That's cool - but it sounds contradictory to the dry cleaning instructive. I guess it's just my associations with both merino and thermal. I have a few merino thermals and they're great but I use thermals to work in which means they get sweaty and dirty and need to be washed - and I do wash them a lot. It would be similar if someone made dry clean only blue jeans, only these jeans need to be washed every few wears at most.

Serious question: What's the utility of an expensive ass thermal that one has to baby at the dry cleaners? I get that I'm asking about utility on a fashion forum, but still.

Good on you @heyson. I hate selling jeans (so I rarely do...actually usually try to give them away if I know someone will appreciate it for what it is - it's also an incentive for restricted buying). They're meant to be worn - and worn, and thrashed even. Even if they're made by hand by one super skilled artisan. I understand the collector mentality and all but not really so much for denim. My rotation is pretty similar to yours currently (129s, 1003xx are two of my main 3).

@discwork are you happy how you sized your black s40's after receiving/washing them? I'm still considering them. I'm a 29-30 waist usually (most jeans that fit me well measure 14.5 or 15 across depending on the rise) but I think I'd have to go 31, maybe even 32 and I'd still get slim thighs, but on black jeans maybe I don't mind that so much.

@bartlebyyphonics your reply makes me think you're the perfect person to have picked up this jacket. I could tell you about the culture of this school, why it was a rival of ours - aside from location, and all that it evokes from me (even down to Friday night American Football gatherings, no joke) - but I think I'll let you indulge in the symbolism it puts forth to make up your own stories! I will say there are no valleys anywhere near the school - it's in terrain about as flat as you can find in the US. There's a part of me that feels like I could probably even track down exactly to whom it originally belonged - not that I will - but probably not too many Krystals at that school with that level of athletic involvement...hell, my guess is there's a good chance I've been in the same vicinity as that jacket numerous times ohh, exactly 21, 22 years ago haha. And yes, though my memory is a touch foggy, I had little interest in anything cultural outside of skateboarding and music (and that included fashion unless it was from a skateboarding company) and I myself never got one of these jackets I do seem to recall that those collars were just for the ladies - our school had them as well.

Nice fit, but this is too bizarre to me. NV '01 was the second class to graduate in this still pretty new high school. Had I lived 5 miles south of where I grew up that's where I would have gone - and at around that time. Between Warehouse making repro knockoffs of another school in my backyard and seeing stuff like this, I just get a kick out of it all I guess. I probably could find some people who still have this jacket stuck in the back of their closet.

Haha geez. I checked yesterday morning and there was nothing, then not again until today. Missed out on that. Ooe going the way of Supreme? A good time to remind myself I have plenty of good jeans already.

Same here. I've been eyeing a few pairs but if I can get my hands on one I'll abstain from new jeans from then through all of 2022. I'm typing this to hold myself to that. I've wanted a pair of OA's for awhile and this cut looks like exactly what I want. Not holding my breath though.

Same issue here - I’m eyeing the TCB’s but I’m a 29 in most brands, and really it’s always the thighs that get me. Even a warehouse or MF/SC 29 sits slightly loose on my waist but I can’t go down at all in the thighs - or at least I don’t want to because I don’t want the skinny jean look. The TCB sizing says I would be like a 32, but it’s hard to imagine a 40’s cut being that restrictive - at the same time a waist looser than an inch is sort of a dealbreaker for me. So knowing my “correct” size is generally 29 and sometimes 30, but then seeing @discwork’s correct size being a 31, and then getting a 31 in TCB (as opposed to like a 33 or something given the measurements) just got me unsure of it all.

Tender tux - pretty usual fare these days.
  12. Thanks for the heads up! This looks like the best solution I’ve seen, if the fit works and I can find it - having never sized for TCB is it really that much different? Size charts at Bears are saying I’d be going up 2-3 sizes from my normal and that’s before shrinkage, which seems significant.
  13. @beautiful_FrEaKthanks for pointing this out. I’m not sure of my TCB sizing (never owned a pair) but I’m usually a 29 if the thigh is generous enough and the smallest they have is 31 but I will dive into the measurements in case. I just really don’t like oversized waists if I can avoid it.
  14. Hey we’ve all got our quirks eh. I’m aware of those and they look nice but still aren’t quite raw, dealer aside. If the answer doesn’t exist that’s okay.
  15. Looking for black, unsanforized, raw jeans in a pretty classic 40’s cut with a full leg and mid to high rise. I don’t buy from SelfEdge and I while the lot 64 MF cut is nice for me the measurements seem slightly different for this fabric (thighs slightly narrower) and I don’t love the frog pockets. Any alternatives? I might go for the MF and size up but really don’t love a loose waist. TCB’s seem out of stock also, in addition to them being one wash only.
