  1. I have noticed that despite the 'sloppiness' and the all cotton stitching, CSF jeans seem to last quite well. I have had a couple issues with my 1937 jeans, but both issues have been specific to the denim fabric and not the stitching. Having worn mine since October, I have had no issues with the stitching/construction at all.

  2. I think it's mostly a backlash against the fashion watches which tend to be too large. I agree with you and I don't really understand why 38mm is suddenly the perfect size. Even bigger dudes are saying this and honestly, I think their 38mm watches look small on them. My GS is 39.1mm and I do like the size as its a dress watch and I have small wrists. However, I don't think a 42mm or even a 44mm would look bad on me. Divers that are 40 and under do look silly to me as well, but to each their own.

Not related to CSF specifically, but I always found it strange that jeans, and most pants, are sized in 1" increments up to 34". Some models are made in 35" but it's rare. And I've never seen a 37". Perhaps it's a patterning throw back to when being above 34" was less common? And fellas generally wore their jeans fuller. if you happened to be larger than 34", 2" +/- was close enough?

To be honest, I still wonder why companies don't make a size 37. I've seen many comments and reflections about how a size between a 34 and 36 or between a 36 and 38 would be perfect. 35 and 37 should be more standard sizes.

I think that Reddit’s format is perfect for lurkers and some topics, like technology, where things are constantly changing and there’s a lot of new news.

I think it’s horrible for raw denim. Any information that could’ve been useful gets buried with each new post, meaning you see the same things pop up over and over and over again.

Also, Reddit’s format in general just seems very impersonal. Maybe it’s because the site is so huge but if you make a comment it seems like almost no one will read it, whereas with superfuture people are forced to read your drivel! Again, I think it works well for lurkers though when you sort by top rated comments or whatever.

That's very well said. It works for very casual information, but is terrible for going in depth on anything and having real, lasting discussions

It's terrible isn't it?! I will never understand how it works... Pity as some sub reddits seem to have a lot  of interesting information, especially goodyearwelt. But the whole format is too cumbersome to me too.

Indeed. I don't understand how it became so popular with the format being so awful. I have a reddit account, but I used it only a couple of times in r/rawdenim and r/goodyearwelt before giving up on the format.

  6. I just received my 1922 jeans the other day and in terms of design, they are already by favorite pair. Cinch back and exposed back pocket rivets? Yes, please!! Those are my two favorite design details in jeans. Other cool details of note include the suspender buttons that I will likely never use, the beautifully wonky stitching on the back pockets, and the back pockets themselves which have one of the most interesting and appealing back pocket shapes that I have ever seen. These are pre-soak pics and I'm not too fussed about taking post-soak ones yet because this pair utilizes the 1937 11oz denim which I have already photographed extensively. Overall, I am in love with these. The lighter denim is perfect in California and as I know from my 1937 jeans, extremely comfortable as well.

I think this sums it up for me too. Sick of the 2030, pointy toe service boots. They just don't fit my feet well and seem to be a dime a dozen.
And Dude, I think that if you had made those points originally a lot of people would have agreed with you. Instead you just claimed that Viberg has fallen from graces or whatever so that's why I wrote what I wrote. I wouldn't say that I'm flat out wrong in saying their construction methods haven't changed, they just started making more GYW options because they were evidently ruining a bunch of leather when attempting stitch down on more thin and exotic leathers. So saying that I'm wrong about the construction methods is BS.  If you ask me the whole stitch down vs GYW thing is completely overblown, but I'm no expert and don't claim to be. I prefer the look of stitch down much more as well, but a shoe being GYW is not going to stop me from buying a pair of boots. The new Lofgren M43 Boondockers look great as GYW boots.
I don't think there's much point in arguing with you because you're not likely to budge and that's fine, we all have our opinions!

Yeah I should have, but I've talked to death about it and already wrote an article on the subject so that's why I was lazy and didn't explain myself, but I should have been more clear.

I don't care about gyw vs stitch down either. Hell, I prefer gyw in general, but a lot of people have complained about it and that adds to my argument that Vibergs reputation has fallen.

It's funny that you say you don't want to argue with me, yet you continue to respond to what I say. I think I've conceded a lot more than you have and yet you say I'm the one who is unlikely to budge... Interesting.

I don't know if it's really fair to talk about "how far Viberg has fallen" just because you don't stylistically agree with what they make at this moment.
It's not like they changed their construction methods, started buying shitty leather or shipped their production methods overseas.
Hell, I don't like those boots and I'd never buy a pair that looks like that myself, but they are still well made and the company still makes a classic work boot here and there.
Just because you don't agree with the direction and some of the shoes that they make doesn't mean they've suddenly fallen to a B-rate shoemaker.
I agree that I don't like a lot of of the stuff they have been doing lately, but you can only sell so many big 'ol work boots to heritage guys. I think Brett is just trying to angle for a different market on the side. It's not like they're exclusively making high fashion shoes and have completely forgotten their heritage.
    Just my opinion. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Disagree. I have seen some pretty questionable stitching coming from Viberg.  Also, they have changed construction methods so you are wrong about that... they used to only do stitch down and now they do a lot of Goodyear welting. I don't think they're now B rate, but their reputation has fallen significantly. It was not long ago that everyone was singing Viberg's praises. Their reputation is definitely not what it once was, though they still have a lot of fans. Therefore, their reputation has indeed fallen in the denim and work wear circle. I didn't say their construction has necessarily fallen. I think it was never as good as most people said it was. Also, this is not just about what they've done lately. This is a trend that has been building for a few years. Obviously, they are still quite popular. My point is that among the denim head audience or whatever you want to call it, they are not considered golden gods like they used to, which I think is a good thing.

I should have clarified with what I meant by 'fallen.' I just meant that their position in the heritage boot market has been shaken. Truman, love them or hate them, has gained a lot of traction (for the record, I do not own any Truman boots either) and I have definitely noticed that Wesco's reputation has risen while Viberg's has gone down slightly. I remember a time when Viberg was considered to clearly be the best of the Pacific Northwest bootmakers. Over the last couple of years, I have seen more and more people say that Wesco is the best of that bunch. Again, Viberg's quality may not have changed at all, but how they are perceived has changed for the negative.

Current wait is closer to two years. I know many waiting 2-2.5 years now.

This makes no sense. How does Konaka-San from CSF run a store and pump out jeans to customers in less than a month most of the time?

  10. I buy whatever I want regardless of time of the year. I probably do buy a few more t shirts in warmer months, but most of the sweatshirts that I have bought have been purchased in the spring and summer simply based on what came available.

Of course, this may partly be due to wear I live. It can get warm even in the winter and I can sometimes wear jackets on nights into June, so I don't have to be as seasonal with my clothing.

Iron Heart ones seem to be pretty popular. They actually own their own machines if I'm not mistaken?

Pretty positive they do not. From what I know, only Loopwheeler, Merz, and Flat Head actually own loopwheel machines, though there may be more. In fact, I remember reading on here that Flat Head actually lets loopwheeler use their machines or they make fabric for them or something like that. I may be wrong as well. @kiya would likely know.
