  1. Hey Danny, sorry we missed you on Friday.

Picked up a pair of the 3sixteen 77bsp for the Mrs (close run thing between them and the Railcar Vipers).

They fit really well from the outset but Junior was insistent we give them a soak before proper wear. Did this day before yesterday (damn those things bleed indigo - to quote someone else on this forum 'it looked like someone had murdered a smurf') and hung dried them overnight.

Mrs put them on yesterday to go out last night and came down with a massive grin on her face - the fit is now absolutely bang on and the soak seems to have darkened and crisped up the fabric a little. Whilst they haven't 'shrunk' as such they have tightened up in all the right places, just as Junior advised. She genuinely couldn't be happier with them and neither could I.

Please thank Junior & Jake for their time and patience - Not only does my wife really enjoy her new denim she also really enjoyed the process of choosing thanks to all the help and encouragement.

See you again in a few weeks when we are next down!

  2. No experience with TFH model but if the texture you are after is rough, slubby and irregular I would not advise the s5000vx. Whilst it is pretty special denim it is quite smooth and even. Although maybe a bit hairy....

The other point is, TFH 2111 are slim tapered and the s5000vx are very much a comfortable straight leg so two very different cuts. Which cut is your preference?

  3. know what the cost is?

Sorry mate, didn't think to ask. No hint on the UK website either.

    That place is always empty!

Nice jeans. Not £500 nice though.

Did you visit anywhere else while you were in town? Rivet & Hide or Son of a Stag?

It wouldn't be the most I had spent on an item of clothing but probably the hardest to justify the cost of!

Had a bit of a busy long weekend, visiting family for xmas dinner (first chance to get down since), tattoo appts, catching up with mates, taking advantage of being in London for early valentines dinner etc.

That said, first place we went was Rivet & Hide. Love that shop and it helps that it is no more than a 10min walk form our flat.  Picked up some of the womens 3sixteens for the Mrs (drying at the moment will chuck up pics at some stage) to stop her robbing more of mine, and had a good old chat with Junior and Jake.

I'm on a self imposed denim ban at the moment what with the fc special run (at some stage  ;) ) and the 3sixteen Kibata due march. Proving hard to keep to though....

Didn't make it to the east end on this occasion so no SOAS visit this time. I really like the shop and their range is excellent but don't give it the priority I give to R&H as I am still struggling to justify the level of some of their mark ups. But well, that's a different story and already documented.

  4. Thanks mate. No arguments from me re price though.

I seriously only tried them on to get some snaps for this forum (Mrs thought that was well amusing, but fair play to her took the pics anyway) and because the shop was empty and the guy working there was insistent it was cool to waste a bit of time!

The denim itself was amazing, reminded me a bit of Oni secret denim with it's irregularity (but not streakiness), slubby and rough but somehow comfortable as hell.

I was very pleasantly surprised at the fit, didn't expect to like it as much as I did. Construction pretty immaculate too.

If I was ever going to spend that much on denim, these would be the choice, but could I seriously justify it? Not a chance. Mind you, when has that ever been a reason not to purchase?!

  5. Well I'm no tall dude Bobbo, can't say the exact inseam length but they sit similar to my hemmed jeans which are taken down to 33".

Edit: according to UK website the ones I'm wearing are 33.5, larger sizes the inseam is a grand old 34.

  6. Also while there tried on a pair of the No1 special, 2000 super raw. Just because they were £505 and I thought if anyone was considering buying them, some fit pics would be helpful...

These are sized down 2 to a 28".

I had no intention of buying them until I tried them on. Then I found I really like the fit and they were bloody comfortable.... Mrs liked them too which always helps.

  7. Was back in London over the weekend whilst bumming around the Carnaby street area passed the Evisu store. Took a couple of dodgy phone pics for any Evisu fans.

Soz for the crap photos but you get the idea...

  8. ^ I get the feeling it's much more of a cultural problem for western dudes, where it's earlier and more positive connotations are not as well or as widely understood. Maybe that makes it visually more prevalent for some than others.

^^ good for you mate. You like it, I dont. Potato, potato. I've said it before, vive la difference.

if I regretted any of my tattoos enough to get them covered as opposed to touched up or left intact having earned their place, I would have the commitment to lose them completely. Not a fan of half arsed efforts, but if that method is considered art then it will always have fans and detractors and that is exactly how it should be. To me tattoos are a diary of sorts and signposts of my journey. They happened, and either belong or don't. The same applies to stickering/tagging/graffiti. When I was a kid I either respected someone else's efforts and left them clean, or thought they were shit and made sure no trace remained...

The 'swastika thing' ? Ed has just said it is a Buddhist reference. that is totally fair enough. Not just the head of a key though :-)

It feels like I'm trying to start fights here... That's not the case but I won't pretend I'm not enjoying the different opinions.

  9. The key teeth or bittings resemble a swastika...and in the new design this becomes much more pronounced.

Oh. Didn't notice that... Dammit. This cannot now be unseen.

I'm going to go with Hindu lucky charm symbol.

Apart from not being the sort of thing for a normal well adjusted person to advertise, you really don't want to be representing swastikas in the Brixton/Peckham/Croydon areas of my friends and family.

Edit: although I suppose if some dude is trying to pull up the belt on my jeans (for whatever reason) a row is going to happen anyway.

  10. I don't. At all.

The original was an equal and well balanced image of all the contributing parties.

The update gives the impression that the signet store have come across a dodgy batch of full count jeans and tried to hide the fact by putting a wacking great ink stamp of their shop over the patch.

    Not best pleased with this.

Ps MF & IH - with an eagle on top of those hammers....?!

  11. Hey Danny,

I'm back in town briefly over the weekend of the 7th feb.

Whatever happens i'll be popping in to have a look at a few things i've had an eye on and also to try and broaden the wifes collection a little - i'd really like her to try on the women specific jeans you have at the moment as well as the slimmer mens styles that she likes.

Any update on the arrival of the 3sixteen kibata? I know it was scheduled for feb sometime so i'm keeping fingers crossed it coincides.

  12. Thanks. I just asked, because the 19 oz is normally fading real quick.

Ha ha! Yep, it's totally me... When I first got into this last year I went all 'kid in a candy store' and within not very long had 2 pairs of Samurai, a pair of PBJ's and a pair of 3 sixteens. Considering I can only wear at eves and weekends, hard fading was never going to be an option rotating 4 pairs!

    I don't mind though, I've got time...

Mind you , with a pair of full counts on the way and the new 3sixteen kibata in the pipeline, I don't see my fading ability improving any time soon.

    Edit:

Totally hear what you are saying about the 710xx denim - amazes me every time I wear them.

x-post from the raw from women thread

A quick update on my wife's (purloined) PBJ xx012. About seven months of wear, pretty much weekends only.

I'll try and snap a couple of fit pics as she has lost weight recently going from a uk10/12 to a uk 8, so obviously they fit different from the earlier snaps. If i'm honest I think they are now a little on the loose side but she loves them and wont hear of replacing.

We are returning to London briefly in a couple of weeks however, so I 'm hoping a visit to Rivet & hide will sway her. I'm sure after she's tried a few on...

  14. I was hoping to give the 009 a go as I can't make the other cuts work for me - I could really do with some more of that PBJ slubby double indigo goodness. Unfortunately Danny isn't getting them and i've got a few other purchases in the pipeline so my wallet is with Broarks...
