  1. that'd be good. you could even try skipping a proxy too for taobao. I've seen it's possible but I won't try it, it looks too cumbersome for me.

I am not  taken on those tinted wefts too. Very curious to see the Mega-approved SZ model. from what I've seen on the chambray shirt I've got from them their workmanship level and attention for details it's very high.

  2. what brand are these Hoggy? nice leather colour, typical italian style over-your-face branding though! what sort of horween is that? might ask for a similar colour for my upcoming Lennon shoes order.
I definitely prefer English shose over Italian as a general point of view. Funny enough I've had some Irish and British friends visiting and more than a few of them were very excited to buy Italian shoes, they all bought some clownesque Moma's from a local shop, thinking they are very cool. I'd be more happy to buy some Trickers or Alfred Sargents though!
for anyone who like clark's desert boots there is a very nice Italian brand doing a much better quality model than Clarks, the brand is called Astorflex and they use some real good leathers. I don't like DB's (I had enough of them for my entire life!) but many of my friends here love them.

  3. great job there jyoni.

I can't decide wheter to hem or not my pair. sometimes I love the double cuff and sometimes I hate it, depending on which shoes I am wearing.

I might send them over to the handy denim repair man in groningen holland. he did some sweet repairs to my pairs in the past and I've heard from him that the has a Union Special for chainstitching. he's  a very funny guy too, always throws some unexpected freebies in the package. first time I received a selvedge denim card holder, second time two dutch waffels hidden in the pockets of the jeans and a very funny drawing. wondering what he could come up with for the third parcel ahah! I reccomend him very much for darning repairs to anybody in EU. he charges 15 eur for a chainstitch hem, but if I count in signed-for shipping both ways I am going to spend 45 euros all around... does anybody know if there's a cheaper way for Europe?

  4. the baby sleep talk!

she's good and my wife is great so I can't complain. she usually sleeps in her cot straight the first 3 hours then we co-sleep the rest of the night. most of the time my wife does the hard job and I don't even notice it. I am a very supporting papa ahaha! I'll get her some tcb 50's when it's about time!

  5. I am more of a English boot guy, and I live in Europe, so I can't help on the American brands.. I have bought many shoes second hand on ebay.co.uk and you can get some pretty good deals. I always look on ebay for second hand Trickers of factory seconds. both Trickers and Sanders sell the factory seconds on Ebay and on most cases the faults are barely visible.

  6. then we met with some friends at our village where there was the local "castagnata" (chestnut fest). people eat roasted chestnuts, drink red wine and listen to terrible music (!). all people involved in the organization are volunteers and the proceeds go for charity projects.

    that's it for this weekend!

  7. yesterday I did wash my pair at 40°C and I'm glad I did as I got some further shrink, especially in the inseam. I'd say I can keep the jeans without a further hem, it looks good and I already see some roping.

here's the first progress I can see on the jeans, my ubiquitous concho wallet fade (it will probably turn out in a hole in one year)

  8. FWIW, and at the risk of sounding like a cheapskate after all this talk about great Japanese brands..

I recently acquired this chambray shirt, by Chinese brand Sace Zhan

    http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.1.w4004-4819971230.31.SP8HUK&id=19853022060

I am really really pleased with it. beatiful regular cut, excellent workmanship, nice thick chambray.

the only other chambray I have that I can compare it is a jcrew and the difference is like night and day.

  9. I've been wearing my pair everyday since the start, I've only missed about 6 hours this sunday. after three weeks they started already to smell rustic, and yesterday they've been christened by some daughters puke, hence I decided that they will hit their first wash very soon! I've also lost 4 kilos since the start of the contest so I will give them a 40°C wash with no hesitation!

does anyone have some evo yet worth to be mentioned?
