Denim Blunders, Reflections and General Nonsense.

I've been pondering this lately too... and I've come up with "timeless, high-quality, heritage workwear-inspired menswear". Yeah, I know, too much of a mouthful of adjectives. Doesn't really work... But how else can you describe it to friends that know nothing of this rabbit hole?

    Ooe-Yofukuten & Co.

It looks a tad tight in the body, but otherwise the fit looks as intended. I don't think it looks good with the looser cut jeans. Maybe if the jacket was a size bigger it would look better with those jeans... Try it with your PBJ 019's a post a pic (I remember those jeans 'cuz I've been wanting a pair, and they look good on you).

    Unknown Non-Japanese Brands

I saw that new run of chambray shirts they're offering. Fabrics look nice. I can't do button-downs. It's shame they use such nice, interesting fabrics in that style of dress shirting. I don't think it's an appropriate use of the material. If they did it in their rugged or workshirt styles, I might consider one. Particularly the persimmon dye. I LOVE chambray shirts, and I'm always on the look-out for non-blue varieties.

home-knitted throat protection = aka dickie? WOW, horrid flash back to the 70's of parent's friends and polyester at it's worst. Never thought that would be stylish... shouldn't that go under the western shirt?

    Real McCoy's / Joe McCoy's Jeans

Nobody's discussed QC issues much here before. RMC hasn't been discussed in general nearly as much as other favored brands, so while these issues are not new, they're new info to me and others as well. And as said previously, not all garments have issues depending on where they are made. Seems like a crap shoot?

    The Leather Jacket Thread

Yeah, agree, I'd do a zipper <on a winter coat> as well. Keep the front flap to cover the zipper, and maybe swap the buttons for snaps to keep the clean look and make it easy to fasten w/ gloves. Or eliminate the front flap all together, add a storm flap behind the zipper, and make sure the welt covers the zipper when closed. I'm not really a fan of buttons of jackets. They work and are fine for classic denim jackets, and it's s good look for this style of work coat / car coat.

all of these recent RMC QC issues are very surprising and rather disturbing. I don't own any RMC stuff, and this thread has deterred me from buying any of their stuff.

    The Leather Jacket Thread

@JDelage Thx for info. The Premier Work coat is a close 2nd choice. Love it, especially the way the back yoke seam ties into the sleeve seams. I was thinking that lined w/ alpaca for a warm winter coat.

    Tanuki Japan

I'm moving these OTHT Oni x Tanuki 21.5oz Secret Denim High Taper. From the first run about a year ago. One of the very rare raw pairs. Size 32. A size too small for me. DM for deets.

    The Leather Jacket Thread

Has anyone ordered an Aero through Thurston Brothers? I've been eyeing the Sheene, which I do not see on Aero's own website. It's a Cafe Racer w/ a Highwayman collar. I'd prolly have 1" added to length and sleeves shortened by 1" to be more normal. I'd also ask if they can do 2 vertical Napoleon pockets instead of horizontal. I'm thinking blackened brown/tea core.

What are your jeans doing today?

+1 to this ^ Was in Whitefish for a few days. Did a driving loop and stopped to check it out. Not worth going too far out of your way for, but if you're close by def worth it. Very good baked goods for being so far out in now where. Has some tourist crap that gives me hives, but not like the other gift shops at the other entrances to the park. Been there for a long time, under different ownership over the years, has some real history. There was also a guy a few miles south that had set up a BBQ joint in a small lodge. It was pretty good, again for being so isolated.
