  1. unfortunately the plain insurance that our harpist had (we were on her car!) had no clause for theft. the instruments were all 10+yrs old and back at the time I bought them I didn't even have a credit card, so no credit card insurance that we could claim either.

One thing I will do for sure as soon as I have all the new gear on hand will be to insure everything. I am still licking my wounds after the big loss.

thanks for your kind words though. I have a meeting next sunday in Bruges with a flutemaker and friend of mine, who will make me all the new gear. I still have to hear how much will be the final damage..most likely there won't be any new japanese denim or fine boots for me in the next year, fuuuuucck!

  2. Totally true! This same thought had occurred to me. I would love to see the wilderness of Taiwan as well. My brother went there earlier this year and rated it highly.

That's a fun tattoo Volvo (and I love the car). Why a whale?

that's actually a spermwhale, like Moby Dick, I couldn't do a Albino spermwhale as a tattoo though! I love Melville and his book. I read it three time with all the different Italian translations including the one done by Cesare Pavese, which is one of my favourite Italian writers too. I've tried to read it in English too but it was too hard for me, I've struggled for a couple hundred pages and gave it up eventually.

Beside Melville I just love whales and i've seen them a number of times here in the Mediterranean. there is a spot in the sea nearby Noli (about 30 km from where I live) where is actually quite easy to see them, so easy that the area is also known as La Costa delle Balene (the whale's coast). But I've never forget the first time I've seen one: It was ten years ago and i was on tour in Canada, we had a gig in Vancouver Island and we spotted a huge spermwhale while on the ferry from Vancouver to the Island. it was just an inceredible experience as it was close enough to be seen really well.

  3. today myself, my best buddy Paolo, the TCB's and the volvo we all went to Milan to get tattoos.

Pietro is a man of disherning taste, his style is a mixture of Japanese denimbro, English country and Italian sartorial.needless to say we spent all the time talking about Japanese denim!

  4. no for fuck sake! volvos were not included in the patch design, otherwise it could have been an idea ahaha!

kidding apart, myself and my best friend are going to Milan to get two whales tattoos from Pietro Sedda, a great  Italian tattoo artist. should be fun!

  5. No big updates for me too. It's been a weekend of miserable weather. Lot of places in my area have been flooded, thank God nothing happened at my village, we live very close to a river side and we're always a little bit worried when it rains a lot.

I spent most of the week end laying on a rug and working hard on my daddy style fades!

  6. lots of musicians around!

unfortunately my gear wasn't covered by insurance, and neither my mates stuff.

it's something I've never got around to do, and I can only blame myself for that.

A Belgian luthier friend of mine just offered my a temporary loan for free of all the gear I need to do my gigs. this guy is an angel, I shall visit his workshop in about two weeks to collect the stuff while on tour, I will try to post a few pics of the place where he lives (beautiful Bruges, one of my favourite cities in the world!). unfortunately the pics will be taken with an iphone as my camera is gone too....

  7. Guys I am considering to part with my B10 jacket by the way, it's a 42 but runs very tight and might be appropriate for a EU/US size 40 chest. It's a great jacket and I love it but I can't really wear it unless I only wear a shirt underneath.

I just got robbed of a lot of my work tools for an extimated value of circa 7k euros, and at the moment even the twopenny that I can get from this sale might help.

it cost about 75 euros without counting the proxy fees and EMS. I am willing to sell it for 75 including shipping to Europe.

  8. Just for the sake of keeping the instrument talk going...I am a full time professional musician and the tools that were stolen were two wooden transverse flutes and two recorders. All very specific gear that needs a knowledgeable seller to be sold. The two traversos were made by a flute maker in Australia who is known to be one of the best 3 in the market. He used to have a six year waiting list, but now he's close to retirement and doesn't accept anymore orders. I had the flutes made to my specs 12 years ago 😞

My colleagues had all their gear in the car too for an average estimate value of 25k Eur..

And this is just more than money... At least I didn't leave my TCB jacket in the car... They even stolen our luggage with clothes. Gig in Switzerland cancelled and we returned home. Most terrible day I had in a while.

  9. They look good Paul. Fantastic updates, and extra points for the coffee talk. I'll add some photos of my gear when time permits.

Today is a bad day for me unfortunately, I was going to Switzerland for work and our car has been robbed while we were having a sandwich in the last Italian autogrill before the border. Thieves had cloned the remote locking system and opened the boot without no problems. I had 7k worth of work tools stolen plus a new canon camera and some other photo tools. :( bad bad day

  10. thanks SM! frankly I've lost track of the number of wears. I've got them in june 2013 and I wore them in rotation til april, then from april every day til crotch blowout in late august! I must have worn them 4 or 5 days from the contest start. around 12 months, maybe a little less.
