hello. sorry if this has been answered before, but i was taking a look at the lee repo sugarcan 1945 at the history preservation website. has anyone had experience with these before? how is the fit, leg opening length, etc? sorry for the bother and thanks!

i have the 1942 buzz rickson lee repros and they fit pretty slim....i did buy them a size smaller though but they stretched out nicely and now fit perfect...painful first week though.

and someone please correct me if i'm wrong but i think the denim used in the jomon is different from the sorahiko's - it looks much "streakier" vertically (almost in the same way the bc4000 is streaky horizontally) than the sorahiko's. it also feels a little thicker even if it's not heavier.

maybe partytaco can confirm since he has both

when i bought the jomons i was told that the denim was the same for the sorahikos and the jomon although the jomon denim clearly felt thicker and heavier and looked "streakier"...owning the sorahiko and wearing them when i bought and tried on the jomon i noticed a difference but i thought it might be because i had already put 4 months of pretty hard regular wear on them and most of the slubbiness was gone.....i'm sure somebody from 45rpm must be checking this board who can set this straight.

check out the umii suvin cotton jean.....i wish i had an extra $800 sitting around because those would be my next purchase. i tried them on at the uptown location a couple months back...very nice and a really beautiful shade of blue....i believe he said the blue of these jeans replicated old japanese firefighters uniforms. These have Lee styled back pockets and if i remember correctly were even spaced farther apart like the old pre 60's Lees.

  3. The best repros out there...the Edwin made 1952 Lee 101z jeans. Washed once and worn once but only inside my beautiful west village condo (no outside wear here) before being put in my closet where they sit now. I bought these from Aeroleatherclothing for close to $300 (with shipping) but unfortuantly they are alittle big so I'm looking to part with them for only $175 plus shipping and any Paypal costs if you should decide to use this service.

PM me with your email address if you are interested and I can send you pictures.

they're not nearly as slim as dh, not even as slim as sd-103's. partytaco's are a lot tighter (in his pics) than mine are - maybe he got a size smaller than usual. also on mine the back pockets don't look as spread out, but that's probably just the fit. color is amazing though, very deep.

i bought my Jomons pretty tight because I have the Sorahikos (which I also bought really tight) and I knew approx. how much these were going to stretch. As far as I can tell the back pockets on all the current 45rpm jeans I have seen are just slightly wider apart than your typical Levi's and as for the slimness of the Jomons I would say they are slim but not close to Dior slim.45rpms are best jeans I ever owned even better than any of the 50's and 60's Levis I had....
  5. i'm not sure how to post pictures here but if you want to send me some instructions i'd be happy to put them up....if not just PM me your email address and I can send them there.

  6. i have a pair of 1952 Lee 101z (Edwin made) for sale if you're interested. Size 30 waist, washed once and never worn outside of the house. They are alittle big in the waist on me so I put them aside and got a 28. I would have to say (and I think alot of people will agree...) that these are some of the best made repros out there and because they are licensed by Lee they feature all the correct Lee stitching and tags. send me a PM if you are interested and i can send you pictures.

  7. ebay. i'm not trying to be a smartass but seriously vintage anything here (nyc) is a highpriced joke. i see shit you can score at any thriftstore in the midwest (for example a wool button down pendleton shirt usually will run $40-75) at vintage stores for way expensive. in ny i buy stuff new and save the vintage hunt for when i go back home to michigan. if you're looking for nice vintage stuff in NY and want to spend some serious cash i recommend RRL or What Goes Around Comes Around.

  8. seriously what kind of responses do you expect when you ask how to keep something considered "workwear" looking new? if you don't want them to wear then don't wear them....it's pretty simple and as far as i can tell that is the only way to keep denim looking new. remember when you got your first new car and you wanted to keep that looking new but you realized two weeks after buying it when you got your first scratch that it was pointless and it's a car and it's made to be driven....it's similar to that.

  9. these run true to size on the tag and the size on the tag for both ricksons and canes is the size post shrinkage. so just measure your waist or wherever you wear your jeans and order that size. very simple. toyo knows what it's doing when it comes to denim so i would assume they know what they are doing as far as washing their denim....i trust them. i talked to the guy who handles the denim at historypreservation (charles) and he said they do a detergent free wash that should shrink them right to tag size. the denim from the one pair of ricksons i have seen in real life (levis knockoffs not sure what year) was pretty slubby...i got the 101b which will probably be similar. word of warning they only stock a size 30 waist and up and if you require anything smaller they need to be special ordered which pushes the wait time to 3 weeks or possible more if toyo doesn't have them in stock...he said they make a new batch just about every month.

  10. i would recommend the Buzz Ricksons from History Preservation. I would bet these would outlast and wear more authentically than just about any other Japanese 501 repro out there and the nice thing is they are available in the US from History Preservation. I just ordered the 42 101b and the post shrinkage inseam measures 35" and with the 501's the inseam before washing is at 39" with a post shrinkage at 36" so they are plenty long...i don't think you'll find anything any longer. if you are interested i would definently buy these with the onewash. Toyo (sugarcane and ricksons) puts these in a warm rinse with no detergent. This removes most of the shrinkage (around 3" in the inseam) and causes the legs to twist so if you wear them "raw" any crocking on the back of the knee isn't going to matchup with any of the wear you'll put these jeans through after the first wash.

  11. the cords were pretty slim fit and came in brown, blue and one other color...nice looking but to small for me. oh they were on sale for around $150...even though everything is halfoff nothing is cheap.
