  1. ^^ since we're all spilling the beans...

-15oz denim (same as S0505 and the SO710WX export model... apparently it's the last roll of that denim, so it may be the last we see of it)

    - selvedge buckleback

    - ufo rivets + crotch rivet

    - Blue and Green plaid pocketing

    - 5000VX cut

    -Set to drop October...

    let the hype begin...

  2. they look authentic (I don't knowanyone who would go to the trouble of counterfeiting RRLs...)

and I wouldn't know if they're from the "japanese line"... are you talking about whther they're made from Japanese Denim? If so, I would say probably yes, as most of their jeans are. Where it's constructed varies on the generation.

So in sum, if you can get these for a good price they're worth a buy. Also, be aware that these are washed, not raw (though they are quite dark)

  3. Thanks Cameland, that was really helpful. So basically my ideal jean is a 710 in the WX/Texas denim... like the original export model 710. ARRRGH! I guess cut is more important than fading to me, so I'll stick with the 710...

Correction: the 710WX was an export version of the SO505, which was NOT in the Texas denim, though it also weighed 15oz. There are only two jeans (to my knowledge) in the 15oz texas denim, the SO500X and the 510 that's in the Texas denim (there's one that's in the regular 15 oz... confusing, huh?).

Samurai Slubbiness spectrum: "regular" 15 oz < VX (17oz. used in S5000 and S3000) < 15 oz Texas Denim

And cut should be more important, imo... if you don't like the fit, then you won't wear the jeans... thus, no fading.

  4. Cross post from Evo... by popular demand, some lightly worn in DD's:

    Warehouse Duckdigger 1920 (Originally Raw)

-Owned for 7-8 months, worn for maybe 3-4 months

-Washed 3 times, first time at 2 months. Hot Wash and High Heat Dry Cycle every time

-Hot soak, Hot wash, and Hot Dry when they were first purchased

I bought these two sizes larger (I normally take a 30, these are a 32) partially because they were out of my size at BiG, partially because I tried sizing down one in the DD1930 1-wash and found it too tight, and partially because I wanted something comfier and looser than my size 30 SC1947 (which I found a little tight right after washes)

The result is that I usually wear these as more of a streetwear jean (though I do dress them up vintage style from time to time) The indigo is very slow to fade and has more of a grayish-greenish cast than my SC's (which are a very true blue). These guys were super crispy and stiff at first and have since developed a nice soft hand (with a bunch of slubs for that extra tactile pleasure) The fading on these will probably not be as pronounced as my other jeans since these fit pretty loosely and they don't have too many creases, but I'm quite ok with that.

A lot of the pleasure in these jeans for me is the nostalgic styling combined with the surprisingly modern cut (i.e. lower rise, and moderate hip flair) From what I understand, these are the most modern cut of all the DD's. I have received a lot of compliments from random people on these (though not as much as my slim fit RRLs... I guess my stickly body is better suited to slim jeans, but whatevs) I think it will take me another good year or so to really realize the full potential of these guys.

At which point I will probably buy another pair. :)

  6. Sugarcane 1947 (originally one-wash)

-Owned for a year, worn for maybe 6-7 months total (fairly gently)

-washed 5-6 times, first wash at 2.5-3 months. Hot wash and hang dry every time

-True color is closest in first pic

I'm pretty happy with where they are right now... because of work, I can't really wear them all that often (plus I now have a few jeans in my rotation, so wear has definitely slowed down) The depth of the color is truly a testament to the quality the SC is known for.

Though I'm glad that I have at least one "true" repro in my rotation, I've started to wear a little more modern stuff lately (another reason why wear has slowed down). However, I think these will still be a go-to jean for autumn, chores, and whenever I wanna rock the "Amerikaji" look made popular by the Japanese Magazine Free & Easy.

  7. In any case, Ellis, Garth Ennis and Brian Wood are pretty much the only comic writers whose stuff I'll pick up without a second thought.

I was thinking about what writers I pick up without a second thought... and I don't think I really have any. Gaiman, Moore I trust enough to at least check out but even the greats strike out sometimes. I like reading reviews or getting recommendations from people before picking stuff up (though I'm usually more willing to take a risk on indie books for some reason)

Invincible is my fave capes book at the moment... I devour those trades in 20 minutes whenever they come out (can't read it in single issues, it's too much of a tease)

I'm also enjoying Scott Pilgrim immensely

  8. Rolex is always a classic... I'm no watchhead, but if you're hoping that your timepiece is going to continue to hold some sort of value in the future, Rolex is probably your best bet since A) they're a well-recognized name, so collectors will pay top dollar for them and B) since they're so well established, there's a good chance that their service centers will still exist in the future

Watches are def something you should do extensive research on...

  9. oh shit, you totally schooled me (plus I could've wikipedia'd that...)

it's always interesting to see which franchises survived the early days of comics. Sometimes it seems like a total crapshoot and sometimes, I feel like it's all about the willingness of creators to change and update those characters...

  10. Was that where he went with weapon X, XI, and XII?

Yes, that was that run... when he explained that Weapon X = Weapon 10 (and that Steve Rogers = Weapon 1!), I shat my fanboy pants... that's one of those great ideas that flips everything on its side. Too bad Wolverine's history is so fucked up that nothing ever holds up very long when they try to do a history of him. I think at this point, he's some sort of soldier-ninja-samurai-victorian American-spy... from Canada? and he's a mutant too?

wow. extremely interested in the morrison/xmen run. funny that he had a run on doom patrol AND xmen, in that order, as x-men is a really a doom patrol clone.

explain yourself sir... X-Men came out in the 60's, yeah? and didn't doom patrol come out in the 70's?
