  1. I haven't posted any progress pics of my 710's for quite some time because, well, frankly there has been no progress. It would appear that i am afflicted by the condition known as cantfadeforshititus.

However I washed them yesterday - after my recent trip to the estuary they were covered in sand and salt water spray - and lo:

    Well, its something....

Watch out Max, Cander, Nizzel, Raindogs, louisbosco and all you other big faders - that's right, im coming for YOU  :angry2:

    hahahahahahaha!

edit: in the spirit of full disclosure i feel obliged to add that these are a good 10 months old.....

  2. ^ agreed - top review. From a personal point of view the 710 comparison was particularly useful.

However, for the love of God, please lose the moccasins & white socks accompaniment - it hurts, it hurts! :-)

Seriously though, good job mate - I look forward to seeing their progress.

  3. This is probably a hangover from my designer days but to be fair, I've always been interested in brands, designs and logos. Example: When I was a pup, I chose my football team (no small decision to an English kid) based on who's crest I liked best. It was a happy coincidence that this was also the team whose ground I was born less than a mile from, in the area where I lived for most of my life and I have never regretted this decision.

Subsequently a very important detail for me is the patch.

My question is this; can a sewn on patch (such as found on samurai, pbj etc) be altered in order to allow a belt to go under rather than over (such as 3sixteen, iron heart etc)?

Being thinner leather than the 'over the belt' patches, would they need to be attached to a thicker piece of leather perhaps? Is that even possible?

I am well aware that some may find the idea at best pointless and perhaps even disrespectful to the original design, but hey - vive le difference, right? :-)

Edited to correct (some of) the pants grammar....

  4. Hmmm my 710's are tag size 29, each time I've tried on 1108xx (couple of recent occasions now) I've had to go to a 28" to get a similar fit ... Obviously as shop items the 1108xx have yet to be washed/shrunk but aren't they notorious for stretching right back out (and more)?

I hope so anyway as I've got a pair of ed's special run 1108 on the way in size 28.

Would follow Max's advice without hesitation every time, but that is my experience so far. Perhaps it's different for smaller sizes. I've noticed that to be the case with PBJ for example.

  5. Took a walk out to an island out in the estuary, only reachable for a few hours at a time due to the tides. Really trippy experience - it looks so calm and serene but in reality its about minus who knows degree C and gale force winds are threatening to knock me off my feet at any moment...

And all the while the tide is constantly returning.

I wrapped up warm for this one - 3sixteen heavyweight tshirt, pure blue japan polo, kooples leather jacket, Barbour x tokito coat, moncler hat, scarf and gloves, samurai 710xx 19oz, Anonymousism socks and red wing Beckmans. Still brass monkeys.

  6. Ordered the 710OG from 2nd.... Shipped to UK. Customs looking just over £80 from myself!! Surely that can't be right??

Sorry dude, that's about right.... Been stung to the same tune with similar orders.

20% vat, 20% duties on cotton clothing plus parcel farces ridiculous fees for doing you the privilege of taking bloody ages to pay those fees on your behalf.

  7. Artisandenim is so good to his denim, his jeans get to go on vacation! :D In an awesome gesture I received his S5000VX 21oz yesterday to take them for a spin. My daughter was unimpressed, though.

I was all the more and celebrated with a couple beers.

I can button them up no problem, and with a bit more stretch the waist will be perfect. The seat is a bit tighter than I expected, and the rise could be a bit higher, but I'm counting on stretch taking care of that. Right now I have a bit of hungry ass going on   I love the fit throughout the legs and the leg opening, this is exactly what I'm looking for. Here's fit pics from today:

The leg fit has priority to me, another model or going TTS would give more rise and a roomier top block but also more room in the legs, so SD1 on the S5000 it is.

Oh, and that denim  It's a real pleasure to handle.

And all the cheers to Artisandenim!

    Hey Cucoo, nice fit!

Glad to see you are making them feel at home by drinking beer with them...

They are definitely a good match with your boots so I can see why the leg is important. Hope they are proving useful to your decision making process!

  8. Hey cucoo, what size were you thinking of?

I've got a pair of very sparsely worn 29" s5000vx 21 oz here that aren't getting much love at the moment... Don't get me wrong - I really like them and have no intention of parting with them permanently, but all my focus seems to be on my 710xx and 3 sixteens at the moment.

do you want to borrow them for a bit to be sure they are right?

This is a photo I took of a photo in a pub toilet. Couldn't see who to credit with the original and the landlord didn't have a scooby either. Technically though since I took THIS photo do I credit myself? Sorry, but well.... Anyone wishes to credit on my behalf feel free.

Whatever, I like the picture - don't know if these are local dudes (I somehow doubt it), but the pub is VERY old and on an estuary so it would be nice to think so.

  10. ^ ha! Truth...

for me I do quite enjoy the ritual of seeing the denim adapt and take shape in stages which is why I always go through the hassle of a soak even though I know full well they are going to end up in the machine!

Bear in mind though, it's the agitation which gets rid of the most starch and therefore allows the most shrink.

Hope you enjoy the PBJs mate that double indigo, slubby, slubby denim is really something special!

  11. Bigs measurements are reliable, rivet & hides measurements are reliable.

More reliable still is to contact the store you intend to order from and ask them to measure the jeans they will send you - after all each pair is different.

Any good retailer will happily do this.

  12. Ah, that's possible, tried to do it through my mobile while out and about with a crappy signal. Didn't think it worked so waited til I got home and did it again...

You can send to either - CH1 is my work address CH4 is home. The payment went through on the CH4 zip if that makes any difference.

    Cheers Ed!
