  1. I finished RoboDoc the 4pt documentary on the making last week.. it was excellent! ..yesterday i gently persuaded my missus to watch the directors cut of RoboCop with me.. i used the line "it's way better than Terminator or Predator" :D

The last time i watched RoboCop was back in 1987 when i watched it at least a million times in a week on pirate VHS before i had to give it back.. having watched all the struggles during the making, it gave the film a whole new perspective.. for instance, it took them 12 hrs to shoot the 5 second clip of RoboCop catching the keys to ther cop car because the keys kept bouncing off his polyurathane Robo-gloves.. anywho, that aside, it was refreshing to have a film finish in 1.5 hrs instead of a yawn inducing 3.

After it had finished i went perusing the webz for vintage Robo merch and found this bootleg.. 'Robert Cop 2' .. £750 mint in box.. 5x more valuable than any legit Robo merch..

  2. When it comes to our li'll collective it's aesthetics first and comfort second, vise-versa and we'd all be comparing fade patterns of our panda bear onesies.. so aesthetics aside for the moment. I think you'd struggle to find anything more comfortable than a pair of Nike runners from any era.. but i suppose, when you look at how much technology and innovation Nike have poured into their sole units over the decades.. is there any wonder.

That 11 month old Stilton looks just the same as a new one as far as I’m concerned.

    You're not wrong Martin

So a cool, humid environment is best for preserving cheese?

My post was based entirely on assumptions Carl rather than any kind of knowledge.. it's what folks did before refrigeration.. y'know, in less civilised times or the 1980s here in the north of England :D

  4. I store all my cheese in the cellar.. perfect cheese storing conditions down there, humidity levels and such, it certainly wouldn't last 11 months free of mould in the fridge.. it's what we in the cheese community would call a 'good cellar'

We buy blocks of Red Leicester from the supermarket for sarnies.. that stuff lives in the fridge but once a year at Christmas i go to the deli on Sharrow Vale road and spend a kings ransom on swanky cheeses to nibble on over xmas.. i probably went back to work in the new year, forgot all about that block of stilton.. and there it stayed... the only sobs were due to wasting a lovely wedge of cheese!

  5. I found a block of stilton in the cellar today while checking the gas and electric meter, i bought it last Christmas, ate some of it then completely forgot about it :D

This is what 11 mth old stilton looks like..

It's absolutely rock hard and devoid of all moisture but it doesn't smell off

Maybe grate it into a sauce?.. thinks my 'waste not, want not' northern sensibilities

I like how the stats at the top of every thread has just confirmed that this thread has essentially been Double 0 and Maynard's pub for years now.

'General Nonsense' is my specialist subject!..

You're right tho.. i was laughing at the stats of the SC thread recently.. one of the main contributors is some curmudgeonly troll who only tuned in to create arguements about everything other then SC .. why isn't my contribution recognised?.. oh wait, that wasn't here

  7. @kiya hey!..

I bought this yoyo back in 2007 maybe 2008.. .. without a thought towards it ever becoming collectable

..we had a strong pound back in those days, we were getting almost $2 to the £ so it would have cost me peanuts to import this^ from the US.

It's been carefully looked after (no dings) but I haven't thrown it for 10yrs+ .. it's always been kept in the carton so the carton isn't exactly in perfect condition due to me taking it out/in.

    I spotted this website https://yoyo.collectionhero.com/outer/gallery_listings.php?keyword=crucial+yoyo

According to this^ they've sold on ebay back in 2022 for $300+ and frankly i'd rather have $300 than something i've just found in a drawer but im clueless regarding the buoyancy of the US yo market...

.. If i was to auction this^ on (worldwide) ebay through GSP starting at lets say $10.. would i be guaranteed a sale price close to the above mentioned or would you recommend listing it for $300 with offers? .. if it could sell for $50 .. i'll chuck it back in the drawer :)

The UK market is limited at best..

  8. Ok.. ignore my previous statement, aho sent me this msg back in 2012

"Not sure if you've been following the Devi's/Denim Project contest thread, but I just wanted to extend the invite to you It's a straight 1946 repro from a denimhead geek in Japan, not a huge brand just a group of like-minded denim otaku that decided to try their hand at a run 7 years ago. Let us know if you want to participate, jeans will be 20000yen and final payment is due in March"

    Best,

    aho

This^ was the first time i heard of the 1946 model.. credit retracted CSF

During a ‘casual’ phase in my early teens, I, like many other urban youth, thought it was cool to dress like middle-aged golfers: v-neck woollen sweaters, perhaps with an argyle print, over a polo shirt or roll-neck sweater, teamed with some Farah slacks and, in my case, a pair of burgundy Kickers! What the hell were we thinking!!! 😂

    Alan Partridge?

  10. @indigoeagle.. when i first posted about the CSF-46s over on DB back in 2016

"Conners Sewing Factory have had access to Yawara Miura's 3000 strong Levi's collection and using restored machinery of the era have recreated the rare 1946 model which still featured key elements from WWII restrictions, a transition (if you will) between the 44,s and the yet to come 47,s"

The months preceding was my first introduction to a 1946 model.. i can't remember a 46 model being mentioned on sufu before this date so i would say yes.. you can probably credit CSF with the above.

I seem to remember .. maybe Duke saying that the FW-47s was actually based on a pair from 1946 but they were called a 47 so CSF did coin the '46' phrase.

  11. Get the timing right @Dr_Heech .. Levis are riding the wave but there will come a time in the not so distant future when all but the good shit is worth next to nothing.. I've seen it with so many nostalgia fuled markets.. classic road bikes for instance, used to be worth cash, then the bottom dropped out of the market (what actually happened is the poeple who collected them got too old to ride them and the next generation didn't care because they wasn't looking through the same rose tinted spectacles (you still see them for sale with big price tickets but nobody is buying them) then the bottom dropped out of the old school BMX market for the same reason.. 90s MTB is currently fetching $$$... because the folks who remember it fondly are in that 40s and 50s with a high disposible income... the folks who were buying the Italian road bikes are now claiming a pension if they're still around.

Old classic cars from the 60s used to be worth cash.. now it's cars from the 80s and 90s, Ford Escorts which used to be worth £800 are now fetching £60k for the same reasons as above.. it's all fueled by nostalgia.. cash rich, men folk who've paid off the mortgage, kids grown up and they're buying back the good old days of their youth which they can now afford.. if you're not viewing old Levi's through a nostalgia lens their value is drastically diminished.. and let's be honest the next generation who're currently in their 20s just arn't... they only know Levi's for what they've been for the last 20yrs.. complete shite!

  12. It would be a suitable punishment to replace the naughty step..

”if you don’t behave yourself I’m going to dress you like your dad”

“No mum pleeeease, I promise I’ll be good”

“Right that’s it, I’ve had enough.. where are the 21oz Iron Hearts”

”if you don’t change your tune, I’ll get the 3lb wallet and chain”

This thread is good for my procrastinations.

    ..and my therapy :D

I've managed to avoid covid so far.. i spotted an article a while ago which read.. "So You Think You're a Superdodger" .. Oooh! this is me I thought .. I bet i'm like Bruce Willis in Unbreakable..  it went on to say that i've probably got no friends and/or social life.. Huff! that article did nothing for my self esteem

There is a young couple who live on the corner of our street with a Cornish Rex called Tofu.. judging by the half dressed manaquins around the house, i think they work in the fashion/garment industry.. one girl is chinese, her partner is white..

They have a drop-box in front of their house and receive a lot of deliveries.. (like most of us nowadays) one of the old geezers who lives on the other side of the road to them (he spends his day gazing out of his window and chatting to passers-by) said to my wife.. "they get a heck'ova lot of deliveries don't they.. do you think they're drug dealers?"

..Y'know, Amazon Prime dropping off your meth.. Hello Fresh delivering your weed?

'Foreign, lesbian, cat loving, vegan, drug dealers'..? that's what you call a minority group!

  14. When my kid was little and more impressionable, jeans were just impractical for the outdoor lifestyle we had, if we did dress him in them, they instantly got wet, muddy, cold and uncomfortable.. now he’s older and living a more urban lifestyle he still associates them with being uncomfortable.. he’s moved onto loose fitting pants with a short inseam, at 5’8” they sit just above his AJs.. he’s also got a pair of combats and these things from Uniqlo called combat-joggers, just combats with a drawstring waist... most of his friends are the same.. but as you say Doc.. our neighbours kids at 16 and 19.. it’s baggy vintage all the way.
