@fre-co What maker are those? Stock size, or custom?

    Self Edge, SF/NY/LA/PDX - updates & info

+1 to the indigo linen shirt. TFH westerns' fit is perfect for me, and personally I hope they measurements stay similar. The arms could be bigger tho.

@machine-language check out TFH thread. That's where a couple others and myself posted about the RFR-004.

Real Japan Blues - Jeans & Shirts...

It's a great pair, possibly one of the best ever. I recently copped a pair too, but haven't worn them yet. I've washed them and need to get them hemmed.

@lee porter @kiya For me, the IH-633-XHS is on of the greatest cuts ever, and by far IH best model. Well done Kiya!

    Roy. (expurgated edition)

Sad day indeed. I'm really sad to see him get out, but I get it. We knew this day would come. I have three pairs of his jeans: RT1002 that I've worn a bit, which are a little too tight now; Indigo Lover's in Black Seed, and the last batch of RT's in XX Barn Denim - both with tags and unwashed. Not sure if I'll wash and wear them, or keep them for collection nostalgia. Prolly will never sell. Now I wish I held on to that last pair of LeRoy's I sold that were too small, I could have gotten a lot more for them now...

Are they made in JP, or made in US for JP market?

Danner can built a decent boot when they put their mind to it.

Shoes that look better with age...

Copped my first pair of Feit footwear. Chelsea Rubber boots. I've been following Feit since their inception, always kinda interested in them. When I saw these on sale, the price was good enough for me to try them. They graciously shipped a 42 and 43 and let me send back the pair that doesn't fit. I went with the 43. It's a bit long in the toe, but the width and volume are good. I have wide feet and prefer EE and EEE sizes, so they're not quite ideal, but good enough for random casual wear. The leather is described as veg-tanned semi-cordovan. From I can learn, it's hind quarter horse hide that contains the shell layer. I've seen this used on other JP footwear brands, including TFH. These boots are an interesting blend on rustic, refined, and rugged. Craftsmanship is top-notch, but not as perfect as the high end custom makers. Fully hand stitched GYW by one master craftsman. Made from a single piece of leather with only one seam at the back. The fit is very comfortable. They're one of the few pairs of boots with a heel that I can tolerate. This is largely due tot he sloped heel block and no built-in arch support. Overall very pleased.

@cause4pause nice pair! They do look too big. Roy's Black Seed denim will shrink a lot. Give them another wash in hot water, inside out, and a 15 +/- minute hot cycle in a dryer. There just might still be some shrink left.

    The Flat Head

RHxTFHxRJB RFR-004 arrived a few weeks ago, and finally got to take some pics, take measurements, and wash them. These are a f'g amazing pair. They nailed just about everything on this one. The cut is great as it's got ample thighs and not too aggressively tapered. They cut the pocket openings lower so their very useable. And the denim... oh, the denim... I'm glad I went w/ a 34. They shrunk quite a bit, and they should be a perfect fit with a little wear and stretch. These are in the running for my favorite pair ever. Measurements: Raw - post-wash Waist, laid flat: 17.0/34.0 - 15.625/31.25 Waist, front and back aligned: 17.25/34.5 - 16.125/32.25 Front Rise: 11.5 - 11.0 Back rise: 15.75 - 15.0 Thigh at crotch: 13.5 - 13.0 Thigh 2" down: 12.5 - 12.0 Knee 14" down: 9.25 - 8.75 Hem: 8.0 - 7.75 Inseam: 38.75 - 36.5 Apologies for the poor pics, I can't get my phone camera to take decent pics in the tiny shoe-box condo I'm currently in...

Shoes that look better with age...

Final thought for now: As I mentioned a few posts ago in this thread, a pet peeve of mine is boots/shoes with a square heel block. GS heel is sloped so the heel sits flat on the ground. When comparing the fit of the double leather sole with a built up full leather leather heel to the micro stud sole that runs the full length of the sole, and then the heel cap is installed on top of that, the double leather sole is more comfortable. On the micro stud sole, I can feel the front edge of the built up heel under foot. On the double leather sole, there's no sensation of that at all. I'm pretty well set in my kit for this type of boot/shoe. But if/when GS releases a new leather for the Diesel boot in EEE w/ a double leather sole, I'll be copping for sure. Oh, I also order a pair of their Chelsea boots to try on. I have to admit, as much as I like their designs for their core boots and shoes, their Chelsea is their crowning achievement. It's such a well designed, good looking boot. It bridges the gap between super pointy fashion dress boot and clunky toe work boot. Elegant with a just enough rugged edge, and a hint of Western / Cowboy boots influence. I returned them because they were too narrow. If / when they offer a wide size, I'll definitely cop a pair.

Long Wing in British Tan Calf, double leather outsole w/ Svig forefoot and heel overlays. Since I was in college I've had a thing for wing tips. I prefer a full brogue where the brogue looks as a heel counter, rather than this style of long brogue at the full length of the side. But given everything else I like about GS, I'll happily take it.
