More length in the body and sleeves proportional to chest size; basically I looked at how the average modern shirt being sold by some major Western retailers was being cut in terms of measurements and used that as a template, rather than letting the factory in Japan come up with sizes.

This has been one of my biggest struggles with Japanese-made shirts; usually one of the proportions will be off, or I'll find myself between sizes. Usually sleeves are too short (though for one brand they're too long with overly wide shoulders and a tight waist) or the length is a bit too short for a shirt to stay well tucked in. I also focused on a slightly larger frame; for example I wear the Small comfortably and I'm 180 cm and 70 kg, whereas John Lofgren wears the Large. Of course if there are enough sales down the line I could offer XL and XS. B)

    Thanks!

I just took a look at the measurements on www.the-rite-stuff.com and while I get that there's an audience for those measurements, it's exactly what I don't need in a shirt: size S chest measurements look great but too long in sleeves and a tad too long in the body :D This is my dilemma with most western brands, Levi's for example will fit fine in S (or M if it's slim fit) but it'll be too long to be worn untucked. I'm just lucky that I can wear most Japanese brands without any problems ;)

Shirt does look pretty great nonetheless!

  2. Damn, that is some bad luck! We arrived in Santa Fe earlier this evening with smooth driving all the way (besides the ruckus a still kind of jet lagged toddler can cause).

We drove the turquoise trail because I wanted to see the madness of Tinkertown, it's not as great as "the Internet" claims it to be but at least my wife and daughter got in for free because of mother's day :D

  3. ^ Can't compete with that

Yesterday, we travelled along Route 66, stopping at a few places like the Leaning Tower of Texas (lol), Big Texan steak house, VW bug ranch and Cadillac Ranch. The Amarillo "Historic District" was a bit of a disappointment, I guess you have to be a biker to enjoy it or maybe visit at night for a bar crawl.

We've been enjoying Texas a lot. Today, our roadtrip takes us towards Santa Fe, with stops at a ghost town and along the Turquoise Trail.

  4. Thanks for the tip! Alas we already hit the road again, because my daughter was in a good mood and didn't mind a couple of hours of driving after an eventful day - just turned in for the night in Witchita Falls on our way north to Route 66 :)

  5. Arrived in Texas the day before yesterday - visited the Fort Worth Stockyards today. Bit touristy but fun.

The "mayor" - "we don't have tourists in Texas, we have guests!"

Am I the only person who finds denimio website cumbersome to navigate? I'm lost between the million possibilities, windows automatically open, and wherever i put my eyes there's a sick mega slub faded pair of tight tapered Oni jeans hahah!

There's a checkbox you can tick to never see the newsletter overlay again, before I noticed that I was pretty annoyed at that, too ;)

There are some good offers at Maritime Antiques - I got a pair of sea denim Malibus :P

Thanks for that link - just received the mechanic sweat and a madras shirt, totally bitten by the MF bug

I got the sweat in S, probably would have needed an M but I'll hold off judgement until it's cold enough to wear it to see how it'll look after some stretching and pulling.

The sun is in my eyes and I REALLY hate the sun. I don't wear sunglasses in every picture just to look like a cocky douchebag, you know :D

I think bf means those pants resemble pajama bottoms ;) I reckon wearing them with a shirt would maybe be better styling :D

  9. I have the "Thunder" shirt in that same fabric, just been wearing it today. Such a great fabric for warm days.

I'm really interested in those kimono style shirts too, I just have no idea if it would even fit in with the rest of my wardrobe ^^

If you want western wear, Weldon's in Denton is good.

I had this place on my list and while I was setting up a list of waypoints to do sat nav by I noticed that they closed up show in January :( A real bummer because it looked like an awesome small shop that wasn't all the same "Boot Barn" style stuff you can get everywhere.

Another thing, I'm still trying to locate a White's boots dealer somewhere in TX, NM or AZ. I'm using the dealer locator on http://www.whitesboots.com but all shops listed there either seem to not exist anymore or don't even mention White's in their brand list online. Is it actually that hard to get a selection to browse in retail?

What pair of jeans gets trashed by being washed thirteen times :D:D

Hmmm... no doubt there can be some ugly versions of it, but this guy (or guys) does it well within the overall look:

    Agreed, that doesn't look horrible.

  12. If I was in the market for a jacket I might be tempted - on the other hand I'd want to see how the denim turns out with a bit of aging first, a jacket is more of a long-term investment than a pair of jeans.

  13. I think as long as you don't size down you won't have problems with this fit, the top block and thighs are slim but not tight. I enjoy my pair a lot, it's true that they instantly feel like you've already worn them for a few weeks, but they're still rigid enough to get proper creases going.

  14. There's a dude I see in my office building every day who did exactly that (just taking scissors to all his jeans and cutting them off at above ankle height) and all I can think is "what will his mother say when she sees him ruining perfectly good jeans" :D

He doesn't even wear nice sneakers or socks. Washed out black socks and dirty Vans. Nothing you would like to show off really.

still cannot understand whether you have really ever seen Japanese motorcyclists, not those in the magazines. So, if I were to be into wearing leather jackets around the city which style and Japanese brand won't me look like a Japanese motorcyclists?

Maybe if you substitute "greaser" for "motorcyclist" in this case? It seems to make more sense then ;)
