^ foxy, a woman of the stature of your wife should definitely join the contest then!

Beautiful p1800 in BRG, your wife has a very discerning taste, indeed!

I read somewhere above that Volvo owners prefer TCB these days - so I decided to join...
Good man!
Tell us more about your Volvo, too! Is it an oldtimer?
A man of your stature must drive an old one! Ahah!

Yeah, me too! Meanwhile I am working hard on the TCB 60's, the more I wash and wear them and the more incredible they look... I feel the 50's fabric will fade even better. It's going to be an epic contest, I foresee some legendary fades!

No I don't think those will be the 50's pair tabs.
Those should be a replica of the orange tabs of the 606 model. I believe Hajime is planning to make a replica of the iconic 606 cut.
The contest pair will feature the usual rayon red tab, I believe.

great stuff Maynard. how does AS compare to Tricker's, quality wise, in your experience?

for me it'd be super to receive the pair a little before aug 1st. on jul 22nd I will leave for a business trip and I'll be all over Europe for about 10 days. I could post some fun updates if I can get my pair in time!

all this tcb excitement made me think of this classic Simpson's line:
:D
edited as I can't embed the video, feck!
re edited as now works, double feck!

Yeah that was a crap match btw.. Both Italy and Uruguay would have deserved to not advance in this World Cup... I'll have to support Germany from now on!

^ here you go buddy!

have to agree. I dig the 710 cut but some of the fade samples are too washed out for me!Should I ever get a pair of 710's I will treat them exactly the same way as other pairs (wait at least 2 months of solid wear before the first wash)

La bambina (it's a girl!) is in great form thanks! Busy sleeping/pissing/pooping/barfing and occasionally smiling, like most 2months old babies!

Yeah indeed, but if you look at the TCB blog you can see the kind of fading potential this fabric has with more frequent washes. I didn't want an overly washed out look so I waited three months (instead of 6) for the first wash. Anyway now I am washing frequently I believe I'll get there soon!

Today is a cloudy day here, perfect for taking pics, so here's a little update. TCB 60's, at about 8 months of effective wear, nice and crisp after their 8th machine wash.
Front #1
Back seat close up, paper patch has gone with the wind, and concho wallet dug a hole in the back pocket
I am so happy with this pair, it holds really well too, apart from the wallet hole all other sensible parts (crotch, pockets, etc) are still perfect.
Should I ever get another 60's pair I will probably wash more and go for a little less contrast.
Have a nice Sunday!30 -
hajime general advice is measure your waist where jeans sit and and size accordingly (eg if your waist measures 36 go with a w36 raw). you could size up 1 if you wish a looser fit and if you plan to wash often.
I have both a tcb 50's jacket and a tcb 60's jeans and both were very faithful to the post soak measurements on tcb website after a week or so of wear. right after soak both were slighty smaller.
I believed twice to hajime's website sizechart and I received two of the best fitting garments I have in my closet, so I'm going to rely on his measurements again on these 50's.
look forward to the contest stepping to the next level, pairs delivered to the contestants and end of this endless sizing jive!

So I measure just under 34 inches where my jeans usually fit.
Am I crazy to order a 34.8in (88.6cm) Raw?
edit: I plan on hot soaking/hand washing - no dryer.
I believe you'll be fine with 34 if you don't plan to machine wash often.
if these 50's are anything like the 60's I have (and I believe so, as the ratio in sizing is the same) they will stretch to waist size after a week of wear. I am 36 waist and I have a 36w pair. I did hold on washes for three months and at the end those were loose. now I machine wash at 40°C every two weeks and every time they are tight to start with but then adapt nicely to my waist. that's the best fit for me as I can wear the jeans with or without a belt.
W35 would probably be a good choice for you if you'd like to wash often.

yeah once again these will fit true to waist after some wear. piece of cake!
