one with attached tags 32x29 and one tagless 31x30 . Thinking about saving the tagged pair for the Indigo Invitational next year but I'm currently trying to break in the other pair.
They are currently butt flatteningly tight but they should start to give in few days. The 0217 denim is pretty stiff at first. Lovely color and hand feel though.
Denim cap
Jack White tour shirt ( from The Empty Bottle, Chicago)
Deadstock USA Levi's 517
Tony Lama ropers
P.S. Has anyone bothered with the Indigo Invitational before? Wouldn't be very serious but might be fun.

Yes I'm wearing the same T shirt but the lighting was perfect yesterday.so I wanted to capture the denim on these jeans.
Trashed Disney tee
5EP x StyleForum jean (2007)
Vintage belt and buckle
Polo socks
Vans pro slip
A slim straight cut (with just a bit too low of a front rise) and lots of neat details (hidden rivets, tonal fly, hidden back pocket design, natural patch and stray red threads) but the real attraction is the fabric.
Hand dyed 13.5 oz Zimbabwean cotton with a mix of synthetic and natural indigo by Christine "Godmother of Denim" Rucci and rope dying master Sakamoto in Kojima, the color is just spectacular. Green, purple, or red cast indigo depending on the light with dark inky pools contrasting with turquoise highlights, and a slightly ecru weft. Might be my all time favorite denim. The photos do little justice.

Left Field Jeans
in superdenim
Posted
Seriously, a legendary piece of denim history.
I've been looking for a pair ever since.
Seen lots of speckled denim since but none quite nailed this.
I'm pretty stoked.
Also found the Left Field x Blueblack Greasers in the Collect Mills midnight denim in my size and those are gorgeous too.
