  1. so you can't get Sugarcanes in NY and yes maybe one boutique carrying them here would be nice for the one boutiques worth of people who would actually give a shit but honestly Sugarcanes in Edmonton...where the hell is that anyway??...Mexico??...seriosuly buy the pair you want on History Preservation and then really sit down and think I am way to wrapped up in thinking everyone wants what i want...they don't and frankly i'm happy with that. sometimes i think this board distorts what people actually think is selling like crazy...just because 50 people on here know what sugarcanes are and are willing to pay $300 for a pair of highrise 40's or 50's repros doesn't mean that slightly hip common man is...especially the ones from edmonton.

  2. the two with the biggest selection but far from the best prices are What Goes Around Comes Around and Andy Cheapees (Broadway). WGACA has a lot of big E Levis and 40s and 50s Lee and Wranglers...almost an overwhelming selection but they are going to run you double or three times more than they would be on Ebay.

    Hi

They cost me $403 delivered from Juno (list is 334,000 yen.) - they are $478 in the NY shop but at least you get the right size. Also I now have the cost of returning them ( say $20 ) although the very helpful New York shop thought that the online shop was refunding and had written off the need to return the jeans. However Juno said I need to return them so I will follow that process as I guess the New York shop may have misunderstood.

All in all I'm very surprised that 45 rpm sold these but I cannot fault the service and help I have had from New York - they have been superb ( especially given they are a seperate entity and it really is nothing to do with them). Henry Hsu is one of the most helpful enthusiastic people I have dealt with and I cannot recommend him highly enough ! He also went to the trouble of sending me a pretty detailed email on the various types of denim and finishes they have which was useful.

can you post his email about the different denims?
  4. i noticed that on your sorahikos the "r" on the back pocket is gold colored thread just like my jomons...on my sorahikos it is gray. is this a difference between the different seasons or do they just change up the thread color every so often?

  5. nice looking pictures...clean and clear which is rare when people post pictures on this site. one of these days i will post pictures of my sorahikos with 6 months of regular wear.

Just talked to the store on Lex and 59th. The model 47's I tried on were leftover fall o5-which people have said had problems, so I passed on them and will wait for Spring 06, which they say is due in April. No point buying a crap version of a repro.

they say something different each time i go into either one of the levis stores in nyc....first it was first week in feb and then mid feb and then march 3rd and now april....and each time i ask about the LVC clothes they point me over to the same Levis Premium shit....they really need to get their act together
  7. "As for that Heuer... all it cost me was four pairs of Lees, some mint tagged LVC 1933, some psychedelic box sets, a Leica lens, plus a camera case and meter..."

Paul...are you into psych stuff?? i've been digging pretty far into that genre for years now...let me know if you still listen to this stuff...maybe I can recommend something you haven't heard. psych records and lee reissues....not much better out there in the material world.

They're not going to sell as well, IMO. This is exactly what happened to Nudie. RRDS selling like theyre the last things on earth (hyped like motherfuckers on Superfuture), all of the sudden Nudie happens to get US distribution and they hike the price to $265.

IMO, Sugarcane 47s are not that great. While their quality is great, the denim doesnt have the same hand or color that most people want these days. They're worth the $160, but not $200+. Rickson's used to be a good deal, now they're just a deal, and with new stock they'll be a bad deal. I think the reason people even bought them so much in the first place was because they were $160 and available from a simple phone call and because they saw a cool PHOTOGRAPH (read: not the real thing, low-res computer screen and some photoshop can do a lot for your jeans) of some worn-ins that looked really good. The same went for APCs being bought online.

Oh well. Severely disappointed in History Preservation - IF this is on their laps. If they're using the same markup and it was Toyo's doing, well.. oh well. I still think American brands are better.

aren't the colors of the sugarcanes and buzz ricksons supposed to be matched to the originals? they aren't out to maake the hottest darkest blues...these are supposed to be reproductions of classic US wartime wear not pants for trend puppies. this thread is getting alittle rediculas. after everyone calms down they will realize that yes the price went up and yes that always sucks but look at the quality of the product you're getting when compared to other denim in this price range....these aren't much more than ernest sewn or PDC and they are a far superior product with details that often cost alot of money to produce reproduce....buttons, zippers, correct patch leathers, selvage (correct right hand and left hand twills and denim weights) denim, stitching, flasher cards, rivets etc......maybe they weren't making any money on the previous sales, maybe a supplier raised the price of their denim or something else...who knows but honestly these are great jeans for a good price...consider yourself lucky if you got them before the price hike when they were a steal.
  9. what it boils down to is they (History Pres.) know people will stil buy them. They're easy to deal with, they're in the states, you can return them if they don't fit....it sucks but they'll do ok and after the initial bitching by the cosumer they'll be on the phone placing orders. Did anyone notice the Ricksons jumped to $295 and that's for old stock...the new stock will be even higher....glad I bought mine last month.

Yeah, the price hike is pretty messed. I was thinking about buying a pair for ages from HP, but fuck that now. My wife and I are thinking of going to Japan next December, so I'll pick up a pair or two of japanese denim then.

Um, but does anyone have that sweatshirt? Looks pretty nice.

saying levis are underrated on this board is like saying sugar cane is underrated....i see a levis post at least once a day on here. i think the majority of you need to look up underrated in the dictionary. underrated and amazing quality and fits would be buzz ricksons. everyone goes crazy with the other toyo brand sugar cane but ask a question about ricksons and no one responds.....why is this brand so overlooked here?..they are easy to get and the attention to detail is just alittle better than that of the sugar canes.
  12. the blue is really nice and deep from what i remember...i don't know if a picture would do it any justice. as for the style of the jean it looks (from what i remember) very much like the 1942 Buzz Rickson Lees with the teardrop pockets that are spaced alittle farther apart. i tried a pair on when i was at the upper east side store awhile back and i almost got the them instead of the jomons.
