  1. I'm looking at getting the Neal in black pepper chambray as I'd very much like a dark chambray and right now it's between this and the ELMC. I'm however a bit confused about the sizing. I've looked at the measurements over at Klamp and the 17 looks perfect pre wash which makes me believe I should go for the 17.5 and just wash the shit out of it it's too big after an initial wash. Would this be the way to go? The only answer I can get out of them is that it will "shrink greatly with wash" so that's not a lot to go on.

Hah, this is funny. I wore my Coupens today and realized that the metal plates have disintegrated like crazy. Not much wear on them either. Oh well, good to know they can be replaced if I feel like it.

Otherwise, great looking Coupens @Broark, it'll be interesting to see how they develop. Glad you found them in your size as well.

I agree that the whole thing seems absurd, but let’s not pretend we’re all too different—Duke, you’ve spent the last three months putting all your clothes up on mannequins in a specially-lit room just to take photos of them

Don’t get me wrong, I’m perfectly happy subscribing to this flavor of doublethink, and I’ve greatly appreciated the cataloging of all things Freewheelers, as I do most content posted here, but the argument does go both ways…

edit: All that having been said, let’s please, please never start posting “flat lays” on here

For me the difference is quite simple and clear. Dukes approach is to showcase every piece individually - somewhat like a museum. The flat lays on Instagram showcase outfits - it's something that's supposed to be a composition worn on your body, not on your carpet. I realize there's a fine line and I don't really care how it's perceived, to me it's pretty clear.

In some sense I have more respect for something like what's shown on the last page as it has some kind of artistic value or approach and isn't just your daily outfit. I'm not interested in seeing cheap flannels and Red Wings laid out on people's floor.

    That's my opinion anyway.

  4. I don't know about the community (I'm not really on Instagram) but all this flat laying bullshit does my head in. What's the point of folding and placing your clothes in some kind of composition? Wear the fucking clothes or don't bother.

It feels like all this tagging of brands is going overboard a bit as well. I don't know if people suddenly expect to get free stuff if they push certain brands or if it's just about recognition. It's nice enough to have a decent idea what people are wearing if you see something you like but other than that it's fairly pointless.

  5. So, I got my shirt from Rivet&Hide today (super fast shipping and great service). Compared to IH UHF I'd say this feels less dense but have more of a vintage feel to it. I'm interested in seeing how this will perform when taken outside properly as the only reason getting a flannel this heavy is to keep warm.

Lovely shirt well worth what I paid but I'll look into getting them from Japan next time to save some.

Should I get shoe trees to use in my boots (Chippewa)? Anyone have experience with Woodlore?

It depends on how you want them to age and how often you wear them. If you don't wear them everyday the moisture won't build up that much and shoe trees isn't really necessary for that reason. On the other hand, if you want to keep them nice and straight without creases it might be a good idea (however I personally don't think that kind of boot/shoe calls for that treatment). Zealots will tell you that it doesn't matter unless the shoe trees are made from the actual last.

I don't use them, if I had a pair of nice dress shoes I probably would.

  7. @cungster I'm a 10 in Lofgrens and I'd say 10 is the best size on the Coupen last. I can also do a 9,5 which is good lengthwise but a little slim. Rule of thumb is go for your UK size but in US if that makes sense. Eastwest carry the Coupens and have very extensive size comparison. Also, if you're buying from there Janie is extremely helpful and generally just a nice guy.

Also, I'm think I'm a 10,5-11 in Red Wing (US) if I remember correctly.

  8. ^ That's nice! I'm still debating whether to get the green or the red one - they're both great looking.

Edit: I ended up getting the red one from Rivet&Hide. A tad expensive but I want to check their sizing out before ordering from JP.

  9. @julian-wolf Mister Freedom have a couple but they're pretty expressive with a lot of funky details.

I got a Post Overalls plaid linen shirt this summer - very nice shirt but unfortunately I had to send it back as it didn't fit properly. End does stock it in 2 colours but it's pricey as fuck. I got mine on sale.

Indigofera also makes their Delray shirt in black linen. This has been my go to shirt this summer but it's short sleeve.
