  1. re: exileonmainst

Have you inquired with the good folks at BiG? Their SDA tees are currently on sale at 40% off... I would cop some, but sadly, t-shirts no longer make it into my daily rotation due to work dress code

  2. Light and raw would be good, I'm just tired of always wearing really dark denim all the time. Even grey would be fine. What companies make a lighter color raw jean?

Look into some of the greycast jeans from Nudie. Also the ED47 in "concrete" starts as a lighter raw and fades into a nice light blue (pretty quickly, too... it's a good short term project)

As far as Japanese brands go, look at PBJ xx008 and xx006... both made with their "lighter" raw denim, (depends on what lighting you're in. the pics on BiG's site are accurate representations of the jeans in daylight).

Grey are also a great option. If you don't really have a budget, may I reccommend Nom de Guerre's selection of grey jeans (both light and dark), Skull's grey 5010. APC and Nudie have cheaper alternatives and cheap monday probably has something around the 60 (or less on sale!) range. Uniqlo, too.

  3. just to echo beets and cheep, I would shoot Gordon an email and see what the official status is. Last I checked (two weekends ago) he was still waiting for word from Evisu Japan and only had some deadstock left over from the Paris store as "samples" for fit.

And let us know what he says! I sometimes feel guilty about pestering him about the Evisus... but I guess it doesn't count if it's from someone else :)

  4. Thank you sir. And as a follow up question, When I put these in the dryer, it's best to put them inside out, correct?
wash and dry inside out, ALWAYS.

Incidentally, I tried washing and drying outside out a few times with my SCs (just to see what would happen) It turns out that you get all of these creases (kinda "crack" shaped, if that makes sense) all throughout your denim.

It's an interesting look and it adds a little flavor to my SCs. I don't think I would do it with all of my denim, though

By washing inside out, the creases form on the inside of the fabric and additional wear through agitation of the washing cycle is prevented.

  5. Was wondering what people's experience has been with shrinkage on LHT vs. RHT. I know that with RHT denim, most of the shrinking is lengthwise rather than widthwise (or circumference-wise, as it were)

Does LHT do the opposite (that is, does it shrink more widthwise than length wise?) I was theorizing that part of the issue with shrinking was that it was a function of how the twill was oriented.

And yes, this is a very denim geek question.

  6. nice to look at and see what's what, not so great for actual shopping, as others have said.

I could see people with a lot of money and not as much taste going there and blowing some cash... but the fashion cognoscenti (always wanted to use that word) will be shopping elsewhere.

  7. I wonder if "The Boss" is the same as "Boss of the Road"? I've seen Boss of the Road pop up in the Japanese magazine here and there (along with Can't Bust 'Em and Headlight... those would be the three most common outside of the other big three, Levi's, Lee, Wrangler)

  8. ^@ Cotton:

Those 1890's are TOUGH! Fucking gorgeous my friend and they look they have a ways to go! Great great color...and I'm assuming from the wear patterns ( and from your usual WAYWT posts) that you wear these guys like loose trousers.

Do you use these exclusively for construction and labor? Or do you wear them out at all?
